Wait in this photo the Guns N’ Roses album is the piece de resistance?

Why yes good sir, I value it more than most of my guitars.

If you get Izzy to sign it you can have any guitar that doesn't start with the letters L, S or T.

Got anything that starts with letters E, F or V?

I must have posted a picture somewhere in this thread, but my Telecaster turns 40 YO this year.

Its serial number starts with E3, but neck says 1985.

Your Tele sounds like a whore.

Finally hung the pièce de résistance up in the music room. I've had this stored for like 15 years now.

What's the furry stuff on the hanger for the Les Paul?  Do I need some of that?

Protecting the investment.

Yes, it's for nitro finished guitars. Rubber can react with it.

Dammit do I actually need to get those for my nitro homies? I thought string swings were made with some material that didn’t fuck with it? Obviously none of mine are a 59.

I bet you put it on a stud too 🙄

Yeah idk, supposedly the plush stuff is where it's at for nitro. I'm just not taking any chances mostly, my only other nitro guitar is my R7, and I have never really stored it other than in the case. The last time I had wall hangers I only had poly guitars, the Tele in that picture, and my '76 LP IIRC. I don't think I ever put the Strat on a hanger.

Of course it's on a stud homie, as is the Tele. And so is the album...

Telecasters are so indestructible that you nail the studs to them.

I had totally forgotten this was an issue with nitro, but so far I've had no issues?

Maybe I should just count my blessings and go get some of this fuzzy holders.

these are load bearing teles

I just did the same googling I did a while back that indicates that string swings (and Hercules)’are generally considered to be safe for nitro. I would do the exact same thing with a high value vintage guitar but I’m remaining comfortable with my Gibsons on the hanger.

i did fuck in the headstock of my J45 a bit with a capo. Stupid stupid. I saw a video where Isbell lamented fixing up the fender decal on a vintage tele by leaving a snark on there.

No reason to put a Snark on the decal ever.  Works just as good out at the end on where there is no decal.

Jim Eno (drummer, Spoon).  He moved his studio to Rhode Island, where he grew up.

That's a great setup.

It's actually a bit unusual.  The footprint of the main room isn't all that big, but the ceilings are very high.  The control room is nice.  His old Neve console is amazing -- he rebuilt it from the ground up with the help of an old school Neve guru.

I did a small amount of consulting on the acoustics of the vocal booth.  I never heard if the "improvements" I suggested actually helped.  I don't have a spare $2.75M lying around so I guess I'll never find out.

Interesting sidenote:  my wife grew up across the street.  When we first started dating she took me to see her parents' house.  As we got closer I said "uh, we're getting really close to my friend Jim's place".  We ended up across the street.  My father in law (a UT Art grad, RIP) got really close to Jim and his ex, which was weird, because he was mostly a classical music dude with a little Leonard Cohen thrown in.  Strange world.

Cool story.

Also, what’s a reverb tube?

Basically the cylinder version of an echo room.

This is the critical piece.
