    Caitlin last night:

    18 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, 6 turnovers.

She does have Manu-itis, tries to jam those passes into very small windows.

Our very own Ariel Atkins on the Mystics had 27 points in the losing effort.

Yeah I posted it in the other thread.   She's getting into her groove but has to do better with the TOs  She's had 29 in the last 5 gms.   She has been shooting better though with them looking to feature Boston more and letting CC get shots off of that vs her just being out top and hoisting whenever she gets the notion.  More importantly, they are getting wins

  2. She's really finding her groove.  They've started featuring Boston more and they are taking off as a team and CC is becoming more a little more efficient as a result too.   Still turned it over 6 times but shot 50% from the field.   She should easily be an all-star.  With fan voting its a given but it is deserved as well.

Monty Haul is a terrible coach and a fraud. He had one good stretch in Phoenix where Chris Paul essentially ran the team, but other than that he has been completely inept going back to the New Orleans days. Other than signing ridiculous contracts, the most impressive thing he's ever done in his career is deliver the eulogy at his wife's funeral.

yeah, he had one good yr basically and managed to turn that into a fucking fortune.   He's the American dream LOL

Based on my eye test (and I'm barely paying attention - gotta be smoking something to watch this team), I would agree. However, James Edwards of the Athletic has said repeatedly that the Pistons get calls all of the time about trying to pry him free due to his defensive ability and versatility. He would be coming off of the bench on a decent team for sure.

Then they should let him go.   Sounds like the same crap they used to say about Rodney Stuckey and Amir Johnson.  They held both way too long and both proved that they were not difference makers

I don't know where I land on the Monty stuff to be honest. I'm local but not sure I really care about the current iteration of the Pistons. I understand that he was trying to set a culture by playing Hayes over Ivey last year (Hayes could defend, Ivey chooses not to) but if that was a problem that points to same page-ness with the front office. They have been historically unlucky with the lottery, and they have drafted atrociously. I think Cade can still be a centerpiece, and I like Thompson. I think Fontecchio is a solid fit and I think Beef Stew can be a really valuable contributer if he can tick his 3P% up just a bit next year.

Agree with most of this except the Beef Stew stuff.  He's barely a rotational player IMO.

Whenever a team hires a new exec they invariably want to bring in their own coach.    With all of the money and years left on the deal not many thought they would pull the cord and dump Monty though.  While I'm not saying Monty did a good job, the org as a whole hasnt been trying to win for a few yrs now.   Making him a fall guy for organizational ineptitude is funny but at least he got 75M for 1 yr of work to go along with the 25M PHX paid him to go away last yr.  They are eating very well at the Williams house.

"Sources tell me Cameron Brink walked out of Mohegan Sun arena with no assistance, no ice, and no visible brace (but she was wearing long pants). Hopefully that’s good news, but Curt Miller did say post game she’d be evaluated tomorrow. "

Still some concern of a possible ACL injury.

Hopefully not, she has been playing well and significantly adds to this rookie class.

    Unfortunately......

Sparks rookie forward Cameron Brink suffers torn ACL

For sure,  Brink, Reese, CC, Rickea Jackson and Aaliyah Edwards make one helluva all-rookie first team with Kate Martin as a 6th person

I thought blows to the head even if inadvertent were automatic flagrant 1? I know it isn’t always called but I saw a few reviews during the NBA regular season where there wasn’t even a foul called on the floor and they wound up giving a flagrant 1

They are in most instances.   I dont think anyone has said it shouldn't have been a flagrant

The soundbite you are referring to wasn't in response to a question about that particular play. I listened to the whole post game interview from her and when she says that specific quote she is talking about general fouls throughout the game, not that particular play. That clip has been presented as an answer to a question about her flagrant foul and it wasn't.

Is it still tone deaf? Absolutely. But that was not a response to a question about that play. All I'm saying.

This is what her "special whistle" comment was about.

that’s rich coming from the most dug-in, unwilling-to-concede defender of all things that are anti-CC. you and pancho are the two people in this thread who are completely incapable of objectivity. you made 50 posts about all of the basketball reasons that CC shouldn’t be on the olympic team and completely dismissed all of the extremely valid non-basketball arguments that said otherwise. you are the last person here to call out others for having bias.

Can you point one anti-CC post?  Just one. Where have I said anything but she is very good and will probably be great?

Which is true.  There are plenty of people watching for her as well as many others.   She also went on to say.....

"Like, it’s just not ’cause of one person. A lot of us have done so much for this game.  There are so many great players in this league that deserved this for a really long time”

If Reese continues to be dumb with her comments, my guess is that Reese will wear out her welcome among the other players, while Clark keeps her head down and earns the respect.

Some of yall cant see anything without a CC bias.   Reese's teammates LOVE her.  They loved her at Maryland.  They loved her at LSU.   Her energy and effort on the court is absolutely something that teammates will always love.  Having someone that will battle non-stop on the court and stand up for herself and her teammates off it is always going to endear someone to their teammates.

Lots of peeps on X are upset at this dirty play by clark

    https://thespun.com/wnba/cameras-caught-caitlin-clarks-dirty-move-vs-chicago-sky

Players do it all the time to draw fouls.   She was getting fouled on the reach and just locked on to the defenders arm.   I wont call it dirty but it could be dangerous locking on to someone's arm like that.    That said, if you watch whenever CC dribbles with a defender near her she basically stiff arms to keep the defender from taking the ball.   Its a reason for some of the dustups that she gets into.   Constant pushoffs never being called offensive fouls will eventually result in defenders just grabbing her and having words.
