  1. If he's Jordan Montgomery's dad, and can get him to sign here for a reasonable price, I would be in favor of it.
  2. Now do it with Diaz catching 162 games!
  3. Game 7 of 2019 was a 6-2 loss, not a 1 run game. The offense never got going, the team just wasn't stringing hits together in the same inning and they left a bunch of runners stranded. Harris came in and gave up the 2 run homer, and it was 3-2 going into the bottom of the 7th. That was all they needed to win. They scored in the 8th and 9th too, so not much you can do about it with only 2 runs scored. Are people arguing that Cole coming in to relieve Greinke would have resulted in 2.2 scoreless innings with a 2-1 win? That seems like a stretch, but I guess it could happen. We just saw Bochy put in Montgomery in the middle of game 7 of the ALCS, and that worked out great for them, while our ace Verlander sat in the dugout as the bullpen failed. I don't know how often it happens, but it would be interesting to see stats on SPs that enter a game 7 in relief and how successful they are.
  4. Nice drive, great play by the offense to put it in the end zone twice.
  5. Thanks for the info. Another noob question, am I penalized by leaving a guy in my lineup who ends up being ruled out for the game that day? I have Booker, and his status this past week has been day to day, so I had him in for some games that he didn't end up playing. Should I pull him before the game starts, or does the system recognize he's out and ignore it? I realize I could put someone else in his place, but guys like him you always want in if they play.
  6. ^ holy clickbait batman! Dude is gonna get 500m+ over 10-13 years and is the biggest boom or bust guy in history. If he's healthy, he's awesome, if he's injured then you have one fifth of your payroll on IR. Seems like a perfect candidate for the Mets.
  7. It has been good luck for the Astros in the few times it happened. I believe it started with the Yankees last year, since we have quite a history of kicking their asses recently, they wanted payback. It did not go well for them, they got swept while also getting no-hit in the ALCS. Then the Philly fans were chanting it after they punched a ticket to the World Series, and we know how that went. Then the Twins did it this year, now the Rangers. 3 out of 4 ain't bad, and baseball superstition being what it is, I'm sure we will continue to hear about it. It's a meme at this point, but when you win a lot of playoff series you make a lot of enemies. Maybe if you guys can string together more than 2 playoff appearances in a row, you can experience it too.
  8. Pitchers these days have it so fucking easy...
  9. I did not realize the IR slots were used in a different menu, I thought they were part of the roster start/bench options. So I added a few guys that might come back and have some value down the road. Is there any penalty to using the IR slots? If someone comes back healthy, and I don't have a bench or active spot for them, can I leave them in the IR slot?
  10. hahaha, it really is a weird name.
  11. Congrats Ranger fans, hell of a run for you guys! Grabbing Jordan Montgomery at the deadline was a hell of a get, very underrated at the time, but he was absolutely critical to this postseason. Perfect on the road in the playoffs is something we probably won't see again any time soon. Lots of clutch plays and some crazy endings, and a soundtrack of Creed to top it off.
  12. Interesting map of the Israeli incursion into Gaza so far:
  13. You could say the same about most of the Astros division titles and playoff success, but I think the NL Central has been more competitive than the AL West. Up until this year, the Rangers have been dogshit for a decade. The Angels are always finding new ways to fail. Athletics had a few good years early in our run, but are generally cheapskates who don't try hard. The Mariners have been good the last couple of years, but that's about it. You can only play the teams in front of you, and he has performed well enough to get several 95 win teams with half the payroll the Astros have.
  14. Counsell is a manager that has been winning at a good clip for several years, well above his expected rate, with a team that on average, spends half the amount on payroll the Astros do every year. They have never spent more than 16 million per year on a player in the last decade, and the Astros have a few of those. I think he could do a lot more with the pieces the Astros have, and their budget.
  15. Hey now, the rats could do a lot worse than Mcnuggets and fries...
