For someone who has no idea what they're getting into, the Katana 50 is perfect. Cheap, lots of built in effects and models, even more if you plug it into a computer, and you can get a feel for those effects and amps before you go down the rabbit hole of buying gear.

So, for a long time acoustic finger picker, who wants to noodle around on this thing, what would be the best option for a small practice amp, and maybe some basic effects pedals?  I have no idea what I'm getting into.

Anybody remember this pair? I've never posted them on the new site. I keep them at my Mom's place and let all the family play them as they wish. A friend asked to borrow the Tele for a gig tonight, Im looking forward to listening to it.

Where is that?

Lakeside Tavern. Bosqueville, Texas. Just outside Waco.

I moved here when i was a kid. My Mom still lives here. There used to be a bait store a few acers over. Then they started selling beer. By the 90's when i moved away they had some tables so you drink beer there. Then they built a bar. Eventually it morphed into a full on honky tonk - they dont even sell minnows behind the bar anymore. I tell everybody that if it had been this way in the 90's I night have never left.

I just sat in for a couple songs last night and we played some blues. Otherwise it was mostly country and that Tele sounded great for it in my frends hands.

any of y'all looking for a last minute Christmas present for me - any of the Gretsches on that link that have a bird's name (penguin, falcon), or if you're a bit tighter in the wallet this season, I'll take the mint green 6118.  PM for shipping info

Yea I’ve played a couple jets recently. I like them but I have the solid body thing covered.

I want a big fat hollow body. And I liked the $1299 price on that setzer.

Jets are basically semi hollow. Chambered, but “inside removed” chambered rather than “holes drilled in the body” chambered a la Gibson.

FUCK levy’s thickass straps that you cannot possibly get over a medium sized strap button

Nothing music related for Christmas, but I did find my 1962 reissue Sorrento with mini humbuckers through the Supro Thunderbolt on the 35 watt setting may be the best clean tone I can get out of any of my gear. So, Merry Christmas to me.

I can’t get the strap over the button, and it’s thicker than the space between the button and the body, so the grolsch trick won’t be helpful. I remember why I don’t like Levy’s straps.

Here's phd jr's rig I bought for Xmas... really sweet intro git and that Squier Frontman amp down there is an awesome little porta, puts out a lot of volume and it's a blast to play with the gain/vol to get the overdrive.  Fun little combo.  The boy has been on it almost 24/7 since yesterday.  Diggin' him diggin' it.

(yeah those are socks... lol the boy doesn't want to scratch it up so he has socks covering the metal/rubber).

I got my nephew the same set up thanks to this thread.  He went crazy over it!  It was so much fun to watch him to unwrap it.  He opened the amp first and said, "I don't know what this is but it looks cool!"  Then, when he opened the guitar he lit up.  I did not expect that level of excitement as his mom only casually mentioned that he was interested.

Would it have killed them to match the grain? (Probably)

This was my thought.  Perhaps they didn't have matching and this was a good use of what was left over around the shop.

That Tele/Jazzmaster/Supro-style pickgaurd though.  Tasty.
