Going from zero defensive commits to Crawford, Dorbah, Broughton, and (potentially) Fillinger in a month is pretty fun.

I still feel that Bijan will choose us at the end.  Not sure what tosu exactly pitched to him, but I think as December gets closer, he may have a change of heart. If not, I'll subscribe to the looch theory "He was all Horn, but his family wasn't"

The following class gets us to 258.14 with 15 kids committed. And that leaves us conservatively with 5 more spots to fill. Not sure what the player average is there, but that would put us firmly at #5 in the rankings, ahead of ND at 252 and change with 17 commits. aTm currently has 16 commits and they're at 241. Georgia has 250 and change with 14 commits. Wow.

Now imagine a world where we manage to add like, say, Johnny Wilson and a 5 star RB. For those that don't want to slog through that list below, it's adding 6 players: CTJ, Karic, Fillinger, Collins, Lindberg and Quentin Johnson. This also doesn't take into account the chance for many of those player to move up, like Broughton, Jackson, Card, Dorbah, Garth, Collins or Finneger. In fairness, some could move down, as well. But damn if that isn't a hell of a foundation.

Clint Buckley still seems to think that Umanmielen is the third DL guy on our board.

Clint Buckley: How Vernon Broughton's commitment could influence rest of 2020 class

Vernon Broughton’s commitment to Texas was the Longhorns’ ninth of the 2020 class, but more importantly, it was head coach Tom Herman’s first to play on the defensive line. The four-star defensive tackle is the third-highest rated commit in the Horns’ class, just behind quarterback commits Ja'Quinden Jackson and Hudson Card. Broughton, who picked Texas over the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas A&M, could have ripple effects on the rest of Texas’ recruiting class, especially on the defensive line. Other potential D-line targets include Princely Umanmielen and Alfred Collins. If the Longhorns were able to secure all three of those players, the 2020 class could be the best D-line group in the Herman era.

Broughton is the highest-rated defensive line commit in Herman’s four recruiting classes thus far, and the addition of both Umanmielen and Collins as defensive ends could give the Longhorns one of the best D-line trios of any school in the nation. Texas outside linebacker commit Prince Dorbah is the best pass-rusher in the state of Texas, and Broughton’s strength and athleticism will do wonders for the Longhorns when it comes to stopping the run. It’s often been said that most games are won or lost in the trenches. With three O-line commits already in addition to the commitments of Broughton and Dorbah, Texas has loaded up on premium front-line players in 2020.

Either he is short one on numbers, or the staff is choosing to take Fillinger over princely. I would assume they are willing and would like to got to 4 if they can get the best ones on the board.

Super K thinks differently. He says Bijans "gut" is directing him to Ohio St. Mom wants Texas

There was a Rivals article this week with an tOSU mod talking about some national prospects.

He said they looked good for both Ransom and Robinson. He added that he felt better about Robinson than Ransom.

Ransom committed within a couple days.

Take that for what you will as you try to talk yourself into us getting Robinson.

After going through this ordeal with Vernon, I seriously won't be surprised if Bijan is in. Aggy felt good, arky felt good, etc. No one knows shit. Now it's tOSU feels good, I'm sure Tom and Co feel good, etc.

Very different situations, starting with being Vernon an in-state prospect.

Could potentially do with Blidi what A&M did with Ellison and Mowry; let him commit but not sign, and if he qualifies you get a high upside DL, if he doesn't, the only thing you're losing is the opportunity cost of a 4th DL in the class (and it doesn't hurt 2021 scholarships)

Who is this grade risk recruit you mentioned?

True. I'm just saying I don't believe anyone is really connected. Who knows, though. If mom really prefers Texas, we still have the season to prove our running game is the real deal, and distance/mom could work in our favor.
