OK, regarding my buddy's Martin 0-15.  What luthier would be best to evaluate and possibly work on this thing?  Austin is NOT a restriction.  Gruhn in Nashville?  Other?  I don't think he considers this an investment, he plays and it has a lot of sentimental value, so he'll want it to be the best it can be.

Call Gruhn's.   That one dude who found a prewar ended up contacting them .   I think his name was Retsevlys from around Auburn, AL.  I actually called George Gruhn and talked to him.  We then sent a bunch of pictures of the guitar and George called him back.  The wait was a LONG time to get it in to Gruhn's shop,  but one of his luthiers ended up taking the guitar and working on it in his spare time.  The poster paid the guy directly.  Only issue is it doesn't get the Gruhn name/warranty with it, but it was the same guy who would have worked on it anyway.

I don't know George but I know someone who knows him very well.  I would trust anything he says.

I wanted him to appraise my Charlie Christian, but he wouldn't do it remotely without a photo of the serial number, which has disappeared if it ever existed.

Anything is a pick if you’re brave enough

I like it because it's 0.5mm thick, easily grabbed, and the texture on it kinda scrapes the strings in a very pleasant way when the gain is up

That clip shows what an articulate player he was. So much more than just a mindless shredder. Favorite comment: “How can someone be that groovy and that savage at the same time?”

Cool story time: my family is good friends with uncle Kracker and I got invited to his 50th bday in Nashville and Billy was there and I could have met him but I didn’t go. Thanks for listening CSB

So for the record, I grew up with a 68 Tele in the house, so it’s top hat switch cap and flat top knobs for me. They just seem right.

But I’m still Sean Connery over Roger Moore even though I saw Roger Moore first.

I realize the barrel is weird on the picture I posted.

the Isbell tele came with a top hat on it. I needed to order a new one for the 72 thinline because the original has been lost to time, I decided to go top hat. It came with two, so, now I’m just rocking all top hat.

Depends on the year.  Latter on my 52 AV, former on my 64 AV and early '90 N_9.

Rubber band under the knobs on some of them because Fender.
