did you eat paint chips when you were a kid?  it doesn’t matter fuck-all whether or not he plays DL.  the only point that was made was that he’s not a DL.

Meh go fuck yourself. Collins, VB, Princely all have potential to be very good pass rushers. You don’t need to come off the edge to get after the QB.

and your mom had the potential to be a respectable woman.  we haven’t had an elite pass rusher at UT since brian orakpo and sergio kindle.  arguments could be made for jeffcoat and okafor but even they were 6 and 7 years ago.  it’s a legitimate gripe.

It's fun to joke, but this kid is going to tear it up in this offense.  LJH was a raw prospect and the kid is now on the Saints active roster, should have been drafted if he stayed.  Omeire is much more polished and quick twitched, he's going to rake in this offense.

And if you watch his tape, he does what Herman loves most out of wr's - big body that blocks.

Get your shit straight, we’re talking about the current class not the past decade. Also, can you try not to be such a little twat all the time?

Jesus. Attacking the WRs. What, no one wanted to try to legitimately shit all over the QB’s on campus and the recruiting there as well?

Also, I’ve always wondered what mostly normal posters think about their positions when they realize their only ally is say, Futureman. Or MarkStanco.

Bevo with possibly the dumbest statements I've ever read on here.

Talent isn't this super rare commodity. We have it in spades all over the roster but especially at WR. We will always move the ball with our WRs. That's not a real concern. Jake Smith has the potential to be better than any WR we've ever had here.

You are being kind of lazy. If you follow the conversation from the beginning, there were two points and they relate to recruiting. First, we need to find a third receiver. We have Lewis and Washington who may provide what we need but they are untested. We have Quentin Johnson coming in. Not sure where we see Omeire. Personally, I would like to see if he can play Hullaby's role and move Hullaby to LB. Second, we have to find a replacement for Duvernay and Johnson. Eagles is going to be a star IMO and will add speed to the offense. Smith is a great possession receiver but I don't see the explosive plays that I see out of Duvernay. That doesn't mean that it won't happen. It is just what I see now. And it isn't a slight to Smith. If we want speed, from what I see on tape, I'm not sure if LVBS fits the bill. Maybe, Achane or Cooper (who has issues) would help.

I guess if we are at a point where we can only name two of our three starting receiver spots for next year we are in a much better position as a program than we were when we could not name our starting offensive linemen one week before the opener.

Smith is going to move right into the slot next year and wreck shit. I cannot imagine how anyway watching him play so far can be anything other than excited.

Jesus, dude. You deserve to be an NFL fan. Of course the young WR depth is untested, but they were recruited because they fit the staff's vision for their position. Seeing what you have in them is what the spring and fall are for. Hullaby to LB may be the plan already, and we have a ton of 1st and 2nd year talent that just needs to shake itself out in the spring. Woodard, Washington, and Lewis may all have bright futures, but we aren't recruiting into a deficient position.

Smith could not enroll early and you've only seen him for 53 snaps. The fact that you've decided we need someone else in that mold is preemptive at best, asinine at worst. He's one of the fastest dudes on the team without the luxury of summer or offseason workouts. When critiquing roster management, you must take into account the way players are used in the offense, and saying you want guys like Achane ignores the fact that TyCoreous is apart of the class and Whittington is on his way back.

Jake Smith is incredibly explosive. You’re comparing a true freshman to a senior. Rewind to a year ago, I doubt you would be talking up Duvernay. Everything came together as a senior.

Ok. Strike what LazyGringo said. NOW you’ve said possibly the dumbest thing that’s ever been said on this board. Its like you never watched Smith’s HS tape, the tape he’s put up so far at UT, or listened to any of the practice reports from ANYONE.

Also, it’s like you ignored the other poster who has already demonstrated that Smith is currently averaging more yards per catch than Duvernay. So at this point, you’re basically dismissing informed observations of people (some of which do this for a living) AND statistical fact.

Stop. Get Help.gif.

Nah, I appreciated that. And obviously Herman thinks Smith is quick and fast enough to make people miss in space. Otherwise, he wouldn't be on punt return. But, when we run a screen or a slant, I feel more confident in Duvernay breaking it for a big gain. Look, I realize and am happy that Smith is going to start for the next few years. I'm not confident that he is better than Duvernay and will provide the home run threat that Herman wants out of the position. Either way, if he goes down, we will need a replacement. And speed kills so I would look for someone in this upcoming class to fill that role and I don't think LVBS is the one.

Have you let the coaches know? They’d probably appreciate hearing your desire to recruit fast football players and your concern that Smith isn’t one of them.

You feel more confident in a senior than you do a true freshman, NO FUCKING SHIT. Player development is a thing that exists, Duvernay is literally having his breakout season as a senior.

Duvernay was a home run specialist his first year on basically straight downfield routes.  He had an unmemorable sophomore year and then resurged as a junior as more of a possession receiver who could, if the right lane opened up, still take it to the house.  This is pretty much the only year where he seems to have put it all together to become a truly top end receiver.  He wasn't even on the Biletnikoff watchlist at the beginning of the season.

Jake Smith is a true freshman who wasn't even an EE.  You can be unconvinced all you want, but he's looking like a more complete receiver at this point in his career than freshman, sophomore, and probably even junior Duvernay.  His HS film is basically a montage of him taking it to the house over and over again for about 3-4 years straight and he was the Gatorade player of the year.

Jake runs an unverified 4.37 40 yard dash, while Duvernay reportedly can hit 4.30 and claims to be one of the fastest people in all of college football.  Duvernay is slightly faster, but either has the speed to take it to the house.  We've still never replaced Marquise Goodwin's speed.  Why aren't you worrying about that?

As far as receivers, I'm more interested in who can replace Collin Johnson.  I think we'll be pretty well off with Smith and Eagles, but Epps is the bigger concern.  If he can't cut it, someone else needs to step up.
