  1. Apparently. I couldn’t believe it when the agent said that. It hadn’t been used since the day before but the scheduling system kept pushing my flight instead of bringing that plane into service. Makes me wonder if they run it with post it notes on a giant board. When it got rescheduled the gate number was “LIMA”. I had to ask the agent WTF that meant so she told me about the missing plane.
  2. I guess I’ll have to stock up on a dozen pairs before the quality goes to shit as they try to meet quarterly earnings estimates.
  3. Ted Cruz showed up in my feed and I reported him for false information and blocked him.
  4. Had a connection through St. Louis today. I received a total of 16 texts with a new departure time. The OG was at 4:45. It got pushed to 5:20, 5:15, 6:50, 5:30, 7:40, 9:15, and 10:20. Back and forth multiple times. When it changed to the final 10:20 departure, the gate agent said our plane was coming from Jacksonville and she’d let us know when it was actually in the air. So, we head to the lounge at 4:00. An hour later I get a text that it’s now 5:40. They had an unused plane sitting at the airport that no one knew about. So they fired it up to get us to Austin.
  5. The sign with salaries at bucees is pretty impressive. Assistant managers over $100K, GM over $200K+. You’re in some shithole like Luling making more than local doctors for stocking beef jerky.
  6. We’ve gone all in on the detergent sheets. So much easier than dealing with the giant Tide jug.
  7. I’d make sure you spend time in the locals areas and not get sucked in to the Plaza area too much. I’d bet when living there, you won’t do the tourist stuff as much but the day to day conveniences are what you’d need to learn more about.
  8. The only downside to Threads right now is that it’s Instagram. I want Threads to be news and current affairs so it’s difficult to clean up my follows when I can’t see my follows. Also, 2 days in and the Austin American Statesman isn’t aware Threads exists and has no presence. Maybe they don’t want to piss off Elon on the slim hope he gives them some access in the future.
  9. I limped around for years. My knee and heel pain was so bad, I could hardly walk. Started wearing soft bed Birks and within 2 months, the pain went away completely.
  10. Plantar fasciitis. Wearing birks cured it. I won’t be going back to being a barefoot savage.
  11. I wear socks with Birkenstocks all the time. Mainly because I switch to sneakers when I go outside and wear birks indoors. I’m not removing socks every time I change shoes.
  12. Just an FYI, Reddit has subreddits for every kink you can imagine. My understanding is that since it’s not a porn site by definition, those subreddits won’t be blocked.
  13. I hadn’t heard of Threads until I got online this morning. The interface is flawless. For a platform that has existed for hours, it feels like it’s been there for years. It was ridiculously simple to set up with an Instagram account.
  14. Reminds of the most fucked up thing I’ve ever seen on the Discovery channel. It was about a guy in Siberia that had that exact part of his face bitten off by a bear. He somehow survived on his own and feed himself with a straw he put in his throat hole since he didn’t have a mouth. It was fucking nightmare fuel.
  15. Are Muslims now free to kill infidels?
  16. 5am today. Precheck was 5 minutes. Maybe 30 people in line. The poors line looked like it was 20-30 minutes.
  17. I've heard 50+ Madonna songs. I don't know if I've even heard a Beyonce song.
  18. Get to fly out on Saturday at 6AM. We all have pre-check so hopefully that helps somewhat.
  19. I'm pretty sure that grainy low res pic of me on the Costco card was from when it opened in Austin 20 years ago. Good luck matching that up to a human.
  20. I think a friend of mine made this mistake. She's an excellent realtor and has a dozen rental properties. A few years ago, she decided to enter the AirBnB game but due to house location, which was great for a long-term rental, it never, ever rented. A 3/2, completely remodeled and nicely furnished but it would only occasionally rent to a family that was visiting relatives the vicinity. Pretty sure that to date she's never made back the furniture expenses from rental fees but did okay selling it at the height of the market.
  21. The chef's kiss will be a reduction in white admissions as universities start using socio-economic and other non-race based criteria to assure a well rounded incoming class. I'd bet the GQP starts screaming for race based admissions within a decade.
  22. Once it breaks $7, I'm setting a stop-loss at a dollar below every barrier it crosses. My cost basis is $1.98.
  23. If you just go to Google Maps and enter "short term rental", many of them pop up there with a link directly to the property manager's website that is always cheaper per night and with none of the bullshit fees. I've had really good luck going that route.
