  1. For the 10K US employees of USAID there are 80K support elements. Companies that support down to the docks that load aid. This company is toast. Chemonics International Inc. is a private for-profit international development firm based in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1975 by Thurston F. (Tony) Teele as a subsidiary of Erly Industries. The employee-owned company offers a variety of services globally and has been awarded over $17 billion in USAID contracts alone, from 2008 to 2024[10][11][12]. As of 2019 the company has approximately 5,000 employees in 100 countries. How would this dude survive if his county does not need paper?
  2. Maybe people should shut the fuck up and listen to each other.
  3. I watch the federal sector (international yeah) pretty close. It was already hard for people above 40 to get jobs. Lots of jobs out there, but not white collar. Amazon warehouse is hiring. HEB needs more people to stock carts for curbside. Managers? Nope. it was happening in the government support components as well. Lot of companies think AI can do it all. So they hire less. I was just picked up by a large to do analysis direct for them via consult. I made the jump and happy I did. Shit ton of friends are calling up saying where can they find work. Smart people with damn good records. But there are already plenty of HR specialists, etc.
  4. Some will get replaced. A lot wont' There are two thigns going on here. When we talk Federal we overlook all the companies and skills that are really part of it. USAID for example. Chemonics, DAI, Dexis all rely on USAID. They were built to implement USAID's projects. So from C-Suite (they will be fine) to Janitors (they will be fine) are humans who will loose their current job. The mid level are screwed. They are "experts" in specilized fields. Agricuture logistics, medical supply chains, etc. they do not fit elsewhere at the same level. So they will take a step down if they can find someone who needs them. That leads to a second issue. Age. Companies will hire younger for cheaper and train up. It is natural and normal. This will apply across the federal sector directly as well. Who needs that many healthcare admins if healthcare is cut/authomated? A lot of this is already being automated. Then the third impact. We pretend that all is remote work. Yes, a lot is, but there are still a shit ton of offices staffed. USAID was one of them. So laters to the Vietnamese cafe on the first floor. Courtyard near by? Yep they are fucked and will see a decrease. And as pointed out this won't be just DC. near the FEMA offices in Atlanta are a ton of hotels that cater to it. So where do ALL these people go?
  5. It has been studied. Engineers and doctors become extremists. philosophers give them the rationale, but rarely go full on extremist. It is the STEM leads who do. They cannot see color. They only see black and white. Right and wrong.
  6. Like he knows that it is part of DOD and what district.
  7. Yeah I know. Forgot what site I was on. This one hits hard. I was wondering why my whatsapp was blowing up. Now I know why. Oh, and we cut the funding to the Kenya Peacekeepers I am hearing. Someone please tell Kush Haiti has nice beaches. @MissingInAction Haitian curse your ginger ass with voodoo dolls of Sheamous the wrestler for calling them Latinos.
  8. No they won't. They can't. sadly, we were the only country that can even contemplate saving lives on the scale that is needed.
  9. this is planned.
  10. HIV is a major issue in Haiti. It was seen as a oh shit point since it was mutating really quick there. HIV/AIDS gutted civil society in Haiti. Government, public sector, police, etc.
  11. FML. Treatment for HIV, AIDS in Haiti hit by U.S. foreign aid halt despite waivers from Rubio So waivers were issued. Still cut. Jacqueline Charles Thu, February 6, 2025 at 10:06 AM CST 10 min read When growing gang violence and the kidnappings of healthcare workers forced Haiti’s leading organization in the treatment of HIV and AIDS-related illnesses to relocate operations from its main site in Port-au-Prince last year, infectious-disease doctors at the health service and research group faced a daunting problem. As they tried to call patients to come get their antiretroviral treatment, the doctors at GHESKIO — the Haitian Group for the Study of Kaposi’s Sarcoma and Opportunistic Infection — found that they had either changed their numbers, didn’t have electricity to keep cell phones powered or no longer lived close by after being forced out of their homes by armed gangs. “We were having a big issue in finding them. We could only find 40 to 50%,” said Dr. Patrice Joseph, the physician in charge of GHESKIO’s HIV, Tuberculosis and Infectious diseases program. “So we needed to expand the way in which we contacted those patients.” The innovative solution: a radio spot in Haitian-Creole urging patients to “Come back to Care” and providing them with community health centers in Port-au-Prince where they could get their medication. This week, following the Trump administration’s sweeping 90-day freeze on U.S. foreign assistance, doctors at GHESKIO launched another spot. This one informed its HIV/AIDS patients that the U.S.-funded President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief program, commonly known as PEPFAR, has been temporarily suspended. “This sudden decision affects all PEPFAR medical clinics in Haiti and abroad,”
  12. FML. Well at least we got a bad ass leadership in State for the Public Diplomacy group.
  13. From what I have seen USDA buys it, USAID distributes and oversees the contractors who do that. And China will buy those crops. Or the Saudis. The Saudis will use it to distribute as food aid. It changes ownership when it gets to the embarkation port. So on the train in Corpus, USDA. Off the train going into a warehouse, USAID. Well it was like that.
  14. Derail all you want. Remember what site we are on. And interesting about the headscarf. It could also be Christian, Catholic, Orthodox, etc. It could also be Hindi. Maybe they don't like sun on their neck.
  15. Their focus, per their mandate is mainly domestic. they already closed down the State Department group that did that.
  16. Palestinian DOES NOT MEAN muslim. Ya know there are muslim israelis as well.
  17. Plenty of office space in the DC area available. Just got to pay a premium. Lerner will be buying an English soccer team soon.
  18. You will be fine. Remember, one vodka before you board and one after. Sleep like a baby and wake up across the pond. No more, cuz then thats drinking.
  19. Gulaged is what I am hoping for.
  20. And everyone of them has a financial incentive for someone.
