  1. I agree we should, but that is not how the ME rolls. ISIS arose BEFORE we were in this particular conflict. They attacked East into Iraq. Not West vs. Syria. Raqqa, their HQ, was in Syria. They took power there first. And Assad went after the Jihadis, just not really ISIS. Even Russia did not go heavy after ISIS until they were getting their asses kicked and tucked away in enclaves.
  2. Port city of Latakia has people partying in the streets.
  3. Jordan hates him. Egypt? Yeah, same. UAE would not protect him or let him stay. They don't want potential assassination on their territory. Might mess up the perception it has. Why not just go to Russia straight? Interesting is ISIS never fucked with Bashir like they did with Iraq. Though both had Shia rulers.
  4. I am starting to think he stayed in country and went to the coast. Then there is this question. Forget the conscript troops, what about the core? From where they are stationed could they be the troops that went into Iraq? The 4th is the primary key group. From AJ Elias Hanna, a military analyst, says Syrian forces kept announcing “redeployment” from cities as they withdrew, but they failed to set up defences in the path of advancing rebels. “No one expected the Syrian army to be this fragile,” Hanna said. “It shows a lack of desire in this army to fight – from Aleppo down to the capital.” Hanna also raised questions about the absence of the Syrian Arab Army’s Fourth Division – a well-armed force of tens of thousands of soldiers, led by al-Assad’s brother Maher. “Today, the question is: Where did these forces go? Where did their equipment go?”
  5. From AJ Moments before opposition fighters took control of the airport, open source flight trackers recorded a single plane in Syria’s airspace. An Illyushin76 aircraft with flight number Syrian air 9218 was the last flight to take off from Damascus. First, it flew east, then it turned north. A few minutes later, its signal disappeared as it circled over Homs. They go to Switzerland if they can. Extradition, etc. But in this case he heads to Russia.
  6. AJ reporting Assad left. Celebrations in Damascus. Rebels claiming he fled.
  7. Cool, hehehe, that is where my dad got out. Found the old video of his retirement ceremony a few weeks ago. Back to Syria. Shit is going to get real bad for the civilians in Damascus. Until now they were isolated from the war and impact. Give it a few months and I hope it does not go the way of Lebanon in the 1980's.
  8. Tells me they have a way out. Also means the troops, hardline units especially, are pretty much toast.
  9. Well shit. so they will have a few military bases as outposts. Government forces withdraw from Defence Ministry headquarters: Sources Syrian rebel sources tell Al Jazeera Arabic that government forces have withdrawn from the Defence Ministry headquarters in Damascus.
  10. OK, so NOW Russia wants a UN Resolution to pass? As noted above, the Gulf States are going to not want the rebels in full control. Neither will the Turks for that matter. What is UN Security Council resolution 2254? As we reported earlier, the foreign ministers of five Arab countries, as well as Iran, Turkiye and Russia, issued a joint statement calling for the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 2254 to end the fighting in Syria. The resolution, adopted in December 2015, sets out a roadmap for a ceasefire across Syria which is linked to a peace process leading to a Syrian-led and- owned political process facilitated by the UN. The resolution also calls for free and fair elections that are UN-supervised. Resolution 2254 demands compliance with international law, protecting civilians, uninhibited humanitarian access, safe and voluntary refugee returns and releasing people who have been arbitrarily detained.
  11. AJ does have good coverage. Saw this tidbit. Damn interesting. Syrian soldiers continue to pour into Iraq Soldiers from al-Assad’s army are continuing to flee into Iraq through the al-Qaim border crossing, according to footage shared online. One video, posted by the Anbar Media Centre, shows soldiers on tanks and military vehicles on the roads of al-Qaim. The outlet said “thousands” of troops had entered Iraq after “fleeing the battles taking place in their country”.
  12. Yes, they do. In Syria today those are alawites or already part of the rebels. They want THEIR people in power. So the rest can leave.
  13. Once I drop those fax machines we can make your lair. Everyone needs a lair.
  14. Some groups already are. MOAS is talking about moving their vessel towards the Aegean. So when do the street fights/retribution of Syrian (Sunni) vs. Syrian (Shia) start? I give it 6 months from the migration commencing.
  15. Making split pea and ham soup, bread is in the oven, fuck going out in this.
  16. Those are send a message beatings.
  17. Then what would antique shops fill their shelves with?
  18. BBC running a good tracker. USG says suburbs falling. UK warns Syria about use of Chemical Weapons. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cwy8xzxe0w7t This caught my eye. Israeli military says it is assisting UN forces under attack in Syria published at 10:08 10:08 The Israeli military says it is assisting UN forces in Syria that have come under attack from "armed individuals". Posting on social media, the Israeli Defense Forces says: "A short while ago, an attack was carried out by armed individuals at a UN post in the Hader area in Syria. "The IDF is currently assisting the UN forces in repelling the attack. "The IDF is deployed with reinforced forces in the Golan Heights area and will continue to operate in order to protect the State of Israel and its citizens." The Golan Heights is a rocky plateau in south-western Syria, about 60km (40 miles) south-west of Damascus. Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria in the closing stages of the 1967 Six-Day War. Most of the Syrian Arab inhabitants fled the area during the conflict. An armistice line was established and the region came under Israeli military control.
  19. Yes, but only fakes ones of those who are fucking up Christmas. Like Hallmark Channel's head of production.
  20. Fuck it, told wife we are decorating the house like we are a Legion in Germanic forests.
  21. And this case sets up copy cats. It will continue. And it won't be just insurance companies. Remember that train derailment that killed people in Ohio (yeah, I know there is more than 1). Well the people got paid little yet they will be living with the damage caused for their lives. Maybe longer for their kids and grandkids. BP paid bonuses AFTER they spilled and their oil well went kaput and made the Gulf black.
  22. Just make everyone take an immodium before they start work. And get rid of all water and coffee. Problem solved.
  23. Plus the interns can vape their day away. @RDCanecutter, this one might be a good Board Member. Again, an ideas person.
