Yeah, I fucked that up.

That thing is just God awful. Ech! The horror!

Tell you what, I'll give you a couple hunnerd for it, you don't have to live with the crushing regret, your wife gets a nice I told you so, and I'll throw it in the back of my closet and you can get back to buying guitars that don't looks so just terrible. Of course, it is a custom, so I'll have to drop my offer but $50 but I'll pay for shipping. Deal?

(PS - welcome to this thread. I hate you a little. But welcome anyway. And more pics please!)

That Stevie guy did ok with rosewood. Or pau ferrro or whatever it was.

But yea scooter nice contributions. What did they whack you for on that custom shop btw?

Yeah, but I might.

Brother, I’m old enough to realize the significance of your user name. But only just... and we could all die tomorrow. That’s why we should buy new guitars today, amiright?

Thanks for sharing. You’re selling that rosewood short. Gorgeous, as they all are.

I’ll make this the last for the day. This was my first time dipping my toe into the custom guitar purchase.

There was a cat on the old site (sorry man I don’t remember your handle or I give you a shout out) who had a connection to a specific guy at Corona. Which got me around the front desk so to speak. He pretty much coached me through the process of how you actually order a custom shop guitar. Unfortunately about six weeks after I send in the deposit I run across a poster of Jimi at Isle of Wight. And instantly regreted asking for the rosewood, and Olympic rather then Maple and Artic white. It plays great, sounds great, but it has never tickled me the way I had hoped. And much to my wife’s dissatisfaction was probably the biggest reason I would go down the 57-60 Burst rabbit hole with Tom Wittrock.

This.  I'm partial to the rosewood Strats.  One day I'll post a pic as to why.

This is their photo, hope that is not an issue. But they shoot em pretty well. Anyway, this fucker came home with me. Enabling bitch at Sweetwater knows I’m an addict.

I wanted one as close to match bookended as they had (we went through a few) to find this one. In direct sunlight the tiger stripes run the full length, and are an incredible 3D.

I also didn’t want it weight releaved, so it is a husky 10 lbs, 6 oz’s.

I forgot her name....Ester..

I always say this, so I have to say it again:  This is probably my favorite LP I've ever seen posted here.

It’s strange, but it only seems to bother me with the white Strats. .Maybe there is some subliminal buyers remorse going on?

That is boner builder beautiful. I may have missed it, if you have already shared. But could you tell us about it? Standard, Traditional, year? It is gorgeous.

Bought it from South Austin Music a few years back. 1986, “pre historic” when Gibson was fooling around with making the historic line. Article about them here

https://www.lespaulforum.com/slubarticle/8393reissues/83to9359reissues.html

It should have Tim Shaw pickups(+), but also a short neck tenon(-). Either way, it plays and sounds very nice and is the exact Les Paul I’ve always jonesed for.

Oh, the Les Paul I could have bought with the money I spent on this dog. It would end up being around longer, too. You guys are killing me with the pics.

Another of my lowly Epi honeyburst. Love the color. Found a thread on another forum about taking the gloss down. Probably my next project. Plays like a dream.

And if anyone is interested, Jason Isbell ended up with Ed Kings “Redeye” Burst. He put out the announcement on Twitter that he purchased it from Carter’s from what I understand? I don’t Twitter so I haven’t seen the announcement myself.

I'll assume no one minds one more quoting of this pic for me to say: sweet Jesus.

Can I be one of your grandkids? Spend all the money you want.

that might be second to whenever Chief posted the... can't remember if it was a Martin or a Gibson Brazilian Rosewood acoustic with the flower inlays that he bought off of Jerry Jeff Walker in the parking lot of Ray Hennig's.

I saw some ad on TV the other day, I think for credit reporting or some shit.  The ad was going through different ways this fictional couple could raise their credit score and one was “Stop making stupid purchases.”  Sounds like good advice, except for this: the visual that accompanied that advice was the husband holding a gorgeous cherry burst Gibson LP.

Stupid purchase?  Uh... try GENIUS purchase.  Fuck you, whatever company that ad was for.

His stupid purchase was the wife, not the Gibson.

I have a BiL who spends money on frivolous things (i.e., porn).

In a heated discussion where Mrs. Fuck was discussing her sister's frustration with BiL's, ahem, spending habits, she said, "I don't mind you buying your guitars.  At least they appreciate."

Could've knocked me over with a feather.  I wish I'd recorded it to play back at appropriate times.  But I'll always have, "At least I'm not BiL who pays to whack it."
