it was honestly lamer than that. It was one of those gas station nozzles that dribble out gas like an old man pissing, so I doubt I got more than a cup on him. It was interesting because it took a full couple second to even realize two masked kids were running at me. And once we started tussling all I could think of was, don’t let them get me in the car and drive away. Because my driver side door was still open and I was between it and them. And the threat was actually pretty lame, because one kid had my left arm, trying to get my watch and my right hand held the fuel pump nozzle so there’s no way I could grab a lighter. I obviously wasn’t thinking that all through in the moment. When I studied Kempo karate forever ago, our instructor always told us to do anything to avoid an actual physical fight and it is never a bad idea when facing superior odds to try to act as crazy as hell. so when I saw gas hit his hoodie and mask the only thing I can think of was act crazy like I would set us on fire. The bottom line is I was careless and got lucky

I hope these fucks are haunted by these dead girls for the rest of their lives (hopefully short). I don’t have kids. I’ve only been to Kerr county a handful of times, but I sure wouldn’t have minded my tax dollars going to prevent a tragedy like this. I guess that’s the difference between being a stupid Libtard and a maga shithead.

You’re an idiot. Are you some banned troll re-registered under a new name? Or are you a new moron we haven’t met before?

i saw a clip from this morning where he said "we need to stand down on partisan attacks while recovering and grieving" etc. again, the regime is now 31 years in to complete and total power in this state it is impossible to question leadership in texas WITHOUT it being labeled "partisan" by the regime because they are 100% of the leadership
-
I cannot imagine how awful/guilty they'd feel if they got sent to Kerrville and then their friends/family/neighbors in Austin needed them within Austin and TC instead. I think they're looking at it under the lens of "we didn't end up being needed here," but that is no reason to blast your leadership and call for their firing, because if they had been needed in Austin, and has been elsewhere, it would have been a lot worse, optically. Probably destroying the trust the local community has with them.

uh oh this is the same kerr county stuff from yesterday but dramatically expanded in addition to refusing free sirens paid for with obama money, they turned down free biden money in 21 https://www.reddit.com/r/TexasPolitics/comments/1ltnjf8/we_have_floods_all_the_time_and_small_town/ welp, just in case the regime hacks reddit i'm going to go ahead and copypasta the content

James Gunn: Some people will take offence at my new Superman ““There are three things I don’t ever need to see again in a superhero movie, I don’t need to see pearls in a back alley when Batman’s parents are killed. I don’t need to see the radioactive spider biting Spider-Man. And I don’t need to see baby Kal coming from Krypton in a little baby rocket. We have watched a million movies with characters who don’t have their upbringing explained, like when we see Good Night, and Good Luck—we don’t need to know the early life of Edward R. Murrow to explain how he became a journalist. Who cares?” We had to see a lot of origin stuff with the Marvel movies because a lot of normal people weren't too familiar with the non-X-Men/Spidey/F4 heroes, and in those cases, they were setting up long-term arcs. I think Gunn did it right in Guardians with giving us bits and pieces of backstories. Peter and the shit that happened with his mom, the scars on Rocket, etc.

I think you missed my point. I was trying to communicate the general mindset of summer camp parents. We didn't deeply investigate the various facilities 'cause we assumed that they were safe. "They're expensive and all my friend's kids have been going for years, so they must be fine, yes?" In retrospect, that maybe wasn't the best mindset. But it's also not uncommon to assume that a camp facility would evacuate kids in a bad rain situation, or at least, investigate and keep an eye on all warning signs. And this one, apparently, was built on a flood plain. As I mentioned, a camp in Marble Falls, maybe Camp Champions, did evacuate last summer as a storm approached. Looks like the camp management at Mystic really dropped the ball.

Srsly. Stupid shit like this "weather weaponization" idiocy is something we used to only hear from our 11-toed methmouth cousin who lived in the trailer out back. But now, thanks to the internet, these morons get to infect the rest of humanity with their stupidity.

If you gotta wash gasoline smell out of your hair for 2 days and all you got is a basic, not expensive watch, that’s a bad deal. Glad you weren’t hurt. Oakland can be pretty scary. I live nearby and go there frequently out of necessity but gotta keep your head on a swivel for sure.

1234. It's why no matter how tough they are, some dude can walk in on you banging his wife, and you stand up, fully nude, and scream at him "I may have made love to your wife but I'm gonna fuck you so hard your grandchildren are going to feel it and your wife is going to film the whole thing" and I guarantee you that they are going to get the fuck out there. Whether it's you being fully nude, or your raging erection, or the intensity in your voice or your eyes, you have to convince them that you are in fact going to fuck them, and they will flee, saving one of you a trip to the hospital. Edit: it would probably work at a gas station hold-up, assuming you could get your clothes off and get erect fast enough. Dudes who cosplay that they are tough generally can't handle another nekkid man.

Glad this wasn't an uglier event, as it easily could have been. The only people who care about the difference beteween a Citizen and an Omega are douchebags, so at least those kids have that going for them.

“All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.” - Pastor John Hagee https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2008/03/hagee-on-katrina/45516/

this is good actually. I mean they are going to lie about everything, but the only way we have any hope for change is to have blame at the feet of those truly responsible and here's a hint, it wasn't the weather nerds, they did their jobs.

Every time you cite any fact, I'm going to accuse you of getting it from a gossip rag. As if a thirty second google search doesn't exist in all of our pockets. The real, real error in judgement and justifiable criticism of any of my habits, and how I knew BDH was now a big lady, was I that one day while hungover and my kid was at a friends, I made the fucking massive mistake of watching Aygyle. Holy shit. 80% of the movie is shot with close ups of her face. It's jarring. If you're curious, but don't want to watch the very much dogshit movie, you can skim this article about it from a gossip rag: https://time.com/6622198/bryce-dallas-howard-argylle-body-interview/

I’ve been looking back at the Astros deadline deals and we gave up the controllable years for Teoscar, Hader, Wilyer and Siri for guys that didn’t really make a difference in the ultimate outcome. In some cases, they were actually detrimental (C. Gomez and the fucking rat). The Astros obviously won some deadline deals as well and incredibly didn’t give up anything of value for the first Verlander, Yordan, Grienke and Pressly trades. As they approach the trade deadline this year, I hope they don’t look at any of these deals for a JAG. If the guys a real difference maker, then go for it, but otherwise I would rather they keep what’s in the system. Also, I doubt we have enough value in our system to get any player who would play assuming some of the Astros on the IL come back.

Going to be hard to get around governmental immunity in order to hold the county liable.

I would hope every camp in the country has disaster planning front and center on their brochures going forward but fuck it, letting Jesus take the wheel is much cheaper.

If that's what they want, go to the next driver's meeting and tell them the next driver to do it gets a 10 second penalty. Don't care for the way they handled it.
-
parents were not to blame for sending their kids. I mean in hindsight maybe they should ask about emergency preparedness but to be honest, what do you think the camp would say? yay nah bro, we aren't prepared for rain in july, who the fuck thinks that's a real risk. bitch, we got you covered for heat injury but floods, no way, not a concern no need to plan. simple diligence questions which is about all you'd expect a parent to ask will always be met with the what you want to hear answer. this is where legit and proper licensing should come into play.

Colorado Vacation Destinations - Not Quite So Crowded, But Still Cool
Wiler77 replied to Dbeasy's topic in Food and Travel
We come to CB for 3-4 weeks every summer. We're currently on our last week of a 3 week trip. Late July-early August will mean just about any hiking trail in the area will be accessible because the snow will have all melted. We've done a couple high elevation hikes that were a little muddy, but not too bad. The rivers are running pretty low, which means in 3-4 weeks will be even lower. But there is still good fishing to be had. If you are a hiker, I could fill your week with nothing but hiking suggestions. If anyone in your family likes to mountain bike, I can tell you all the good trails. The mountain itself has incredible downhill trails. There are bike jumps in town and a skate park where bikes are welcome. My boys and I can kill an entire afternoon at those 2 spots. If you like to disc golf, there's a course on the mountain. Will you be in an SUV with 4WD or AWD? That will change some of my suggestions as far as hiking is concerned. If you have a SUP, that opens up more possibilities as well. Lots of places around here to sit with a cold beer and enjoy an unbelievable view.
