Could you provide photos of these chicken fried steaks of which you speak?

Photos of the sides would be optional.

I went on a weeklong cruise, where I purchased the Unlimited Booze package. I put on about 17 pounds in 8 days. Probably something to do with the 5 or 6 piña coladas every day for breakfast, binge drinking rum & cokes and beers for hours on end, and buffet eating like a starving hyena.

Similar story just substitute vodka and grapefruit juice for those other drinks. Turns out after a point its the cruise line that decides what "all you can drink" really means

I recently found out that, to Carnival, unlimited = 15 in a 24 hour period. Bastards seriously ruined my buzz. No recon on other cruise lines yet.

I think Hager had 7.8lbs of hair. Maybe that is what Simmons has been working on. Is it unusual to have an 8lb gain in body hair in a month?

I had a friend named Bernie Benavidez in 7th grade who did exactly that. The rest of us were just thinking about wearing deodorant, while Bernie had to shave every morning.

Yes I said EITHER because the only possible way anyone could gain anywhere near 20 lbs of muscle in a time frame even in that ballpark is through heavy testosterone boost. Obviously the answer isn't that and it's that CJ misspoke. I was being facetious you fuck nut

He got washed out a fair bit against the run, and I expect that to improve each week. His pass rush is already elite game-wrecking level.

He is a bit over-aggressive vs the run, but it is a double-edged sword. Sometimes he gets up field and gets the TFL (MSU game). Sometimes it gets him in trouble (MSU). He is so talented, that he could break the rules in HS and still win consistently. He is going to have to learn, when to break the rules in college. He is one of those talents, you dont want to over-coach.

His pass rush is scary, because I dont think he has been developed his pass rushing repertoire. Probably missed something but seems to be just a pure speed rush at this pt. Going to be fun when he develops some counters.

He'll have to get stronger for sure. The problem with speed rushing is that it usually means looping from the outside leaving an inside gap. It's pretty hard to maintain gap integrity when rushing. He is fast enough though that he can often close the gap before the running back makes it to the hole.

Once he adds an inside move and a power move it's over for tackles.

He we will figure it out. He will learn to hit the bull rush, when he sees the OT on skates rushing back to mitigate his speed. His bull rush will be about leverage, not pure strength. I just havent seen him use his hands much or use a counter. Been straight sprint to QB or some kind of juke and go.

You are dead right on getting out of his pass rush lane (run game is applicable also). That was the double-edged sword I was talking about. You are going to have to live with some of that as a coach, because he can just make plays that other guys can not. He is on pace for double digit sacks. Texas has not had someone with 10 sacks going back to 2016 (cfbstats.com - 2017 Texas Longhorns Sacks, site doesnt go back further). He has 6 TFLs (1.2 per game). Only Ossai in 2020 (1.78 per) and Omenihu (1.29 per) have been better since 2016. Simmons is a freshman and not logging the same snaps as those guys (yet). You dont want to turn him into a robot and lose that play making ability. You have to try to rein him in a bit, but not too much. The biggest thing for him will be gaining the experience that helps him figure out when to break the rules.

I'm honestly more worried about how he plays against counter / pulling guards in the run game. Instead of crashing down on the pulling guard to jam the lane up from the outside, he tries to dip inside the guard to put himself in the lane. It happened at least three times on Saturday. I understand wanting to get in the running back's lane, but when he goes inside he gives up contain. It did not look like Gbenda or Blackwell were prepared to trade jobs, and that shit can bite us on the ass with how bad their run fits have been. Maybe Simmons isn't not big enough to effectively crash down, but we can't give up contain like that.

At any rate, it's not a huge issue. Burke struggled with it too back in '22 and figured it out soon enough. I'm just picking nits because he's otherwise so good as a true freshman.

Edit: Here's an example of what I'm talking about
