Who here owns an American Special Tele? Skinny on the pups/circuitry, jumbos, radius...etc pls...

I do, but man I hardly play and my opinion wouldn’t do you well I don’t think. I just have a lot of damn hobbies. I still like following this thread, I just don’t have much to contribute.

The neck is fantastic, though. It’s a 9.5” radius I think, which is the same as the Pros, it just has the less fancy truss rod or something. I personally like the Texas Special pups, and the greasebucket circuitry works well enough and isn’t intrusive or anything. Sorry it ain’t much info, but it’s a fine instrument. No contour, regular brass saddles (not compensated). It’s old school and it rocks.

I think I have a photo somewhere.

Found it.

I could envision a world where there's a cabinet with a few amps next to a chest of drawers full of guitars, maybe another with various accoutrements... a music stand a good stool

Here’s a video I saw a while back of Vince Gill and some other people at his place. Watch the first minute or so and you’ll see him pull out an acoustic from a drawer built into some book/music shelves. Pretty cool.

Ok I am currently watching a Brian Setzer Rockabilly Riot concert on axstv. Let me unequivocally state for about the billionth time that he is a straight up monster player. Damn I’d love to be able to play like that.

Agreed, and he's a super laid back, nice guy.  Watch his interview with Dan Rather.

I met him once in line at Antone's and he chatted for probably 5 minutes as if he were talking to an old friend.  Dude didn't know me from Adam.

I think there’s a strong reason why guys like this have long careers apart from playing ability. Being generally agreeable and nice makes more fans.

I haven't posted on this thread in forever but I just can't help sharing my NGD. Martin 000-15M. Been wanting one of these for some time. She plays like butter, and complements my Taylor dread quite well.6f8bd8e481315ce7648b63b54f347e0c.jpg

Hell yeah. Great guitar. My silk and steels are getting pretty decrepit, I might put some regular strings back on mine for a bit. It’s my most played acoustic.

Post 1 in the thread. Same strings even... gross

Mine will be 4 years exactly on the 20th of this month. Its 95% back to normal. I still have trouble reaching the 7th with my pinky in the lower frets. I've adapted by just letting the bass pick up the root. Plus I got a gnarly ass scar to look at on my wrist.

Ugh. At least mine was my picking hand. Although being righthanded, everything else kinda sucks.

Friend of mine owns this rig. The strat might just be the most playable guitar I've ever touched. He knows his shit on wrenching, playing , and has an enviable collection of 3 nice electric Collings, a Gretsch, and a Collings and gibson acoustic.

Brick, hardwood, leather, guitars hanging on the wall.  What's not to like?

That’s some old-man guitar shit right there.  This is ROCK N ROLL for Christ’s sake.  What that room needs is a bunch of cigarette butts, a couple bottles of Jack laying around, and a syringe and surgical tubing.

Impulse purchases are fun.  Went to the local guitar shop for lighter stings for my acoustic today.  I purchased way over my skill level. They had a Aspen green Gretsch 5420t hanging on the wall.  I wanted it.  It had a huge scratch on the back. Tomorrow I pick up my new Aspen green Gretsch, a non display model without the scratch.  Is this going to be Porn worthy?

That's cool.  But whenever I see pics like that with musical instruments, I'm the opposite of Indiana Jones - it shouldn't be in a museum!  If it's functional, someone should be playing it on a stage.
