I apologize for the video. I couldn't find a full game copy anywhere so had to rip a few plays. @Dahobbswas explaining a little bit of this to a fellow poster. ZSo thanks to him for getting the ball rolling. Let's get this out of the way right now. For those of you that didn't think Dabo was a good coach we just all fucked around and found out on Sat-ur-dee. Ole ball coach played us like a fiddle. They had a lovely opening script capped off with a double pick that we actually helped with but we will get to that in a minute. They got on the board first and then Sark and PK proceeded to drag their balls on Clemson's facemask by going on a 31-3 run. The offense did it's thing but PK's defense settled in and stymied the Clemson offense. However Dabo, as championship coaches do, found something. He sped up their offense when he got the right defensive personnel on the other side. Two things that did. We lost our pass rush because the guys caught in the game aren't the type that gets pressure. Second, when a defense is sped up they scrap the exotics and stick to simplistic defensive schemes like man v man or basic zone schemes. So by doing that they could slow our pass rush and manipulate our secondary. To do that your coaches have to be pretty savvy and have a QB with full command of the passing offense. So we shouldn't see that too often so we can all relax. If we do then PK is a dumb ass for falling for the same trick twice. So let's get into it shall we? I mean what the hell were the refs looking at here. First thing first I am wondering if this was a mistake by our secondary here to start. I know we are in man but instead of letting the routes tell us which man we are taking Barron and Guilbeau cross streams and allow the TE/Barron route to pick Guilbeau. The TE is literally blocking Barron well past the five yard mark for a pass that is being thrown past the line of scrimmage. Guilbeau is already out of position only to be physically blocked a second time, again for a pass thrown past the line. To miss an illegal pick once is bad but two times on the same play? Come on refs. 1.mp4

So we have a whole week to fill in before we put a foot in Brutus' ass. So why not fill our down time arguing about what went wrong in the 3rd quarter. We will eventually address other parts of the game, but right now let's look at the 3rd quarter on offense. Sark comes out in 12 personnel. ASU basically has 8 men in the box and has a double linebacker blitz on. The worst thing we could do is run a slow developing, back to the field play action pass where our QB has to quickly diagnose where his hot man is while guys come untouched through the A-gap. So what does Sark call? A very slow developing back to the field play action pass. First thing you notice is Gunner Helm flashes open in the middle. Now I know that SOME of you guys are going to say I am making an excuse for Quinn when I say this but Helm has to sit his route down. By continuing across the formation your QB is going to have to look to see who is in front of you which takes more time. If you sit down in the open zone he can comfortably let the ball go. Regardless, this is an example of bad Sark. Too many times you put your guy in bad positions and literally kill a drive on the first play with calls like this. This same play without the play action and Quinn probably sees Helm quicker and gets the ball out. On to second down. Texas vs Arizona State Football Jan 1 2025 Full Game Replay CFP-.mp4

Figured it was time to take a look at why we are struggling running vs Georgia. There are many reasons. Sometimes we just aren't physical enough and don't block through the whistle. We turn guys loose too early allowing them to get back in the play. Sometimes the bunch sets don't help as they bring too many defenders close to the ball that wouldn't otherwise be there. However, most of the time it's just simply players losing 1v1 battles or just missing their assignment not Georgia stacking the box to take away the run like SOME posters like to believe. Below we are running our signature OZ. GEORGIA IS IN NICKEL DESPITE US HAVING TWO TIGHT ENDS ON THE FIELD(12 personnel). This is where Sarkisian's stubbornness is bare ass naked for all to see. We should spread Georgia out an run on them like other teams do. But no we make the distance shorter for them to get to the LOZ. Some of you have heard me say you cannot beat Georgia by playing in a phone booth. This play is an example of that. At the snap Juan Davis(81) come across the formation to cut off backside pursuit freeing Helm up to climb to the backside LB. The line is dancing to left. Majors climbs to the second level to find work. That would make for a nice hole but Conner gets whipped immediately and Wisner has to move on. The edge would've looked pretty good but Golden runs right past the nickel. Wisner sees it, cuts it up, and just tries to get what he can. SEC Championship Game Texas vs Georgia - YouTube.mp4
