Oh badass, it has split shaft tuners based on this picture from Reddit. Not my favorite functionally (aesthetically cool, functionally it seems like just slightly more of a pain in the ass) but for a guitar I will hand to my child, no pointy string ends = perfect. This is why she mostly plays around with my 72 thinline if she wants to touch daddy’s guitars

Great to hear from you! I’m not sure on the quantities at this point, but I do know we’ll be getting some of those. I believe they’re going to go live next week so keep an eye out.

I've got some deep thoughts about the whole... what's it called, gear-buying thing.

Gotta put em together properly, but the short version is that the novelty of a new instrument is something we use to keep ourselves interested in the absence of the actual improvement in technique real work would get us.

This obviously doesn't apply to everyone.

Now you can see a producer has a ton of guitars; he's got to know which guitar to grab to get the sound he wants. Same with his wall of amps.

A big time live performer might want multiple guitars that his tech pre-set/tuned for each song, so he doesn't have to play the tuning song in the middle of a set.

But for the rest of us, we don't really need One More Guitar, unless we wrecked the last one. What we need is a guitar lesson

and unfortunately

in my case

a visit to the orthopedic surgeon 😭

Man have y’all seen this new Reverend Billy Corgan Drop Z Signature in High Tide Blue.

I really like it, has higher output pickups in it for a heavier sound like early Pumpkins and they look cool as hell too. $1499

I've owned 3 reverends, still own 2, and they are great guitars.  Probably my favorite brand at the $1000 new price point.

You haven’t heard of Reverend? They’ve been around for several decades making pretty interesting guitars. Maybe like Ernie Ball Music Man with 15% more Gretsch.  I think they’re all Asian made now but they used to manufacture in the US.  The aforementioned Koch Reverend, also in black and gold sparkle

These are the two Reverends I still have.  A short scale Dub King bass and a Charger 290 that is hot hot hot.  Great instruments for the money or otherwise.  Their guitars tend to have a “bass contour knob” that is a bass cut to go with the treble knob and makes them pretty versatile.  I can make the P90s sound like a Tele with it.

I haven't bought a decent guitar in 20 years.  I'm blissfully unaware of anything.

Speaking of guitar, David Gilmour ripped a nice skronky ES-335 solo on Fallon last night.  (I think it's an 335.)

Wow, humbuckers.

just got a text from the guitar guy that my guitars are ready. Hopefully got the little dead e string issue fixed on the Isbell tele, put pure vintage '64 pups in the blonde tele, basically restored my old dirnt p-bass as well as my first guitar, the '96 Martin DM with a crack in the top and a little bit of loose binding. Going to pick them up tomorrow - I'm looking forward to hearing the new tele pickups in parallel.

What are you even doing here man?

In my defense, I did buy one of those cheapass Squier strats a few months back.  I want to load it up with single coil sized humbuckers.  Ace Frehley won't have anything on me.  Recs on brand/model?  Might have asked that already.

For my Jazzocaster project, I used SD Antiquity II single coils.  They sound about as close to my Dad's original '59 pups as I've ever heard.  Plus, I had the middle one reverse wound, so in the 2 and 4 positions, there is zero hum.  Pretty pretty nice.

Sorry, I just read "single coils" and stopped there.  My Dad has a 57 RI Hot Rod Strat that has a DiMarzio in the bridge position.  I've posted pics of it here before.  It's a great, highly versatile guitar.   You could do worse than using it as inspiration.

Alright I’m anticipating seeing a hello kitty strat up on Sweetwater tomorrow and placing an order. What medium sized thing should I treat myself with as long as I have a box coming - strymon sunset?
