  1. But you are paying for it. And you know it. Tell Verizon you don't want it, and drop your rate or you will switch to Metro. You still have dial up in Lubbock right?
  2. About this image. From BBC "There's something in the nature of a still image that deeply affects the viewer and stays with them," says Ben Wright, associate director for communications at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History. The centre, based at the University of Texas at Austin, houses Adams's archive of photos, documents and correspondence. "The film footage of the shooting, while ghastly, doesn't evoke the same feelings of urgency and stark tragedy." But the photo did not - could not - fully explain the circumstances on the streets of Saigon on 1 February 1968, two days after the forces of the People's Army of Vietnam and the Viet Cong launched the Tet Offensive. Dozens of South Vietnamese cities were caught by surprise. Heavy street fighting had pitched Saigon into chaos when South Vietnamese military caught a suspected Viet Cong squad leader, Nguyen Van Lem, at the site of a mass grave of more than 30 civilians. Adams began taking photos as Lem was frogmarched through the streets to Loan's jeep. Loan stood beside Lem before pointing his pistol at the prisoner's head. "I thought he was going to threaten or terrorise the guy," Adams recalled afterwards, "so I just naturally raised my camera and took the picture." Lem was believed to have murdered the wife and six children of one of Loan's colleagues. The general fired his pistol. "If you hesitate, if you didn't do your duty, the men won't follow you," the general said about the suddenness of his actions.

  17. DR? Nah. He lost that shit in the club or tried to pay off some coke debt. Or bought a gold chain. Lawyer has his eyes on his house(s) and farm(s). Cutting a deal with the family. But he was sent to a mental institute. In the DR can decide to appoint someone with direct power of attorney over you. When my mom was real sick (Parkinson) they gave it automatically to my brother. 20. We've just seen a statement from Hamas, who say their negotiating team in Doha have survived Israel's strike on the Qatari capital. In a statement, it says: "We confirm the enemy's failure to assassinate our brothers in the negotiating delegation." It adds the strike "confirms beyond doubt that Netanyahu and his government do not want to reach any agreement" for peace. The statement adds that six others were killed in the strike. "We hold the US administration jointly responsible with the occupation for this crime, due to its ongoing support for the aggression and crimes of the occupation against our people," the statement adds. As a reminder, Hamas earlier said their negotiating delegation was targeted during its meeting in Doha after Israel said it carried out a strike on senior Hamas leaders.

  23. BBC. Netanyahu says attack was in response to 7 October and Jerusalem shootingpublished at 10:20 10:20 A joint statement from Benjamin Netanyahu and his Defence Minister Israel Katz says that in the wake of attacks in Jerusalem and Gaza, the Israeli prime minister ordered his security agencies to prepare to target the Hamas leadership. It says that this afternoon presented an operational opportunity and, with the full backing of Israel's defence leaders, the pair jointly decided to green-light the attack. It adds that the IDF and Shin Bet were informed of the plans for the attack last night. The statement continues that Netanyahu and Katz believe the attack was justified due to the Hamas leadership being behind the 7 October 2023 attack and the shooting in Jerusalem yesterday. Earlier today, Hamas claimed responsibility for the shooting, which killed six Israelis and left several other wounded.
  24. This strike was planned, sure. But was it the catalyst? Also, IAF had to fly real close to some US bases no matter what route they took and we should have had AWACs up. Plus our Navy. Was this quietly allowed by the Arab states? Qatar has a pretty modern air force. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar_Emiri_Air_Force
  25. Thinking about the weekend. I wonder if what set this off was the killing of 6 Israelis, over 10 wounded?
