  1. It’s such a deep QB draft, he can come back, try for the heisman and have a much better shot at being a top 2 qb drafted next year.
  2. If Ewers returns and they add a couple WR weapons in the portal is he the favorite for the Heisman next season? Almost the entire OL returning and some very good RBs.
  3. he’s pat mahomes, he’s cj stroud, he’s a longhorn legend, he’s a heisman candidate. the worshipping of a guy who’s done nothing of import at Texas is wild.
  4. You are a trip, Winston and manziel are the only redshirt freshman to ever win the heisman. They both sucked shit through a straw as “nfl qb’s”. Your entire argument is all over the fucking place. Winning a heisman as a redshirt freshman means you’ll be a starter in the nfl then the two guys that did were so shitty they never became full time starters. I’m feeding the troll here damn it.
  5. You’re comparing our QB situation Saturday to the reigning Heisman Trophy winner who has a career 165 passer rating and 66/10 TD/INT ratio?
  6. OK, new era. Kyler Murray. Heisman Trophy winner. Freshman year: 59.5%, 686 yards, 5 TD, 7 INT Lamar Jackson. Heisman Trophy winner. Freshman year: 54.7%, 1840 yards, 12 TD, 8 INT I mean, when will you see that Quinn is pretty similar to all kinds of guys who ended up being great but started out kinda rough?
  7. I mean of course we would all take another Vince but a Ewers/Colt combo has first overall pick/HOF potential on top of MNC/Heisman potential.
  8. Lol. "Go look at the great QBs!" *Looks at Heisman winners* "You're self-selecting!" He did, but was looking specifically at Freshman->Sophomore. Burrow's senior year was unworldly.
  9. Well, QB is prime Heisman material. It's almost unfair. If Quinn finishes in the 165 range, especially if the team only has one loss (and especially none), he's going to NYC.
  10. It's been a looooong fucking time since Texas put out a legitimate Heisman performance at QB. Ewers put on the best showing by a Texas QB since Colt beat #1 OU.
  11. Gotcha. Appreciate the correction. I remember the #1 hype, but I assumed it was after his sophomore campaign. Still can't that dude never walked away with a Heisman. He's an incredible talent
  12. So Quinn isn't as good as two 5th/6th year guys and a returning Heisman winner that was pegged as the top qb in the draft before the season started? Welp, I'm out on him now.
  13. I know we all saw it but it needs to be stated again and again: in a game with a Heisman winning QB playing for the #1 ranked team in the country, the better QB was a freshman starting his second game.
  14. Ewers can't transfer anywhere. And he's probably going to be the Heisman frontrunner next season, so getting beaten out by a true freshman seems unlikely, to put it mildly. Unless he was just joking.
  15. Eh, he's close. His Passing Eff rating is 164.7, and Caleb Williams won the Heisman at 168.5, so Quinn's not far off. Then again, Williams is currently at 217.7, so Quinn's pretty far off.
  16. If we win out, he’ll be in the conversation. The emerging perception is that his presence takes us from just decent to great. Heisman is the MVP, hence why quarterbacks win it more than not. They’re the most important position on a team. If our QB causes us to win out, win the CCG, be in the conversation for a CFP spot (I’m basing that off some national media people making noise), our only losses being when he was injured, and we continue to curb stomp lesser competition, Quinn will absolutely be in the Heisman conversation. I’m not holding my breath for any of that. I think we drop at least one more game. I think UT getting to the CCG means the big 12 has as much parity as it currently appears, and a couple 2 loss teams are battling it out. With that said, Quinn will be a preseason 2023 Heisman favorite.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean by "Heisman-like" season, but I can totally see him (a) getting better (b) not going to NYC and (c) being a first round pick. QB potential is a drug for NFL GMs.
  18. Let's not aggy this up. Ewers is having a good season and continues to improve, but he's not playing at a Heisman level. That's not a bad thing. If Ewers plays out of his mind, he'd probably be on the bench way before he throws for 400 yards and 5 or 6 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels need those numbers for their teams to have a chance. Ewers just has to drive the bus. If he's in the Heisman conversation, it's because he ran over all of Texas' opponents, backed up, and then ran over them again.
  19. Just looked up the Heisman winning QBs since 2012. There's some of that -- but only two didn't play much freshman seasons. In general, it seems if they are in the right system, they light it up quickly. Nine Heisman-winning QBs. Two didn't really play freshman year (Young, Burrow). Of the remaining 7, just 3 saw a big improvement from freshman to sophomore years -- Jackson, Murray, and Mayfield. Murray and Mayfield's progress also coincided with a transfer to OU. Caleb Williams: Bryce Young: Burrow: Murray: Mayfield: Jackson: Mariota: Winston: Manziel:
  20. So you are already setting it up that he can be top 5 for Heisman, go super high in the nfl draft and yet your opinion is right? I love you man, but this is a horrifically stupid take and corner you’ve backed yourself into.
  21. Colt led us to a 3-1 record over OU, was a Heisman candidate three times, and had us a Gideon dropped pass away from back to back national championship game appearances. Please dont disrespect Colt like that.
  22. I don't necessarily disagree with anything in your post except the part where you call Ewers the frontrunner for the 2023 Heisman. He's on the 'watch' list, for sure, but the front runner? I don't think so. Based on Quinn's past health history, I fully expect Arch to get serious playing time next season when Quinn is inevitably sidelined with some kind of injury. EDIT: Well, fuck me. I see that Ewers is tied with Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe in current Vegas' betting odds for the 2024 Heisman. I'll go get my shinebox.
  23. And 04/05/08/09 were the good years out of 03-09. 7 years and 3 weren’t title contention years. Point is QBs need time to develop. QE would be an all American and heisman finalist next year IMO.
  24. Is QE going to win the Heisman this year or next? If he comes back, he probably goes first in the draft next year and will most definitely go on to have a better career than Tom Brady. So glad he is our QB 1.
  25. I probably wouldn't bet on that, but the few guys who will lead the Heisman discussion haven't emerged as a group yet, and the kid is getting a ton of love, so it's possible there's an opening there for him to go through omg a beto ad just covered up my typing
