Turns out someone did listen that close

Pics motherfucker...post 'em.

And have you had a chance to plug it in?

Also, I'm curious where your secret santa got it, and if you thought it was properly set up upon arrival.

Apparently showing up on Friday. Coming from Sweetwater, so expecting a decent enough setup.

More info on Friday.

Ah.  Something to look forward to.  Thanks for sharing with us.   I really look forward to your report, as I've been considering one of these myself.

Meanwhile, any of y'all wanna buy a '37 Gibson?

This would work better if you posted pics again.

About that...

I have an inner conflict.  I 100% prefer buying from a local guitar shop, but Sweetwater has their game tight.  Whoever is training Sweetwater employees is putting in the work.

They do make sure everything is there and in good shape, but they in no way set their guitars up. The most unplayable guitar I ever received from them was the one I actually had them set up, just to see how they did.

It was a connection for a compressor. This garage baby used to be someone’s shop. Now it’s my office. I cut it off and just need to dry wall over it at some point. Or not.

You gotta take the straps off man. I know it’s a hassle but it looks so much prettier.

Negative. This way I just grab and play. The less action required between thought and playing the better.

Noice!

Same same.

Prettier sands straps. But less functional.

Could be said for a lot of things.

How many of yall play standing up when not in a band situation?

90% of the time. Only time I’m really sitting is when I’m at the computer figuring out and charting new songs.

Gotcha. I subscribe to the never run  when you can walk, never walk when you can stand, never stand when you can sit theory. Also never sit when you can lay down.

Morello wears his guitar high when standing, so it's in the same position as when he's sitting.

Even sitting down I prefer a strap to keep it in optimal position. But I take the straps off when I hang them up because I’m a gentleman.

I’m a D’Addario guy but was wondering about trying some other brands for my new Taylor. Have you guys ever used Stringjoy’s?

There have been lengthy discussions about this but if you haven’t tried John Pearse you should. It’s a different, brighter sound, and if you think you have callouses now they will kill your fingertips for good, but wow what a big sound.

curious if tbone is having the same weird... satisfaction with the lightweight of the alder tele combined with the double binding. it almost feels like it's got that danelectro contruction.

Until you wrote "tele" I though you were discussing the gloryhole.

Didn't realize these were MIM. They make stuff at that price point. My Strummer Tele is based on Joe's '66 alder Tele. Best sounding and playing Tele I've had. Might need to check one of these out.

This is really cool. Custom guitar designs by hand. This girl is a true artist.

Some of the build and artwork process for the recently completed custom Cindy Model-T for @paris_texas55 ;; Mark wanted an art deco and blues themed model-t with the detailing based on the Chrysler Building and of course depicting Robert Johnson at the crossroads.

This is all woodburned and handpainted by me. Aluminum inlay and logo cut by @jonny_bergman and engraved and painted by me. 12” radius. Custom @mjscustompickups and CSG raw steel hardware. Frenched-in Gotoh aged tuners. Body and neck 200 year old NYC pine. Skimtop back. Thanks so much Mark!!!!

At first I thought it was pretty light. But I grabbed my other Tele (am std) and Strat and it’s a little lighter but didn’t feel significant to me. I’ve never played a Danelectro so don’t really have an opinion on that.

Took it to band practice last night. Def a different guitar than the HSS Strat I usually play. But I liked it and I see the potential for sure. I play through an old 80s Boogie .22 Caliber+ head and this dirt pedal

And was getting some nice sounds. Still needs some tweaking though. The highs were a little harsher than i love at times and the low strings would get muddy at times (wondering if the pickup height needs adjusting). But all in all for the first time out I thought it was great.

The neck needs work though. It has some slight humps and valleys, as most guitars do from the factory. Nothing that was problematic. But on my other guitars the local tech guy I go to has done this thing where he planes the neck perfectly true then refrets and levels the frets and they play better than you can imagine after that. And I’ve gotten used to it. So that’s getting done in a couple of weeks. Def looking forward to it.

On a related note, that pedal I posted the YouTube link to was built by the amp guy in the back of the guitar guys shop. And now he is building his own amps. You can check it out here.

He’s done 12 so far. I have number 13 reserved. 13 will undoubtedly have the best mojo.
