It takes the consent of the board of governors, ie the owners.

Not really. It would be more lucrative to move there, then decide whether to give the city that lost the franchise an expansion team.

Nah, the franchise fee for a Vegas team is going to be massive and basically split amongst the current owners.   I dont think it would be counted as BRI and consequently wouldnt have to be shared with the players either. I'm seeing numbers as high as 7B.   They wouldnt get that with a team moving there and I dont believe they have that same demand to put a team back in Dallas.  As you noted, the current owners would have to sign off on the move.   They arent giving up that kind of money.

    Scattershotting on the Luka Trade:

    - LeBron was unaware of the trade my ass. Rich Paul engineered the whole thing, so LeBron knew. I get staying friends with AD and all that, but this is the disingenuous shit that makes people hate LeBron.

    - Michael Finley allegedly hates Luka. The VP of Basketball Personnel pushed out their best player. That is absentee ownership to allow that to happen.

    - Nico Harrison defended the trade by saying defense wins championship. The most cliche bullshit phrase in all of sports is Mavs fans’ only solace. Just say you didn’t want to give Luka the max.

    - I don’t think there’s enough time for LeBron to “fix” Luka’s conditioning. The Lakers will just have to hope and give him the max. I wonder if they’ll give Luka a no-trade clause. It would insane if they did, but the Suns inexplicably gave Beal one.

    - I’ve never cared for the Harden-Luka comparisons. Sure their games are similar, but Luka shows up in the playoffs.

Beal's NTC came in Washington when he signed his last deal.   He waived it to go to PHX but it still remains in effect until his contract is up.

    Milwaukee started:

    Taurean Prince (7.5 ppg)
    Chris Livingston (0.4 ppg)
    AJ Green (7.9 ppg)
    Andre Jackson Jr (3.9 ppg)
    Ryan Rollins (4.6 ppg)

against the best team in the league.

I know they were on the back end of a back to back but they need to be fined for that shit.   Sitting half their team in their only visit to OKC is fucked for fans.

Just remember that they moved Charlotte to NO and then Charlotte immediately got a new franchise under expansion 2 years later.

Not far fetched that Vegas gets an established team due to ownership ties to Vegas and if the viewership and attendance craters after this fiasco and Dallas just gets one of the 2 new expansion teams

Dallas is a way bigger market than CHA (especially when that move happened) and the Mavs are a WAY bigger brand than the Hornets ever were with far more history.

I don't know what it takes to move a franchise in the NBA.  I know latching on to a theory straight from the script of Major League doesn't sound legit.

Especially when it would be infinitely more lucrative for the league to add a new franchise in Vegas than to move one there.

True or false, all the rumors about his conditioning being the issue has to burn Luka, and hopefully lights a fire under him to get into the best shape possible. Joke all you want about PEDs, but don't know that he will have a better teammate than LeBron if he truly cares about getting to and staying at an elite. If he even takes 50% of that dedication, it would be something to see. Of course, he could also just say, "fuck you, I'm going to win everything with Dadbod 2.0"

Nothing Nico Harrison has said since this came out has put to bed completely, the idea that this is just sabotage.

What exactly could he say that would convince you?

I do not, but I'm sure some of this will be dictated by the next 15-20 games.  And if Paul decides he'd rather chase a ring late and the Spurs are out of the playoffs, then good luck to him.  I don't care.

Yeah, if he was that pressed to ring chase he wouldnt have signed with SA in the first place.

Chicago got cucked for no talent, no potential, a couple of bench players off of a current play in team for their lone shiny attractable asset.  how did they not get the atlanta picks from SA? WTF? tell them youll sign the deal now if SA involves them or you can find another deal/wait until 2026 to get Fox.

Yeah, I've seen that they were so desperate to get Lavine's contract off their books but why?   No one is signing there.   They just subsidized SA getting Fox.   SA basically gave up nothing.  The 2031 MIN pick MIGHT end up good if Ant decides to dip.

I can't believe Castle wasn't in that trade, he has looked pretty good so far. Lots of potential there. hopefully he and Fox can coexist, but I don't know if it can work unless Castle figures out how to shoot better.

If I'm SAS, I look to move CP3 to the highest bidder if Anyone wants him. He knew what this was, and the team doesn't need him. Get the young guys more time on the court, and figure out how to integrate Fox with the remainder of the season. Next year should be a year to make a deep playoff run if all goes well.

They were pretty adamant that they werent going to include Castle in the deal.   I was just trying to figure out what CP3's move would be.   I dont know that any contender would trade for him.  Plenty would give him a spot if he was bought out but I'm not sure where he would fall in any contender's rotation.

let me guess.  they used last year's playoffs videos? he was playing on one knee.  daily injections in the knee, bleeding out during the games.  the game plan was for him to divert everyone to the middle where we had gafford, lively, or PJ.  it worked til the finals where boston could play 5 out.

    Nope

Over the last two seasons, Doncic has allowed a 44.7% blow-by rate as the primary defender on drives, the highest in the league during that span, per Second Spectrum.

The whole reason they went to that philosophy was because Luka was so bad and the worst part was he didnt even try.

These are all great points if you completely ignore the reality of what Luka and the Mavericks have done the past few seasons.

He’s a bad defender, but he’s not generationally bad, that’s dumb. He has actually been a useful piece on a good NBA defense, last fucking season. After making the trades for Gafford and PJ they were one of the best defenses in the league by every metric down the stretch. You just need the right pieces around him, he’s not an unsolvable liability on that end.

I don’t even want to argue the offensive side of it, mainly because arguing whether Luka’s offensive game is winning basketball or not is weapons grade stupid.

It was just shown on Get Up that he gets blown by more than any defender in the league.   Literally the worst

No idea why Golden State would want that contract after finally getting out of luxury tax hell. He raises their ceiling to what, 2nd round? And that's probably being generous.

Oy thing I can come up is they think they will get contract hunting Jimmy during the playoffs

The Heat’s Jimmy Butler has communicated to the Warriors that he’s unwilling to sign an extension there & therefore trade talks to send him to Golden State have ended for now, sources told ESPN.

He's trying to get to Phoenix but there is no way to do it without beal waiving his NTC.  Miami doesn't want beal and most of the teams that could help facilitate the trade beal wont go to.   It will be really interesting to see how it finally works out

Just repaying the favor for all the shit Mavs fans talked after the Spurs were forced to unload Kawhi. Now y'all are gonna be wandering the NBA wastelands for the foreseeable future. The Mavs will be good enough for a couple one and dones before returning to where they were the first year of Luka and several years before his arrival.

This is commonly referred to as bitchassness

😂. I was looking at it over and over and seeing people say it was more than dallas got for Luka.  Had to make sure I wasnt missing anything

Gotta love the Spurs fan coming in talking about Kawhi as if we give a fuck. Leonard isn’t in in Luka’s stratosphere and never was. He also wanted out of SA. Quit trying to contrite up comparisons to talk about the Spurs. Apples and oranges.

I like Luka as much as anyone.  Hes great but some of yall are really over hyping him
