  1. The Heisman has always been nonsense. My only problem is people thinking there was some shift 15 years ago. That being said, it's obviously still a positive for the program and a feather in the cap of to the winner.
  2. So Quinn isn't as good as two 5th/6th year guys and a returning Heisman winner that was pegged as the top qb in the draft before the season started? Welp, I'm out on him now.
  3. He has had a balanced attack his entire time as an OC, dating back to USC, washington and even the bama teams that had a heisman WR. He is methodical about being balanced.
  4. Quinn is a very good QB, you can see why he was a five star. But yeah he isn't going to be an All-American Heisman Trophy winning kind of guy. Unfortunately. Maybe Manning will.
  5. Just woke up this morning with the thought of. . . the Heisman trophy was there for the taking for Quinn unless something drastic happens its going to be between a group of 5 RB and offense/defensive player (Hunter) smh crazy
  6. Ewers can't transfer anywhere. And he's probably going to be the Heisman frontrunner next season, so getting beaten out by a true freshman seems unlikely, to put it mildly. Unless he was just joking.
  7. Pretty sure the preseason plan wasn't grinding games to a close with our 3rd- and 4th-string RB's but it's become a necessity since our preseason Heisman-hopeful QB1 cannot get (or stay) healthy.
  8. I know we all saw it but it needs to be stated again and again: in a game with a Heisman winning QB playing for the #1 ranked team in the country, the better QB was a freshman starting his second game.
  9. Eh, he's close. His Passing Eff rating is 164.7, and Caleb Williams won the Heisman at 168.5, so Quinn's not far off. Then again, Williams is currently at 217.7, so Quinn's pretty far off.
  10. I'm not sure how you see it that way. Colt took over a loaded roster in 2006, and the team was pretty salty by 2008/2009. Ewers took over a less salty roster and got to them to the final four teams in his second year. I'm not sure why you would demand an actual title and the Heisman to place him above Colt when Colt achieved neither. I'd say if Quinn gets Texas to the title game then he gets the nod, regardless of Heisman results.
  11. If we win out, he’ll be in the conversation. The emerging perception is that his presence takes us from just decent to great. Heisman is the MVP, hence why quarterbacks win it more than not. They’re the most important position on a team. If our QB causes us to win out, win the CCG, be in the conversation for a CFP spot (I’m basing that off some national media people making noise), our only losses being when he was injured, and we continue to curb stomp lesser competition, Quinn will absolutely be in the Heisman conversation. I’m not holding my breath for any of that. I think we drop at least one more game. I think UT getting to the CCG means the big 12 has as much parity as it currently appears, and a couple 2 loss teams are battling it out. With that said, Quinn will be a preseason 2023 Heisman favorite.
  12. I mean, theoretically they should both see it and know what to do. I’d like to think the rs junior 3 year starter Heisman candidate qb would at least notice it and let the true freshman WR know.
  13. I'm not sure what you mean by "Heisman-like" season, but I can totally see him (a) getting better (b) not going to NYC and (c) being a first round pick. QB potential is a drug for NFL GMs.
  14. We have been struggling at the QB position off and on for most of the season. Right now, Arch Manning is the betting favorite to win the 2025 Heisman. It is an extremely defensible position to think we'd be better on offense right now with Arch.
  15. Ewers isn't winning the Heisman because he played against ULM or losing out on it because he sat. "Heisman moment" is a phrase for a reason. His chances at that award will be based on his and the term's performance in three games, absent any complete clunkers: Oklahoma Georgia Texas A&M If he lights those three up he is in great shape and no one will remember he sat out a game or two against cupcakes in September. If he doesn't, ULM or Mississippi State highlights aren't going to save him.
  16. Let's not aggy this up. Ewers is having a good season and continues to improve, but he's not playing at a Heisman level. That's not a bad thing. If Ewers plays out of his mind, he'd probably be on the bench way before he throws for 400 yards and 5 or 6 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels need those numbers for their teams to have a chance. Ewers just has to drive the bus. If he's in the Heisman conversation, it's because he ran over all of Texas' opponents, backed up, and then ran over them again.
  17. Just looked up the Heisman winning QBs since 2012. There's some of that -- but only two didn't play much freshman seasons. In general, it seems if they are in the right system, they light it up quickly. Nine Heisman-winning QBs. Two didn't really play freshman year (Young, Burrow). Of the remaining 7, just 3 saw a big improvement from freshman to sophomore years -- Jackson, Murray, and Mayfield. Murray and Mayfield's progress also coincided with a transfer to OU. Caleb Williams: Bryce Young: Burrow: Murray: Mayfield: Jackson: Mariota: Winston: Manziel:
  18. all the more reason we can’t have our “heisman contender” qb playing like 3rd string true freshman who needs to make every throw within two seconds of the snap and within 5 yards of the LOS.
  19. Quinn will win the Heisman and the NC. Book it. It'll springboard us to landing a couple of oos 5 star RB's, too. Choice and Baker will get Georgia DT'S, Choice will get 1-2 5 star RB's from Alabama or Mississippi.
  20. So you are already setting it up that he can be top 5 for Heisman, go super high in the nfl draft and yet your opinion is right? I love you man, but this is a horrifically stupid take and corner you’ve backed yourself into.
  21. Arch gonna be a top 3 Heisman favorite if he starts the next 2 games against these shitty teams. He's already getting the 7th best odds at BetGM because they know he's about to torch the teams coming up on the schedule.
  22. Colt led us to a 3-1 record over OU, was a Heisman candidate three times, and had us a Gideon dropped pass away from back to back national championship game appearances. Please dont disrespect Colt like that.
  23. I don't necessarily disagree with anything in your post except the part where you call Ewers the frontrunner for the 2023 Heisman. He's on the 'watch' list, for sure, but the front runner? I don't think so. Based on Quinn's past health history, I fully expect Arch to get serious playing time next season when Quinn is inevitably sidelined with some kind of injury. EDIT: Well, fuck me. I see that Ewers is tied with Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe in current Vegas' betting odds for the 2024 Heisman. I'll go get my shinebox.
  24. Not telling anyone anything they don’t know, … The whole Heisman discussion at this point is of course ridiculous. He was on fire when he went out. We’ve got a scrimmage next week and SEC roadkill the next game. He picks up where he left off and we steamroll our way to the Conference Championship nobody will even remember he missed a couple of games and he’ll win it. And…in the worst case scenario that he’s out for an extended period of time…well then no shit, he won win the Heisman. If his odds continue to fall a couple hundred would be a worthy investment
  25. Yeah. Arch looked good but you could tell the difference between the 2. Quinn throws such a pretty ball. Arch will be fine. But let’s stop and smell the roses. Quinn is damn good and if he keeps playing like this he will win the heisman. #AllIn4Quinn
