  1. I have built lots of bolt-on guitars in my life, but I never did a set-neck. I thought I'd try my hand at it, so I grabbed a Les Paul Jr. kit from Stew-Mac. I was surprised at the quality of the wood - much better than I expected. They advertise these things as really, really simple to build, but I had to take a little more care with mine on the neck joint. Since that's what really determines how the thing is going to play, it was time well spent. Ultimately, I'm really happy with the result. I'll probably do another build in the future, maybe a 335-type since I don't have one of those. Anyway, here's a pic.
  2. This is a can't miss for Mrs. Mudcat and me.
  3. Dear God, those Aggy uniforms are awful.
  4. GTFO. Needs a 3, calls a play to drive the lane. Blocked. Still needs a 3, calls the same play, blocked again. At the very end, STILL needs a 3, calls for a drive to the hoop, BLOCKED YET AGAIN. Absolute genius.
  5. I'd be surprised if there were 7,000 there. I do know that there was a pretty large continent of KU fans. They were sitting all around us and made almost as much noise as the Longhorns crowd. I never for a second thought we were actually going to win the game, even when we were up 8, but at least they played competitively. I really wasn't expecting that.
  6. Not a home run hire, but if you're Jerry Jones, who are you going to get? Most top-tier coaches are not going to want to work for Jerry. Is McCarthy an upgrade over Garrett? Oh, hell yes he is.
  7. I am truly hoping that Jerry isn't waffling on this one. If ever there was a no-brainer to move on from a coach, this is it. The guy's been given 10 years and hasn't won anything.
  8. I'm pulling so hard for this kid. It's great that he's doing modified workouts - that's a good predictor for moving on to living a pretty normal life. He's going to school. He can get a degree. He's setting himself up for the future. If he gets to play a little football on top of that, great. If nothing else, put him in to take the snap and kneel down at the end of the game. Or, if he never suits up, I don't care one bit.
  9. It's 10:53am and Jason Garrett is still employed as Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I am not happy.
  10. Based on recent performance, we shouldn't be a 10.5 point favorite over ANYBODY.
  11. I usually watch the presser, but today I didn't. After reading the updates you guys gave, I sure am glad I didn't tune in. I've had just about enough.
  12. I really like the double coverage on the official here.
  13. On her face and in use. I'm guessing that was why she said she could see.
  14. I'm not sure if I can write this post without laughing hysterically, crying a little, or running screaming from the building, but I'm going to try. Mrs. Mudcat has a tendency to take off her glasses and leave them on a table by where she is sitting if she's reading, crocheting, or whatever, so her saying "I can't find my glasses - can you help me?" is not a unique thing. Saturday afternoon, I'm in my office doing some work, and I hear from the other room "I can't find my glasses - can you help me?". I get up from my desk, and we have a little fire drill looking for her glasses. I'm searching the living room, dining room, spare bedroom, office, bathrooms, kitchen, our room - nothing. Trying to make her feel better about losing her glasses, I say "let me find them. I know when I lose mine, I can't find them either. You take a break." Keep I still haven't looked at her, because I've been in the other rooms. She replies, "I can see without my glasses, just not far away". That's not even the slightest bit true. We'll just leave it at that. So, I go through another fire drill looking all around the house for the glasses. Still nothing. I hear her in the kitchen looking in the refrigerator for something to drink. I say, "OH - I SEE YOU'VE FOUND YOUR GLASSES!" She replies, "No, where are they?" "They're on your face." "Oh." SMDH.
  15. I'm really liking the Kansas State alternates. And fuck the cockroaches.
  16. Trout's the best player in baseball. No doubt. He's the Mickey Mantle of this generation, before Mickey got hurt and old. But...this particular award is about value. I stated my opinion, yours is different. I have no quarrel with somebody who thinks Trout is a great player.
  17. Gotta go with Bregman. Can't pick Trout. He's missed too much time and his team wasn't good with or without him. How valuable was he really?
  18. Cole and Verlander are both lights out right now, but I have to go with Cole. Slightly better numbers.
  19. We went to the football game this last Saturday night. We sat in the upper deck and enjoyed a nice cool breeze for most of the game. Actually pleasant weather, which I was not expecting. During the 4th quarter, my wife and I decided to head to the concession stand to grab a couple of drinks and a pretzel. We took the opportunity to sit in some chairs right by the concession stand, relax a little and watch the game on the concession stand monitor. About halfway through the pretzel, she looks at me and says "I wish it wasn't so windy up here. It seems like the wind has really picked up". 3 feet to her left was a giant fan, blowing straight on us.
  20. I haven't gone back and rewatched the game yet, but from what I saw the first time, LSU in general and Burrow in particular, are very, very good. If they continue to play at that level, lots of people are going to have a hard time slowing them down. That being said, the shouldn't be any question which of the two teams had the best DBs. Ours got exposed. Green and Boyce were just bad. Even Sterns was not able to play up to his usual level. I'm starting to really like our linebackers. Ossai is special, or at least has a chance to be special. Pretty good run plugging on Saturday, too. Roach was good, and I have to tell you, every team should have a 350-pound man named "Sweat" manning the middle.
  21. Missed it, and missed it bad. Solidly in the middle of the pack.
