  1. I was thinking it most likely had to be them. That is one aggy program. I’m not aware of any other LL program that positions itself to be an offshoot of a college program.
  2. The SOC changed from 50 to 45 without family history of cancer a few years ago. My doc told me about this change during treatment because I was dx’d at 40. So probably 2017-18-ish.
  3. We just got back from a week in Cooperstown All Star Village for the 12u. I had been told it was an amazing experience and it was. The kids absolutely loved it. 64 teams and they played 9 games in 4 days. For those of you who haven't heard of it yet (because you will at some point) it's a wonderful experience. Competition level was AA to majors, but there were a lot of AA-level teams there. Here's HR and a strike out*.\ * I have no idea if that's actually a strike out or not, but he did have SOs so it could be.
  4. My man - I may have way overdone it on running and had OATS surgery 6 weeks ago. I have been told by three doctors that I need to mix in something else with running so I'm eyeing a 70.3 next April. I can already tell my wife is going to be really pissed if I fuck up my knee again and have to have surgery.
  5. I can confirm Newdoc may know what he's talking about. I've had both and I'd certainly rec the scope over the cancer. I'm back for my 3 year tomorrow. Prep day sucks worst than procedure day.
  6. There's some good advice on this thread and I'd add to keep calm and carry on. Her world is not going to implode overnight. You don't have to permanently change diet/lifestyle but his weekend. You don't have to go no-carbs. A diabetes diagnosis is scary and there's information overload but you have time to get it figured out. An easy initial option is to move towards foods with a lower glycemic index. There's comprehensive lists all over the internet.
  7. I don’t know a thing about the chemistry or math but as an anecdotal point my body seriously does not like alcohol. I was a daily drinker for years and was 6’ 230 when I quit. About a month after that weight just started melting off and now I’m usually 165-175. In addition to the empty calories I suspect the alcohol slowed my metabolism.
  8. He also spent a bunch of money -650,000,000 - that the City doesn’t have to settle with the firefighters after voluntarily dismissing the City’s legal defenses. His plan is to kick the can down the road and make the city even more broke.
  9. Hezbollah fired a buttload of rockets at Israel and set it ablaze. Wonder if the loons are going to throw a temper tantrum when Israel responds.
  10. I am downtown and agree - never seen it this dark in the daytime before. It's night here.
  11. Why let a pesky issue like "who actually made it" get in the way of shit piling on Boeing?
  12. I started running (again) about a year ago and built up to a marathon training block and a marathon in January. Weight melted off from about 230 beforehand to 160 at my lowest. I had been running 40-50 miles per week through March when my right knee started hurting in the last mile of a half marathon. It never got better and the MRI showed a significant cartilage defect. Surgery (OATS procedure) was described as three weeks on crutches, three on a stationary bike and then introduction of regular running. So that didn't happen. I woke up from surgery in a full knee brace and now it's 4-6 week with no weight on the leg at all, then a reintroduction of weight in 25% increments. So 4-6 months of recovery. And I'm told my marathon running days may be over if I don't want to risk a total knee replacement. So beware overtaxing your old ass bodies. I ran through a number of injuries and it caught up with me. The good news is my weight has been stable at about 170 without real exercise for the last two months.
  13. This thread is a fucking disaster.
  14. I'd get loaded up with sedatives at MDAnderson and they'd make me get a ride home. That process essentially entailed me pointing in the other direction and scampering to my car when their heads were turned.
  15. If I was Israel, I’d bomb the shit out of Iran.
  16. That fat Mario guy is not going to be able to copy/paste this type of information from prior years' spring reports.
  17. You don't like that warm, alien feeling when the contrast is injected? I think it's cool. But I'm also allergic to it so I'm half asleep on benadryl.
  18. Nah, that dude was was lit on something, had been facetiming with one of his friends while fucked up before leaving and googling weird shit about how long you can last outside. Cops think he wandered off, died and was eaten by pigs.
  19. Shaggy dun got old. The drunk thread ain’t what it used to be. More like corn bread and ice tea these days.
  20. Yeah, he moved the goalposts from fighting cancer to cancer risk. Next we'll be talking about other stupid fake miracle cures that get people killed, like alkaline diet and castor beans.
  21. How high we talking about here with these numbers?
  22. I've been through the ringer at MDAnderson for stage 3 colorectal cancer. My oncologist was a self-admitted stats freak. He printed and gave me studies on treatment options for the exact positions I was in, both before treatment and during treatment as my cancer landscape changed. He told me there was no evidence that sugar feeds cancer cells differently from other cells and no evidence you can starve cancer by cutting carbs.
  23. I have it on good authority you get the same treatment for stage 3 colon as well. And the docs take one look at colon cancer in a scope before surgery and go, "yup, that's probably cancer." So probably not colorectal.
