  1. Think this is the guy that started his career at aTm. Makes sense that he will go elsewhere.
  2. This idea is fine, but if you are not hitting on elite talent, you need numbers. That is the issue. Having 2 classes of 1 DT in the first 4 cycles is not ideal. Texas has hit their number once in 4 years (that class of 4 already has an 50% attrition rate). Texas overhauled the OL room by bringing in numbers and hitting on some elite recruits. Neither have happened at DT. This is one of the most important positions in football and it’s the least healthy position on the team. There is reason Texas went so hard in the portal. It’s going to be tough to be consistent at DT relying on the portal.
  3. If her hitting holds up against P5 pitching, I think she will challenge Goode for 2B Atwood/Stewie Stewie/Mitchell/KC Bennett/Goode Martinez Hunter/Scott/Mitchell Scott/Wallace/Henry/Maloney/KC KC can play the OF or DH or 1B. Wallace probably has the speed to play OF, but we didn’t see her offense much (2 hits in 4 AB, maybe just a PR) so that’s a bit of an unknown. The big question is how to fit Scott, Hunter and Mitchell all in the lineup
  4. How has this not been posted here already? Exclusive: Jim Schlossnagle explains his move from Texas A&M to Texas When Jim Schlossnagle left TCU after 18 seasons three years ago, he told me he expected to retire there. He was 50 then and had no desire to coach into old age. He wanted a new challenge, something on a grand scale, and few places in college baseball offered such a place as Texas A&M. But three years and two College World Series appearances later, including one win shy of the CWS National Championship on Monday night in Omaha, Schlossnagle, now 53, shocked the college baseball world and beyond when he left the Aggies for the rival University of Texas Longhorns. The move came a day after Schlossnagle had led A&M to within a run of the College World Series national championship. It was the greatest moment in the history of Aggies baseball, and 12 hours later, he left College Station for Austin. Schlossnagle knew the move would send shockwaves between the rivals, but he didn’t anticipate irate Aggies posting his cell phone number, Venmo account and home address on social media. During an interview with the Star-Telegram, Schlossnagle explained what transpired to set up the move, including his deep friendship with Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte, his mounting concerns about A&M athletics’s financial instability and his relationship with the Aggies’ new athletic director, Trev Alberts. Q: How has this past week been for you? Schlossnagle: Well, it’s been a whirlwind of work and emotion. Our staff is working 18-hour days trying to get to know the [Texas] players, the incoming class and diving into the transfer portal. Q: Have you been surprised by the reaction to the move? Been on social media much? Schlossnagle: I knew this would be a controversial move, leaving Texas A&M for Texas. But I didn’t anticipate the venom that my family, our staff, and their families have received … death threats, endless text messages, and other things. I do believe that most Aggies are really good people, and I have heard many positive things from many of them, but the vocal minority certainly has been aggressive, to say the least. Q: When you left TCU for A&M, you said you expected to retire there. Schlossnagle: I loved my time at TCU and truly wanted to try something new at a big SEC school. I met with [then A&M AD] Ross Bjork and his team, and we agreed on a vision to grow the program on a grand scale, including a ballpark, aggressive on the NIL front, and we went to work. Q: What changed at A&M? What led to this decision? Schlossnagle: I would say that with everything that was going on within the department financially, the agreement we made to begin construction on the ballpark in June of 2024 began to slow down, and that was disappointing since I had recruited a coaching staff and recruits thinking we would be in a new ballpark by 2025 or 2026. Then we had the football coaching change [with Jimbo Fisher’s firing and subsequent near $80 million buyout]. That eventually led to a new athletic director, which always makes any coach wonder what direction things are going. In late April, they laid off my sport administrator Chris Park, during the season when we were ranked No. 1 in the country. That created a vacuum of leadership for our program just on a daily basis. The sport administrator for a program plays a big role in our daily operation. Q: How was your relationship with [Texas A&M athletics director] Trev Alberts? Schlossnagle: Trev was very nice and supportive. I think he will do really good things at A&M. He came to visit with me a few days after being hired and said that baseball was important at Texas A&M, and he knew the stadium was a priority for me and the program and that he wanted to keep that moving forward. He told me that we’d have to build it without taking on any more debt. I understood that, but also knew that raising $85 million would be challenging given all the things that happened in the past year financially. I have no doubt that A&M is committed to baseball and will eventually do something great, though. Q: Was the Texas job on your radar? How far back was it something you were considering? Schlossnagle: Ever since Chris Del Conte left TCU, we’ve had to deal with it both at TCU and Texas A&M. Because of my close relationship with him, people always naturally thought that we would work together again. But I took the job at Texas A&M thinking it would be my last job, and I signed a contract with a massive buyout if I left for any other school in Texas. I signed that willingly with no intention of leaving. Q: So what changed? Schlossnagle: Trev came to me the day before the regional to have a conversation. He asked me if I was frustrated. I told him that I had some frustration with how slow the ballpark process was going and that it was tough to operate without a sport administrator, but I was committed to working through it. He then made a comment to me — kind of comparing his situation of leaving his alma mater, Nebraska. He said to me, ‘You know, Jim, if you ever don’t feel like this is the place for you, that’s OK, and it’s OK to move on.’ I was a little taken aback by that, and that was the moment that I began to think that maybe this wasn’t going to work out. No one ever contacted me or my agent about a new contract for our staff, so I just decided to focus on getting our team to Omaha and winning. Q: When was the deal finalized with Texas? Schlossnagle: Chris and I have always talked pretty regularly over the years as friends. We never talked seriously about me going to Texas until the very end. We landed back in College Station after Omaha, I met with the few players I could face to face to let them know this could happen and that, due to the NCAA rules, I wouldn’t be able to talk to them again. Chris met me at my house that day. We spoke for about two hours, and then I made the decision and went to Austin.
  5. Obviously letting go of World Series lock Will Smith was too much to overcome.
  6. Rumors that we were looking at buying Anthony Gordon from Newcastle but they wanted Quansah in return and we noped that shit. You cannot lose a guy with the potential of Quansah. Newcastle needs to move Gordon to get under the FPP rules.
  7. That kid would be a fucking legend here for that bunt had he been wearing burnt orange - of course we woulda won too.
  8. That’s the key with Trump. When you start at turnip it’s hard to see decline as you age. Poor Biden has a good baseline to go off of. With Trump you’re trying to see if the diaper is heavier today. Unfair. Such is life…
  9. The above is correct. We have the players. I don’t think this is a FF roster, but as everyone knows, the tournament is about matchups. I’m concerned about our offensive system.
  10. Sarkisian wouldn’t let Texas recruit Byron Murphy out of high school if he were a recruit in this cycle. That’s just a fact based on the guys he’s nixed pushing for over the least 3 cycles. He’s a metrics whore specifically on defense. 1) you don’t seem to understand how the classes have been built versus rankings. 2) they’ve finished top 5-6 every year under Sarkisian and the gap is usually the 3+ bodies that others took that Texas did not. 3) Texas NIL is way out in front of most programs. That’s simply not true when someone is willing to move to Eugene and Oregon wants them. that is going to be true for everyone. 4) as has always been stated, if someone besides Oregon shows up and goes bezerk for a particular player, there’s not much anyone dealing with this and understanding the longer term approach is going to do about it if there is a viable set of alternative candidates. that’s usually true. QB position might not square with this always.
  11. flipping the mexico pendulum back in our favor, several of those wins "felt" epic and transformational then qatar & i was told that the cba is for coaches as well - i hope my source is wrong
  12. I will give you a big headwind that will hurt Biden right before the election, Medicare and to be specific Medicare Advantage. Millions of seniors are on those plans all over the country and pretty much all of those companies that offer these plans (United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana, etc....) are going to make benefits much worse and pull out of areas because the federal government cut their payments. I guarantee you will have the right wing (rightly or wrongly) come October telling seniors "Look at what the Democrats are doing to your Medicare? They are cutting your benefits and if we get elected, we will give you all those back plus a lot more stuff so vote for us." Seniors that are democrats want democracy, but they also want their dental plans, free meals, rides to the doctor and all those other benefits more. Just wait and watch.
  13. Lap 5 - what a GORGEOUS shot of the McLarens chasing Max after the exchange w/ Lando and Piastri challenging his teammate! We [rightly] bitch about the production plenty, but the helicopter was in perfect position!
  14. A reminder that you can go back to the beginning of the Tour coverage on the Peacock app. I'll typically let the Tour go for a while so I have something to watch during my workday. I love the opening in Florence. One of my favorite cities to visit in Italy. Back to lurking but I'll try to gleam more knowledge from you boys as it goes along.
  15. Man, y’all are freaking the fuck out. I suggest we get a DT who is a Xanax dealer, and we’ll be fine.
  16. It’s not going to happen. He’s cut from the same cloth as RBG. This time we have to do more to avoid the catastrophe.
  17. According to to The Great Commission Jesus came to them and said: “Go therefore and annoy thy neighbors”
  18. I hope we portaled in a real offensive system or the roster won’t matter much. Spread them out to go one on one or kick it out doesn’t work over the course of a full game.
  19. Flying tonight. I have not had a lot of time to dedicate to posting on my site in a long time (or even talking about my last two weekends in Paris). Last post on the site was in December. I do have two I have been working on, but work has been nuts and there is just too much to do! Anyways, leaving tonight for London (Again) and Oxford. Thanks @RamjetFDO for the suggestions. My friend booked somewhere for dinner on Saturday night (Arbequina) which came highly recommended. The race is on Sunday at 3 PM, so we will head out that way after breakfast. The after race act is Rudimental, which I have never heard of. Monday will be our exploring day as on Tuesday, we have a 9 AM train back to London so we can catch the Heathrow Express and get back to the states.
  20. Depends on where you want to be. Can't go wrong with Boulder or Golden. I would pick Boulder, personally, but it's a little farther from Coors Field. So we're there for 2 full days, 2 travel days. We arrive on Thursday late afternoon and leave late afternoon on Sunday. Friday will be heading to RMNP. Saturday is exploring downtown and the baseball at night. Sunday we figure we'd look around Boulder before heading to the airport. I'll take a look at Boulder and Golden. We obviously want to hit RMNP as soon as our reservation allows. I'm aiming to get a 9am entry. It opens up for our day on Monday morning.
  21. In his last couple years before he passed, you could tell when my dad had a virus or infection - he would go from a pretty smart and clever dude to someone that would forget what he were saying as he was saying it. And he was a couple decades younger than Biden, so I can imagine the strain he was under. Unfortunate timing, but its a risk we are exposed to when an 82yo is running. It's a damn shame that money is what gets representation rather than citizens in America, but we're just gonna keep getting bidens and other olds for as long as dollars matter more than people
  22. The lack of perspective on here, especially as it relates to DT is fucking hilarious. Of all the positions around- jag types at DT are just fine. Would it be awesome to have a fucking all pro at every position? Sure. But if you are going to JAG go JAG at this route where literally any huge fat body can anchor down and gum things up enough to sort of quasi throw their shit in the muck. It’s not like we are planning on not fielding a DT Order of preference to spend money on should be just about like the NFL draft and should roughly go: QB, DE, OT, WR, CB, DT, S, LB, RB, TE we have the best QB room maybe in our programs history. DE was a huge problem and now it’s not. Currently in really good shape at OT WR is fucking stacked. If you want to argue that we are allocating too much to RB and should repurpose that to DT I’d probably agree. If you want to say what we are doing at WR for high school kids is overkill with how stacked our room is and how good at portal we’ve done and abundant quality in portal while that’s more rare at DT sure. But you are nitpicking. If the offense goes out and scores 50 a game and we have studs coming off the edge while the other team is in passing situation we will be absolutely fine. College football is like MLB in that there is no salary cap and vastly different level of resources between different teams- and yet- I’m still waiting for the MLB team whose fans don’t pick apart one area of the team as substandard and notch and moan about it.
  23. At this time, I'd rate GWB dead last. Any credit he gets for handling the immediate aftermath of 9/11 is undone by the fact that we subsequently killed 600,000 civilians in the wrong freaking country so that his VP's company could rebuild it on an illegal no-bid government contract. He was also President during the two worst stock market drops since the Great Depression. And I had to preface that with "At this time," because if re-elected, Trump is gonna do some shit that makes us miss GWB, who was only stupid and weak, not pure evil.
  24. We are finishing up our time in Winter Park. It’s been a good trip and I’ll post more about it when we get back. I did want to mention one thing. Never in my life have I run into more unhappy service workers who do a terrible job. I am always nice and polite with workers. But, virtually everyone we’ve dealt with at any place has been unfriendly. And the number of issues we’ve run into has been unbelievable. The hotel has been a disaster. I’ll post on that later because it’s just plain bizarre. As we thought about what’s happening, one thing we’ve noticed is that a lot of these workers seem stoned. Maybe that’s it. Maybe it’s just typical vacation destination fatigue? After all many vacationers are shitheads these days. Maybe workers are just sick of vacationers. But if that’s the case wouldn’t be bad everywhere? This seems to be Winter Park specific. Weird.
