Is that bad?  Not really.  Aren't we all?

Let he who is not under investigation by the US Dept of Labor cast the first stone.

Who goes weeks without getting paid and keeps working? If you miss one paycheck, I'm not coming in ever again.

Sounds like Miguel is either going to prison or an early grave to escape it.

Something doesn't add up here. Apparently the restaurant was very busy in a space 10x the footprint of their trailer location, but was doing $1.5m less than what they were doing at the trailer?

I wonder how busy they actually were during weekday lunch hours.  No one works in Buda so the pool of customers has to be relatively small even compared to south Austin.  If you're a tourist in Austin looking for lunchtime BBQ, you ain't driving to Buda for BBQ. If you're a business looking to cater a work lunch, you ain't driving to Buda to pick it up.

The big trick is getting just enough vinegar in there to work as a preservative but not be able to taste it.

I always add 1 Tbsp of vinegar per quart of salsa but it's always gone in a week. I just found this chart online.

Tomatoes have a pH between 4 and 4.6. Acidification is required when pressure canning or boiling water bathing tomatoes.

Add one of the following for acidification: Pint Jars Quart Jars

    Bottled Lemon Juice

    1 tablespoon

    2 tablespoons

    Citric Acid

    ¼ teaspoon

    ½ teaspoon

    Vinegar (5 percent acidity)

    2 tablespoons

    4 tablespoons

*Add acid directly to the jars before filling with tomatoes. If desired, add up to 1 tablespoon of sugar per quart to offset acidic taste. Vinegar may cause undesirable flavor changes.

For live-action sitcoms, I'd rank Seinfeld first and everything else a far, far, far distant last.

    Sitcoms are generally terrible.

I think Seinfeld is the last network sitcom I watched.

I think Lost is the last network show I watched.

  5. Rubio and Obrian have been crucial adds.  They haven't been ruined by Wolff Ball and just press down field dragging everyone else with them.  It's done wonders for the team as a whole.  We only pass back to Stuver without reason maybe 3-5 times a game now instead of every possession. It's amazing how more productive your offense is when you don't allow the defense time to find its shape.

  6. A great improvement last night was the new rule that if you’re down more than 15 seconds, you must leave the pitch for 2 minutes. Amazingly no needed the trainers once last night.

true but they upped their output a ton and the quality didn't suffer.

The difference is they didn't up their output that much the day they opened the brick and mortar.  They eased into it over months.

  9. My legislation would require a non-compete to include a severance package that covers the time until it expires since the employer is blocking your right to work.  Either let me work elsewhere or pay me not to work. Your choice.

This was me with math in HS - taught mainly by coaches.  It wasn't until grad school that I realized it's not a great mystery and is actually pretty interesting and applicable.

We ended up getting a tutor. That's the best $50 a week I've ever spent.  It's been so successful, we're just going to keep the tutor for AP Calculus next year regardless if she needs it. A side benefit is that the tutor has taught her really good study skills.

  11. I think those critics were hoping for more of a backstory, and maybe some politics.

It had a ton to say about war photographers. I think most viewers may not realize it’s a movie about that and not war.

  12. Good flick, and even the title is FAFO-ish.

If you haven’t seen the director’s cut, find it. It’s a completely different movie but somehow even more bad ass.

  13. My wife thought it was meh. A lot of her older stuff was slowed down or dropped a key so she could sing it. She said Madonna looked like a toddler struggling to walk in mom’s high heels. Just own it. You’re almost 70. Put on those Sketchers. My wife left at 1:10 but didn’t know if there was an encore after that.

  14. Yeah…we’re going to tomorrow’s show. Sounds super fun.

Although now the wife and I can plan on a nice, late dinner. Then get to the show around 10:00, dressed pretty damned casually and comfortably.

My wife texted and said she came on at 10:20 and it was hot AF.
  15. My wife is at the Madonna concert.  Apparently, Madonna doesn't allow venues to use air conditioning and she hasn't been hitting the stage until 10:30-11 every night.  Her shows have been regularly ending between 12:30-1:00AM.  It's like she doesn't know her fanbase goes to bed at 9PM.

  16. Waterloo Records had 20% off of all records this weekend.

I filled some gaps in my Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam discographies, found a copy of the DJ Kicks: Kruder & Dorfmeister album, and picked up the new Kim Gordon and Hermanos Gutierrez albums.

  17. I guess we decided to abandon the attacking profile that won the last two games and just play Wolffball passing in our half until we give the ball away at midfield.
