Texas Recruiting Notes 2020

There would be one year together at Stanford at best. If they were speaking to the braggs, that will be more troublesome.

Actually, man no. It's not about playing together, it's the Little's selling how amazing Stanford is as a whole. "Oh, we considered Texas too but the education is way better at Stanford and the coach they sent wrecked 3/4 of the plumbing in our house with one titanic shit. But yes, Stanford is amazing." Do you really think that the only influence a set of parents can offer to another set of parents is whether their kids get to play together?

Kids are influenced by a litany of reasons. I just threw out one reason. He might love the nerd life,  who knows. Or he may hate California and love being in texas. Or he might have a trainer.....

I’m not as worried about Stanford as others here. Things have changed quite a bit since Little’s recruitment.

1) we have a top 10 team on the rise

2) Herb hand is the ol coach, not the porcelain punisher.

3) the OL group we are recruiting have time to build relationship through process and stick together.

Nahlin is much more fixated on Lindbergh and Broughton than Evan's right now. Says that if we land them, 'everything will fall into place'.
I get the feeling our staff recognizes that Evans will go to signing day and right now they're trying to identify top end prospects who can become class leaders and recruiters if we get their commitment.

The Stanford Texas equation has just changed for the future. For the last several years it made sense for certain players to attend Stanford. You got a great education, had good team success, experienced solid coaching and had a base in Silicon Valley.

Now, however, Texas looks much better. We will compete for the national championship in the next 2-4 years. Stanford won’t.

The coaching is very good at OL, RB, LB, DB, QB, DL and to some extent WR. Stanford is headed downward and coaching stability is less than at Texas.

Austin presents a very nice alternative to Silicon Valley, with some majors like accounting that are right up there with Stanford.

Texas players should get drafted higher because the Pac 12 sucks and Texas is on the rise.

Advantage Texas.

As a former player there are limits on his ability to interact w/ recruits

Would current recruits even remember Ricky’s NFL days? Evans would have been 10 or 11 when Ricky retired, so if anything he probably remembers him being a mountain man stoner rather than the greatest college RB of his era.

ok.  jamaal then.  you can argue jamaal as a greatest RB in the history of the NFL.  should be enough.

This would be much more relatable to recruits, and despite your hyperbole, he does have the highest YPC in league history.

Hmm, well I have no significant rebuttal, it certainly “can be argued”

was he ever running behind an elite OL?  did he ever have the benefit of an elite QB or passing game to take pressure off the run defense?  and yet he still gained yardage at a better clip than anyone who played in the NFL, ever.

there really isn’t an argument to be made.

4) Stanford no longer has Mike Bloomgren

Logan Parr and Jake Majors, if we land him, are planning on enrolling early. Both are boys with Lindberg. Texas should spend some time selling him on the benefits of enrolling early to potentially play early.

Did I mention that Tree doesn't allow early enrollments?

Reading some of the post visit commentary it sounds like Garth is as close to a silent as can be. That’s three of your top 5 on the board likely in the fold. Looks like Linberg will decide by this summer so we will not be waiting long. It will be much easier to sell some of the skill positions when they see our OL commits.

there is no way that this Demas thing wasn't locked and loaded, with the attendant aggy media having their stories "in the can," prior to the end of weekend.

They want this so badly to be true.

They need this so badly to be true... (/Full Metal Jacket)

anything to keep believing that Herman is beating Jimbo at recruiting... it is the one narrative that they haven't had blow up in their faces.,and they got nowhere else to go. (/Officer and a Gentleman)

Omeire is in the mold of Collin Johnson. Mookie Cooper is as explosive as the two slots from this past class. Let’s say they can close both for a 2 man WR crew. They look good with these targets.

Kelvontay Dixon makes it three

Obviously it’s a long way off and a lot will change. Still that would be a hell of a 20 player class. No one is expected to be an early NFL guy after next season and they like their roster, so attrition looks like it could be low. Right now they’re not thinking they’ll sign 20. More like 16. I still think they get to 21/22.

Put me down for something in the 23-25 range

This is Aggie-like talk.  Jimbo is a good coach.  You don’t win a national championship unless you can develop.  He’s going to continue to be a handful to recruit against.

Wrong. Jameis won that for him. Without Jameis his average is 9 wins a season. There's nothing aggy about that. It's reality.

And if he's so great, what happened his last year with all that 4 and 5* talent?

When Majors commits this week, that’s 2 of 5 OL targets for the class. I don’t know when Garth will go public, probably later in the spring but that’s 3. Then you wind up focusing heavily on Lindberg and George. That would be a damned good group to sign. They look damned good with this group.

4 DLs in Unmailienalienalien, Collins, Dorbah and Broughton, if Broughton can avoid Will fucking Lyles. They look good with this crew.

Card. Eh, there’s the qb.

Evans and Jordan at TB. McGowan leaves the state and McLellan goes to okie? I’d take that. McLellan is an Aledo TB. He’s terrific, but they take a lot of bullets before getting to college. Looking strong here.

Go hard after the Bishop Dunne guy and one other? Cy Creek guy would have to get offered first before he’d be on the list but I assume they take two. Lots of work to do here.

Ringo at CB. Jones at NB. Thompson at S. Three studs in the secondary. Looking good.

Jackson will be the number one athlete in the country.

I feel good about landing all of the in-state guys here except Evans (impossible to "feel good" this early in the game with him), Broughton (because SEC and Giles), and Omeire, whose recruitment I don't have a read on.

biggest indictment of jimbo is his 2017 season and the current state of the FSU program.
