  1. Great series win . Taking 2/3 on the road is a big builder for the rest of the way. Patchwork lineup and while we still have work to do, the bullpen stepped up and guys found a way to win against a pain in the ass scrappy team. Nice home stand coming up, get out to the games as Schloss said post game they'll need us! Let's go!! 🤘
  2. Never in doubt! Texas wins the series and remains in first place in the conference. Let's go home and see if we can remember how to hit.
  3. Where do we see Ange now? Are we going to rinse repeat and sack him before the end of the season? Or actually give him time in the PL and look to win Europa?
  4. A lot of that stable will be gone in the offseason. TAA being out throws a major wrench into the offense. It's a challenge Slot will need to overcome going into next season. We're on our way to the title because we've lost 2 matches all year, not just because Arsenal stepped on rakes. Maybe Elliott and Chiesa just don't show him enough in training to get on the pitch over Gakpo. Endo is always the lock it down sub but the game was tight. I think saying we're able to win the league due to Arsenal not being good kind of shits on the totality of what the team has done the entire season. The defense was getting clean sheets left and right for a good portion of the year. That's how you win the league. Go count up how many clean sheets we've had this year. I get being frustrated but we won. 6 points and we're lifting a cup, something that rarely happens when your name's not City.
  5. Our lineup is not very good and will keep us from winning a title this year. Pitching is good enough to win it all with a good lineup, but even with Belyeu coming back, we still have 1-2 holes in the lineup and a way too many Ks from our “good” hitters. The whiff on Winfield really hurt us. I guess I got a little caught up in the early-success and need to temper back the expectations to a successful year 1 being just making it to Omaha. With a full offseason, the staff should be eying about 4 legitimate transfer bats to go with a decent starting base of Rodriguez, Borba, Mendoza and Gasparino. Should get a couple impact freshman bats on campus with the way Schloss has been recruiting, so that will help with depth. Pitching will not be an issue next year.
  6. We aren't going to win this game, so why not peg Tim Anderson with that 96 mph fastball?
  7. We shouldn’t need Ruger to win a Sunday in this series. Need to stop the bleeding. 2 runs isn’t going to win this.
  8. Should Tennessee have renegotiated after he didn’t win the starting job as a true freshman, but still going to make 2 million? (Was it 2 per for 4 or didn’t escalate, and he would be making more than 2 this year?) both parties seemingly wanted some cost certainty, Tenn at the back of the deal and Nico at the front end. Now Nico got past the point where the deal was biased to his side and blows it up before Tenn can get their value portion. Tenn gets to not spend that money now and we will see what the market bears for Nico now, but tenn’s savings also come with losing their qb1 in April and the development time they spent on him and didn’t spend elsewhere. so I’ll stick with it being a poor reflection on them.
  9. 4-2 win over Georgia today. We do seem to be banged up as Gorzny played only doubles, and Lucas Brown + Oliver were out of the lineup entirely. One more regular season SEC match to go.
  10. The GQP has proven over and over again that extremist, crazy-ass stuff wins. Dems need to lean into the crazy on the other end of the spectrum. Free health care, wipe out all student debt, ban guns, tax the billionaires at 90% of net wealth, any corporation worth more than $10bln gets busted up, five cents per share tax on any stock held less than 15 minutes, no more loans against stock holdings. Complete overhaul of corrupt police departments across the nation. Defense spending limit no higher than the next three highest nations combined. Declare the GQP a domestic terror organization. Total ban on algo-based social media. Etc etc etc. We'd get smoked, but at least we go down trying instead of this touchy-feely bullshit that does no one any good.
  11. The annual Liucci Sunshine on the offense . Can we have someone, maybe the Rogue Shop can do this, point out to me when my hair gets that little rat tail coming out, like I had during the entire Bucky McMillan interview? My hair was coming out of the back of the hat, and it was a tuft of hair popping out. Marcel Reed has come a long way. He looks so comfortable. He's getting it out quick and getting into less trouble. Only the games will tell, but I still want to see deadly accuracy down the field. I like a guy who can run and create so many problems, and you can give up a little bit in terms of being a passer. Some guys can't throw as accurately as others, but because they can run so well, they're still weapons. Jalen Hurts is like that. Sometimes, Josh Allen is like that. My issue with Reed last year was he was spraying it around beyond 10-15 yards, and it was hit or miss. You have to square that away because you have to have the consistent big-play element. The throw from Reed to Noah Thomas against Auburn, it’s about if he can do that consistently with A&M's running game, Reed's ability to run and with Collin Klein drawing things up to get rid of the ball quickly. A&M is going to miss Thomas, by the way. Watching these receivers, it's a better receiving corps. If Thomas' decision doesn't work out for him at Georgia, it's going to be a disastrous one for him and A&M. I didn't like that move after his best year here. A&M will try to go get somebody else, potentially in this upcoming portal window. Jerome Myles is an interesting guy. Looking at this receiver unit, I see a lot of speed, but I don't see much size. They're going to be little at receiver. KC Concepcion is muscled up, but he's not tall. Mario Craver is small, but he's very fast. Ashton Bethel-Roman is slight and skinny, but he's very, very fast. Concepcion is explosive as hell. Terry Bussey has missed some practices. You'll have Bussey, Concepcion and Craver, who has a different gear. Bethel-Roman is the same way. Izaiah Williams has made some catches lately. I would throw in Amari Niblack because he's a weapon that is called a tight end, but he's going to be a hybrid tight end-receiver. Damn, he looks good physically and catching the ball, getting upfield. I don't know what was going on at Texas other than him being behind Gunnar Helm, who was one of the best tight ends in the country. Maybe it's that Holmon Wiggins is his guy. That group of pass-catchers will be a big step up in terms of speed, quickness and play-making ability. The only matchup problem I see is potentially Niblack. However, their speed is scary. Maybe Myles can be a matchup problem when he gets here. He's got good size and runs a 4.10 40-yard dash. He's coming off an ACL injury suffered in October, but he should come in running and playing. You trust true freshmen when they're here in the spring, and you would've loved to have him here in January. This is going to be a fast group of receivers. As a unit, the tight ends might be the most improved group on the roster this year. Just the depth and physicality of the group. If you count Niblack, you have a true hybrid receiver. You've got a guy who can make big catches up the seem in Theo Melin Öhrström. You’ve got Nate Boerkircher, Micah Riley, and Eric Karner is here. I like that room, and you have a true freshman who, if you just looked at Kiotti Armstrong, you'd go, "What round is he going in?" It's a nice group of tight ends, and there's a lot of physicality there. Boerkircher could be a sleeper portal pickup that benefits you a lot more than people realize just from what he might do for you in the running game. Offensively, we've talked a lot about this offensive line. We know what they have coming back. We know what they have with the experience. They've been good this spring. The defense had a really nice scrimmage last week. I did a write-up. It was the offense. We'll do defense later. We'll talk defense maybe next week. I think the offensive line is going to be strong. I think the running game is going to be potent. I think they're better at receiver, but I wish they had size. That concerns me. They don't have this big outside threat, and that's where losing Thomas hurts. So much of this is going to be Reed's development and his leap. He has to. He did some nice things last year, but he wasn't close to good enough for A&M to win 10 games, or even nine, on that schedule. To get to 10 and in the playoff or nine and show noteworthy improvement, Reed has to make a big leap. That's understandable. I believe he can. I believe he will, but he has to do it. When you see the great plays, the running ability and the instincts, you realize what that could look like when he puts it all together. It's a lot on him, but shame on you for letting everyone get a glimpse of how good you can play because now you have to do it consistently. It's a high bar, but you're not winning in this league unless you have a top-five quarterback in this conference
  12. Went a few weeks ago and saw the Eagles at the Sphere. It was awesome. I was burned out on the Eagles but the Sphere experience made it seem new. We stayed at Vdara which was awesome. It didn't have a casino but was tied to Cosmo, Bellagio and Aria. No casino meant no huge lines for taxis, ubers or checking in or out. We ate at Nobu and Jean George. Both were meh. Nobu was crazy expensive and 100% not worth it. Jean George--had better steak at outback. Oh well live and learn. Was going to play Shadow Creek but my game blows and the weather was cold rainy and blowing like Bandon on a bad day. Saved that $1500. Put $100 on the Gators to win the natty so that worked out well. Broke even on about everything else (isn't that what everyone says that doesn't win big).
  13. I like that it just ended like a shift ending. You don't get resolution on the measles kid. There's no dumb cliff hangers thrown in at the end. I guess we'll see if Langdon is allowed back and if Dana returns though we know she will with Robbie saying see you Monday. I really liked Dr. Abbott. The actor made the most of his scenes. I don't think a show has grabbed me from the start and not let go like this one in quite a while. There was really no down episodes. This needs to win multiple awards.
  14. If your standard for candidate excellence is Obama then you're living in fantasy land. No one is going to measure up. John Kerry DESTROYED the field in the primary. In response to a post making the claim that the Dems are somehow holding back their best candidates because elites within the party are dictating who can win, your recommendation is "find someone else"? I guess we can bullshit about whatever on the thread but it's not constructive. If your complaint is that you wish there were better options, then I agree with you, but I don't see a better option who was ignored.
  15. This is exactly it. I avoided the thread because I was in a dark place Tuesday with my buddy who I go to a lot of games with. Firing Malone is admitting that our current set of stars and bench won’t work, at least to me. I really can’t believe we gave Murray the contract we did with how bad he played at the Olympics. I don’t think we get anywhere close to value on getting rid of him. To Derka’s point about not caring about winning enough with ownership I completely agree. So pissed that last year we weren’t willing to go over the second apron.
  16. WuLaw is basically good guy, but his Economics are more of the Navarro variety. And I can see getting really excited over a "win." Especially when you thought you were going to be making big bank writing mortgages, writing deals with a 5 in the front of them. So, I imagine there is a lot of stress for everyone in the RE business, especially lending. Now you have potential buyers with less net worth in nearly every case than they had two weeks ago. Risk is everywhere, and rates on the 30 year moved up?!?! 10 year not going where you thought. That.s not side investment account money, that's how you make a living money. So I give him a pass on getting so excited on seeing some real hope. I also like to hear from opposing views. I also wish that when folks come to this thread they do insert at least a little bit of prediction, question or something specific! beyond the obvious political aspects of this. Hey, I got run over in covid as I was more of a newbie, and was stupidly not in the market a month before the VIX started moving. As I was the first person talking about the impending doom as any bad info getting out of China means really bad. And I had a big stack in the bank looking to buy another flip house. I got smoked as I came in late and the Fed saved the day. I knew the Fed was unlikely to save on a disaster made by an individual, when the individual could change course. I had the losses that educated me better on the Fed's powers. I sort of see the market as vacillating, getting the occasional move upwards but more of a slow drift downward. UNLESS - We have a slew of deals with a bunch of countries starting today and running through the weekend. It will be interesting to see. Or will we see a weekend of Sunday News shows of mostly incoherence when it comes to the math? If my calls expire OTM I will carry some positions through the weekend. So how many deals inked by Next Wednesday? Now that everyone that is negotiating with him knows who was the first to blink under pressure? Does that influence negotiating strategy, when your strategy was strength? Or am I misreading that? *** What really sucks is we saw what could have been today regarding inflation. What a fucking shame.
  17. Very cool. Our son-in-law's father is a huge Clark fan and whenever we go to visit them and Phil is around the conversation will eventually come around to how much better Clark is than the "modern" F1 drivers. I eventually looked up his career and holy shit did he dominate racing for 8 years. The percentages for laps lead, poles, podiums, and wins are crazy. One thing I hadn't ever heard about was the wreck in 1961 when he was going to be charged with manslaughter before being cleared.
  18. Team Stay Ready thoughts: - It’s painfully obvious why Whitmore hasn’t been playing more. The guy doesn’t play team defense or offense. When his shot isn’t falling, his only elite skill is crashing the boards and dunking junk around the basket. His ball handling isn’t above average so I question his ability to be prolific driver. I think he’s talked/played his way out of attractive trade bait. I’d love to get a conditional first for him, but that’s not happening. Maybe he’s a piece we can package in the next big move. - As I mentioned above, Reed looked good. I think the team is encouraging him to work on his floater and it for sure needs work. I think he has good instincts on when to shoot. Always in rhythm, nothing awkward. He also looked good on defense. Really active hands, forced some steals. - Holiday should be playing more. He had a really nice game. I know he’s a good shooter, but he did some interesting things going to the rim. If FVV continues to slump… Holiday could bail us out in the playoffs with some timely threes. - Dante looked really athletic but raw as hell. I’d continue to roster him and play him a ton in the G League. Poor man’s Adams down the road? The guy is really strong and just big/broad. - Uncle Jeff as always gave the Rockets good minutes. He’d be in the 8 deep on every WC team other than the Thunder. - While I like Jock, he’s very limited on defense. Tries hard, but any half assed center is going to eat him alive. He’s in exactly the right role for the Rockets. Really need to resign Adams. - I’d probably cut Nate Williams. The guy is a George Constanza level chucker. Just has no idea how to play team offense, and he did some really stupid shit on defense. - Roddy probably couldn’t make a team in Turkey. Whose nephew is he? Tari played 27 minutes and looked good. I think the Rockets played him so much so he could work on his offensive game. Jalen played because of some dumb ass game played streak? Harden had one those rare high efficiency games. Zubac dropped a triple double. Kawhi had a double double. We were never going to win, but we made it interesting. I think the Stay Ready Crew has some nice scorers, but they are quite limited on defense. The Clippers shouldn’t scare anybody, but they’re taking any series 6 games.
  19. Yeah. Picked up some sept calls into close on Friday. Dumped a portion today to take some money off the table. Riding the rest out. Put a gun to my head and I think we could see a couple more big upsides runs in that time frame (nothing this magnitude of course). Agree with this. I think directional plays are going to win only with a measure of luck involved due to the unpredictability. I think that a smarter position than the one I staked out at the end of last week is to straddle and sell off the wins on "both sides". If we can claw back to something like SPY 580-600 by the end of the summer I will probably take that up.
  20. This is why I was noting that the market losses were not going to be a win for Democrats. He was always going to manipulate the markets for his benefit. And the markets are the worst indicator for the actual economy. Everything he has done today has made the situation worse and we could be in for some serious pain the longer the Chinese tariffs are in place. Pain that will be felt by the average American long before the markets slide again.
  21. Is such a scenario possible? Sure. Am I predicting that? No. Just saying if that's the actual play I'm onboard. Yeah- I'm dumb. I basically predicted the strategy that made sense 5 minutes before it happened and told Horn4life to sell it all b/c I'm a big big dummy. Along with being in the top 2/10's of 1% of my industry b/c I can strategically see and put together deals better than other people. DUMB. Or, nailing the Sark hire and what he was doing after being 5-7. And writing at length about it. Or- saying the Astros were going to win the division in 23 and 24 when they were buried under a mountain of shit. My track record on this board from the beginning is wrong about everything. Go look at the 2025 draft thread where I say we are getting mid double digits from last April for another example of Wulaw missing the point!
  22. Hey brother. I know we already talked in the DMs, but for future reference, I also recommend the Akumal/Puerto Aventuras area to do the cenotes for a few days. What we often do is stay in Akumal first for a few days, then pack up and go to Isla for another few days. Great stuff. (eta: having finished reading the thread I see now that you have something similar in mind. cool) We don't even bother with PdC (our old fave) or Tulum any more. PdC is crazy now, and Tulum is nothing like the Tulum of even just 5 years ago. Akumal and the PA area still have a pretty chill vibe, at least for the time being. Agree it'll be hot, but I find it's typically quite a bit cooler on average than it is here in Austin, even in the summer months. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the mid 70s all summer. Of course the humidity sucks though, so on the heat misery index I'd put it slightly less than Austin, but the "I'm in Isla and not Austin, and can jump in the agua whenever I want" factor puts Isla over for the easy win.
  23. That was my take, and while I don’t love that negotiating strategy it’s effective (until it isn’t!) many many times. If that’s what happens he gets another win, the country wins and we can look to actively horsefucking China, which is owed a huge fucking beating for all the ways they lie, cheat, steal and oh by the way caused the entire covid worldwide pandemic those bunch of commie assholes. as to why I believed this might not be a ploy, Trump is a 1980’s style Democrat of the Dick Gephart stripe that’s loved Tarrifs (at least in theory) for his whole life, so I was a bit concerned the whole thing was going to be not a ploy but actual belief.
  24. We import so much shit from China, from consumer electronics, beauty products, clothes, furniture, etc. The reason why we import so much shit from China is because it is cheaper than where we can get it anywhere else. US Consumers are the largest benefactor, by far. Shit is going to get even more expensive. China is gambling that they can endure their hit to their economy longer than US consumers can endure a hit to their wallet. The next election will tell the story of who wins. If there is a wholesale change to Republican seats, China wins because the people voted to exit the tariff dick measuring contest. If there isn't a massive shit in seats, then Trump won and China has to acquiese. That's my take anyway.
  25. Liucci was born a redass aggie. He lives in College Station. He's never known anything but aggieness, from school to sports to living, it's all the same. Obviously this clearly qualifies him as an expert who can speak to the world about who they are and what they represent and blah blah blah. Yet somehow, this clown also speaks authoritatively about winning coaches, winning players, winning strategies, winning cultures, on and on. He's allowed to do so by the aggie faithful, but that's okay since they're all lemmings and need one of their own to tell them what they want to hear in an unexamined way. On the other hand, how is this guy allowed to speak to the rest of the public and to other media regarding anything on winning? He has no idea, no history, and no background to point him having been close to anything or anyone who knows a damned thing about winning. That infamous tweet was taken seriously by people and retweeted at the time. As if Liucci had any tools for knowing whether Fisher, Williams or Schlossnagle were actually going to be able to win anything at the time. Even now, he has the temerity to respond to the mockery by claiming that he was right at the time. That fucking rube is actually an expert on losing. When he starts predicting, we should start betting on the opposite.
