Hey Celery,

This is from the Australia Fender site, but I suspect the US site will be the same sometime today when it drops. It gets pricey depending on the package, but Fender is offering several Hello Kitty packages including gig bags, straps, pedals etc that you can buy individually or as a package as a Fender website exclusive.

I hope that’s Australia dollars or something, was expecting more in the $600 range

Yeah, it seems like those are highly recommended as good all around tele pickups. The Isbell tele ruined that deluxe tele with the noiseless pickups by comparison, but these are nice. Very alive.

They're super chimey, which is great for a lot of things.  Plus, when you want it a bit darker, the tone knob can give you that.  Makes for a good all-rounder.

I may have listed this somewhere in the past but if you haven’t seen please watch it. Got to be one of the tightest bands ever.

I put it here because of the virtuoso performance by a guy named Brandon Miller. And the lead singer is unreal.

I wanted to learn this guitar part then after hearing it I decided it would be better to just quit altogether…

On the "Fuck Me News" ...     I took my 2001 Taylor to my luthier to get a loose jack fixed.  He is looking it over....  Yep, let's do a setup while it is here....frets redressed?   Sure....first 4 showing signs of wear.  Then he looks at the bridge, pulls out a gauge......   I can't believe I haven't noticed the bridge pulling away from the body.     My acoustics stay out on the hangers but they are in the basement at a fairly constant 50% humidity.

So, my $50 job turned into a $500 plus bill.   But I bought that guitar new over 23 years ago and never done anything to it.   But the acoustics are going to stay in their cases from now on.  New humidifiers packs ordered....hello Sweetwater Candy Shipment!

I need some advice on pickups/switches.

I have a 2012 American Standard Telecaster that is my first guitar and I love it.  I wanted to change things up a bit so I'm having Texas Special pickups installed.

My question is, should I add a 4-way switch?  I've seen it discussed on the boards but I'm too thick to figure out the advantage.  I don't want too much "new" shit that I don't understand put on there just because I read it in a review.

Feel free to talk me in/out of the Texas Specials as well.  It's hard to tell much from youtubes, but I compared them to the Isbell pickups and preferred TS.  For context, I mostly fiddle around with 8 bar blues stuff and some rock/rockabilly/country.

The next purchase is likely a tweed Blues Jr, but that will have to wait until after Christmas.....unless there are some black Friday shenanigans.

My $.02

1. Try the Texas specials. If you don’t like them, go back to the originals. Or try something else. Rinse repeat. Changing pickups is no big deal.

2. I’d stick with the three position switch on your Tele as God intended.

3. Consider adding 4 more bars to your blues though.

I kinda like the 4 way switch on my deluxe tele, it’s just another sound to have the pickups In parallel. But I don’t know if I’d go out of my way to have it. This would definitely be a “go play one, see if you need that 4th sound”. I certainly don’t miss it in my Isbell. The knob switch is pretty unobtrusive, I’m not sure if that’s how they are always or usually done.

i am certainly not going to talk you out of a blues jr but just to make sure you know - it is not a quiet amp. Master volume works, so go sick, but also I’ve had it on stage with a loud band lots of times without having to come close to diming it.
