  1. Food shouldn’t be adversarial. It’s supposed to bring people together. Assuming nothing comes up, I will go check it out. I set a reminder for the night before. This means I am likely forgoing my usual photography outing, which means a lot to me.
  2. That’s a weird take. I don’t t play favorites. I actually really like austin. Sure, I like austin of the 90s. But everyone prefers “their” Austin. I’m glad I don’t have to eat two Tex Mex lunches in one day as EyM is a personal favorite of mine. I’m not thread shitting. Just calling it as I see it. Just like the bbq thread. See my opinion on Pinkerton’s and Roegel’s.
  3. That’s fine because it’s your opinion. There are several joints in Austin I thoroughly enjoy, but they are few and far between. I’m willing to risk a heartache and try both your and zfeja’s suggestions to change Emmy mind that Austin’s Tex Mex is just middling. Give me a suggestion and I will check it out. I have an open mind and open mouth when it comes to food.
  4. Ok pendejo. I’m going to try and make it there next week.
  5. Tell me the absolute best Tex Mex spot in Austin and I will go there next week.
  6. First, thank you for enjoying my posts on a texas football forum. But it is known that austin Tex Mex is a lacking space. Bbq, nope. Burgers, nope. But austin Tex Mex is few and far between. It is known. People recommend Maudie’s, the most middling of places. Don’t be offended by my opinions. It’s an opinion. If you like a spot, go eat there. But my OPINION is when I eat these places they don’t hold a candle to places I such abhorrent places such as Houston. It’s not personal.
  7. Goddamn man, how do you even survive day to day with such a smooth brain? Austin had several excellent Tex Mex spots. Enchiladas y Mas, Maria’s, Juan in a million. Stop being a dipshit.
  8. I have a ridiculous amount of pocket knives. Now I am traumatized by the decision of which to take with me.
  9. The more important question is when was the last time your mom sucked my cock. Please, tell me the amazing Tex Mex joints in Austin.
  10. Ztejas, surly’s sweet summer child.
  11. My very dear friend “Give Up” has a new book coming out documenting his 25 year long art/street art/graffiti work. Several of my photos appear in the book. I am honored to be part of it. If you are I. Austin or Houston, you likely have seen his work over the years. Most recently him painting his wife’s name, Alex, who has battled brain cancer. This is punk, metal, graffiti, fine art all wrapped up in a massive book. https://www.instagram.com/p/Csr_donAMW3/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
  12. That sounds awesome. I need to make time for something like that!
  13. Pflugerville would definitely be in my top 20 places in Texas to NOT eat Mexican. Despite the likelihood there are more Mexicans there than in Austin. Just sayin.
  14. You should have waited to post that gif until I said this: I’m trying to tell myself I shouldn’t go to Truth tomorrow because this weekend I will have Butter’s.
  15. Yeah it was weird. Like the casing was thicker than normal. I suppose that can happen. But the taste was good. But had to bust out a real knife to get to it.
  16. Agreed. Saving grace it tasted good. Sausage talk not going away.
  17. Nice. How do you like that PF? I have been carrying my PF Beluga to the office lately. Stopped into a bbq joint and had to use it to cut some sausage (sausage was good but the casing was tough). Did the job.
  18. Haha yeah, I think it was last Friday. I’m glad folks are making the trip to B&R and are enjoying it. Seem like good folks.
  19. Let’s get back on track… Maybe a second trip to Rosemeyer’s the other week. Brisket was very good. The sausage was as good as before but the casing was tough. Almost like it was really thick. They provide plastic cutlery but I had to bust out my pocket knife to cut the sausage. And another recent trip to Brisket & Rice. Another excellent meal from them. Heading down to the coast tomorrow, so that means a visit to Butter’s.
  20. Nice shots NYC and Ychang. Going to do a bit of spamming. I have a few copies left of my last two books. “Shake ‘Em On Down” (railroader/graffiti/hobo) book is $35. I only have 4 left and they won’t be printed again. “+ / -“ is a hardcover and these have some bubbling in the inside cover. No issues with pages or the photos. All b&w images. I only have a few left. $30. DM me if interested. Heading down to the coast tomorrow. Hopefully I find something that interests me.
  21. More budget or budget adjacent blades. I picked up another one of these Geo knives. $29. I had already posted about the blue one. I am kind of shocked by the quality for the price. They are chunky knives but the fit and finish are remarkable and the bald absolutely flies out. I discovered that this is the same as a Kubey (can’t recall the model), but $20 cheaper. Do I need two of them? No. Then there is this thing. I’ve been collecting pocket knives for a long time now and know most people hate on this brand as it’s not a knife company but a “lifestyle” company. The James Brand Folsom. I got it because frankly, I liked how it looked and it meets my criteria for an EDC knife. But for the price ($110 I think), it should have better blade steel and I don’t think the hole design is the best for deployment. Maybe I keep it or maybe I trade it. I also found something I had been looking for, but will wait until I get it back from the manufacturer (replacing a part, sharpening) to take pics.
  22. Nope. Some good news for once. Our religious right minions on this site must be heartbroken.
