  1. I just booked a flight from Austin to NOLA for 48 hours, coming up the first week of January. Is that a bad call with the covid #s? I know it's questionable....but my body needs some food from NOLA.
  2. I used to read the recruiting threads daily. I don't think I've clicked on this thread since the summer.
  3. Speaking of ball boys, does Chris Jessie have any eligibility left???
  4. IMG_5113.MOV loads on iPhone but not my PC for whatever reason
  5. Almost sinking, did not put in rear hatch plugs which normally wasn't a big deal but with some husky fisherman and a 20 gallon trash can of live croaker in one corner of the boat it was a big deal that day, causing water to get into the hull. Was a bit of a surprise when I looked over, on the other side of my buddy's boat, where mine was "parked" nose up at a 45 degree angle, while I was wading about 500 yards away. A long ass run from Farwell to the Lagoon with no plugs, beached it, jumped out and put the plugs back in. Went back to catching fish. Sinking. You should buy new drain plugs on a yearly basis. They're cheap. The boat sat in the slip too many days of limits and one night, that was that. Next morning the plan to slay them again hit a bump. Not a good walkup to the dock, to say the least. I learned all I ever need to know about raising boats from the bottom of the bay from the man who salvaged everything in the valley, the late Billy Kennon. Made a couple grand on the insurance claim after buying it back as salvage and re-selling it.
  6. Yes it was a search and rescue mission Yes there is and I should be there. I have: sunk a 22" boat in SPI, not entirely my fault but I was the captain, and almost sunk that same boat (POC, my fault) prior.....incidentally I frequently had nightmares about the boat sinking before it sank (22' Stoner Skiff) almost sunk a 16" boat at the Galveston jetties boat cut (filled it up, maintained power, turned and bailed/drained in time, a lot of belongings to recover floating in the channel) hit two deer at the same time, swimming the creek on the last turn coming out the east end of Pringle (POC) rescued the coast guard who was rescuing another boater in a storm and lost power in East Matagorda

  12. this is all a ploy by Urbs and OSU to bring down Texas, destroy Herm and keep the pipeline open, nothing to see here....
  13. Yes, Gulf Blvd. If you buy, make sure you have a good HOA and one that has capital on hand. Review them and the declarations and bylaws before you purchase. Our financials are very strong and the building has excellent maintenance. If maintenance has been deferred, prepare for special assessments. We frequently have some sort of improvement project going on, new pool deck, pool surface, outdoor restrooms and showers, balconies, etc. Adjacent to city of SPI newly improved beach access point is a huge plus for hauling bulky items directly to the beach. Seven day minimum rental keeps out the riff raff. All things to consider. It ain't cheap though. Our beach bank account deposit is $1,500 a month for a budget that covers everything, including utilities (average under $100/mo.), slush fund for inevitable repairs. Taxes ~$5,500/yr, HOA ~$8000/yr., and additional insurance for windstorm/contents is ~$1,300/yr. It's a buyer's market, if you make an offer, lowball it. The drive is worth it, SPI is a unique part of Texas.
  14. Left sock and left shoe/boot always go on first. i never park in the parking lot on the west side of the courthouse.
  15. Yeah it was a beautiful week, I was down for 8 more days and just got back. That's 13 days in the last 17 at my condo. The weather was perfect, I swam in the ocean every day, was up before dawn each day with the dog on the beach for long walks, smoked the trouts and reds on plastics, played washers and drank an excessive amount of beer and bourbon. Crushed brews at Laguna Bob's, ate enchiladas at Cap'n Roy's and made some bad ass meals. Put some motherfuckers in the wall on the go cart track. Played golf at SPI golf club in Laguna Vista in 30+ wind. Also got some work in sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean drinking Bailey's and coffee before the masses rose from their slumbers.
  16. Picked tomatoes today ahead of the freeze, we will fry many green ones and ripen them in the window
  17. Put the smackdown on them in SPI on Thanksgiving on pearl chartreuse plastics.
