I think Bevo is responsible for the worst take I’ve seen on this site. Can’t remember what is was but I have him on ignore.

Expand

It was on Jake Smith: I called him a very good possession receiver because of his good hands (not because of his speed). You misunderstood the point as slot receivers used to be one trick ponies but now you see guys with good hands, good quickness and good speed. The position has evolved.

Should be a DE, but he may not be ready for significant snaps by next year. I think Bimage and Jones can both provide some good pass rush next year.

Jones was a good pass rusher in JUCO and showed some flashes in spurts this past season.  He was just put in a bad position in the 4i when he should have been rushing the passer.

I would have to call this take stupid as well. In my opinion possession receiver is terminology for good route runners with good hands that lack yards after catch ability.

I think Dorbah will be ready as a pass rushing specialist day one

He’s like 210 pounds on a good day.  I think a redshirt year and putting him on the Vaughn’s diet plan for a year would be great.

Expand

Link to only being 210 on a good day?

He’ll probably be about the same size as Trace Ford, who was able to contribute this year as a true freshman smaller DE type

Dorbah holds his own playing 4I in 6A right now, and playing the edge is easier

I mean just google his weight it’s listed at 210 lb on multiple sites.  I remember over the summer after camps, services were down on him when his height and weight were much lower than people thought.  That’s when people started looking at him as a LB or A B-backer instead of DE.  He still dominated those camps because of his speed.  I think he’s an elite pass rusher but he will struggle at his weight  against D1 tackles if he’s playing with his hand in the dirt. He needs to put on a solid 30-40 pounds to play DE.

If he’s really only around 210 right now, about which I’m skeptical, then he only needs about fifteen pounds to be about what Ford played at this year as a pass rushing specialize. That shouldn’t be too difficult to add over the offseason

Didn't Dorbah lose a lot of weight when he started basketball season?  Thought he played during the football season around 225-230 range.

Expand

Yeah, he dropped down to like 215 during basketball season last year. If he does the same, then it’ll be hard to get up to a great playing weight by next year. He could be a pass rushing specialist at about 230, but with how many teams play no huddle in our conference, that seems like it would be a pretty limited role.

Yes, Vaughn should move to WDE in this defense. He's 6-4 250. People seem to be forgetting about Myron Warren as well.

Overall, that doesn't seem too bad. Hopefully, 2 of Vaughns, Dorbah, Warren, Ossai, Bimage, TQ, and Jones will show up. At least there are bodies. Cornerback will be okay but not great. Green can potentially lock down one side, though. Safety is strong. And I guess Foster and Overshown might move to linebacker. This will not be a D on the level of Clemson or tOSU talent wise. Tillman, Gbenda, Adeoye, and Mitchell. Ford, Hullaby. That is a disaster, Orlando. Fuck, we better hit the grad transfer market hard on D and the offense better score.

Stupid questions so feel free to neg: is it common to have a DC who doesn't recruit? For the life of me I cannot figure out why anyone thought that was a good idea.

Hopefully having a sound scheme and, what could be, an above average d-line can shield the LBs some.

It’s fairly commonplace in the NFL

Bijan Robinson and Alfred Collins were listed in this article for possible bumps to 5* at the All-American Bowl. If that happens Bijan would jump Zach Evans in the composite.

how Bijan isn't a 5 star in each ranking service is mind blowing

He is a 5* on Rivals, and the 247 composite. If he stays in the top 32 he will be a 5* on 247. ESPN will most likely be the one he doesn't get there on. They are very stingy on giving out 5* ratings.

Regardless of weight, I agree he can play an Eric Striker type role for us day 1.

He’s 14th on Rivals, 22nd on ESPN, and 23rd on 247, so his ranking indicates he’s a 5 star on every service even if some of the services are weird about being stingy about giving out 5 stars before NSD2.

All the 247 guys had Card as the #1 QB yesterday, and they basically said Card and King were the only two somewhat impressive QBs. Farrell had him at #3.

Lol. I was coming to point out that line too.

VERY glad we are looking to do that as opposed to the opposite or just one of the two.
