How are classes sizes looking across the district? At Lamar, several of my kid's classes have 40+ kids (not including Algebra which has 39 kids). One teacher said she has 290 kids a day so they won't do much graded work since there's no way she can grade that much work. The class sizes seem insane. I don't remember them being this large last year.

i got my kid a a Capital One Savor card with a $1,000 limit. It was the best of the first time credit cards for teens. She uses it just for gas so it builds credit in just her name. She's also an authorized user on our Venture X. I didn't think this is how it worked but after she turned 18, she got credit as that being her account. She had an 805 as her first credit score due to having zero balance with $50,000 available credit.

Everyone should read this blog about AISD. AISD has more failing schools that Dallas, Houston, and Fort Worth combined (69K kids vs 370K kids). AISD is accomplishing this with half the poverty of those 3 districts. 14% of AISD students go to an F school while 1% of any of the other districts go to one. Took Lil’ Brown to Red Rocks to see Sombr. In passing I’ve heard a few songs she has played while in the car. No real opinion on him though. It was a great show. Every song was solid and I was surprised at what a rock show it was. My memory of the studio stuff is that it was mid temp electro pop but with a full live band and 2-3 electric guitars, the band brought it. During an extended jam, he made his way through the crowd and came down our row. He gave Lil’ Brown a high five and she just about stroked out. Very Killers with a bit of T Rex and Bowie mixed in. If your kid is a fan, take them. You’ll enjoy the show and the amount of talent in the crowd was ridiculous. It did make me realize Gen X and Millennial music is absolutely dead. It was the most electric crowd I’d seen in a decade.

AISD is now holding emergency meetings to close additional schools prior to this coming school year. At least Paredes and the 3 failing middle schools are on the chopping block. Around 3 weeks out from the first day of school and around ~1,000 kids will be reassigned to a new school. Good job, AISD!
