I think they’ve both been pretty horrible, I remember mentioning being disappointed in Conner earlier this season for playing poorly.

I expected steady play, with no wow plays added in. He’s whiffing on blocks pretty often, but at least he’s staying upright more often than not.

TLDR: We have 4 OL playing at passable/decent levels and then Hutson.

I think I’ve pinpointed what’s wrong with Dunlap’s OL grades because they’ve seemed off for a while. He focuses too much on guys giving up negative plays/disruptions and not enough on how well they execute their assignments.

Guys like Conner and Majors get absolutely no push in the run game and his grades don’t seem to reflect that enough. We have not had 4 OL playing at a decent level this year, despite his grades routinely coming out that way.

I do not buy that either. Conner was pretty solid in the first 2 games and has not looked good the last 2. Huston has struggled in every game. I trust Dunlap more on the OL stats, than PFF.

I have no idea what you’re talking about, but Conner has sucked shot through a straw at run blocking every game this year. He was terrible run blocking against ULM, especially considering the competition.  I think PFF’s grades are more accurate on Conner and Majors than Dunlap’s. He routinely grades those two out at good to very good, which is just flat out wrong.

Call me crazy but Hutson might have had a competent day yesterday, definitely his best day of the year. I was worried about the 3 interior OL against that WVU NT.

On the flip side, it looked like Banks had his roughest game. He is young, so inconsistency is expected.

Majors held up surprisingly well on the inside as well.

Banks missed the stunt early and gave up the sack, but I didn't see anything too bad after that.

Is that cumulative for the season? Or the last week’s game? It seemed like we were getting a better push this week when we ran, and the YPC was not skewed by a couple long runs.

Christian Jones has come a long way, he's showed a lot of improvement this season. I wouldn't necessarily identify a weak link, but more so "weak links" on the OL. Conner and Hutson have been equally bad on the interior. I have no doubt in my mind that a seasoned Angilau would've been better than either of them and would've demonstrated the same growth as Jones. It'll be interesting to see who starts at G next season. I fully expect Campbell to get it next season if he somehow doesn't steal away a starting job later this season.

Hutson was pretty bad in the WVU game. I basically watched every offensive snap, focused on him, and found that he either got beat fairly quickly after the snap or didn't do much other than a few assists when run blocking. His pass pro is better, but still below average.

The worst part about him is that he seems to know where to go, but he just doesn't seem to possess the physical ability or athleticism to be effective right now.

Stills was beating everyone in front of him. Asking Karic and Helm to solo block him was recipe for disaster. I don't think OU has a Stills on their DL.

Hutson and Conner are this year's Jones. Patience is needed.

Absolutely this, really stood out to me for the first time back at the UTSA game. He doesn’t look lost. He isn’t getting schooled by simple stunts. He just looks like he doesn’t physically belong on the field in a P5 conference.

A lot of true freshmen don’t, so I’m not writing him off forever. But he’s a liability right now.

Reading these two posts just reminds me how tough the interior Dline of baylor will be for Texas to block...

I suppose you could describe Hutson's performance as "impactful." For the other team, maybe, in the usual sense of the word; but not inaccurate.

I haven't watch much of any of the guys above Banks, but his presence has transformed the offense. He's going to challenge for all conference as a freshman. I'm skeptical of him not being at the top of this list. How many of those guys transformed their units?

ESPN:  Ranking college football's top 25 true freshmen through Week 5

8. Kelvin Banks Jr., OL

Texas | 2022 ESPN 300 ranking: 33

The No. 4 offensive tackle in 2022, Banks has stepped in and has made his presence felt immediately, allowing just one sack this season. It's no shocker Banks, a 6-5, 318-pound left tackle, has found himself in the starting lineup given Texas was so poor in the offensive line a year ago.

9. Cole Hutson, OL

Texas | 2022 ESPN 300 ranking: unranked (four stars)

A former four-star prospect, Hutson has stepped in to help plug holes along this Texas offensive line and has been doing an admirable job. As mentioned with Banks above, Hutson was expected to be in this position. He can also play multiple positions for this group as they continue to grow. The 6-5, 303-pound right guard has yet to surrender a sack this year.

That is so bad. They have the Ole Miss RB, who is in a 60/40 split with Evans higher. For a freshmen LT to be playing well is very rare

All 5 at one point, about 3 plays or so, according to Burton and he said Neto looked fantastic

From left to right: Neto Umeozulu, Malik Agbo, Connor Robertson, DJ Campbell and Cam Williams.

Not sure if it is the same play discussed above. Banks nearly folded the OU LB in half on that 3rd and 1 at the start of the second half.

Was that Banks who pushed that OU DB all the way into the endzone on our first TD drive? When I saw that I knew it was going to be a long day for the Dirt Burglars, they just got pushed around the whole game.

Every team needs a Kasey Studdard type on the line.  I’m glad our highest ranked OL recruit in years, who is balling out as a true freshman, has decided to be that guy.

Just read Banks scouting report, sounds a bit destructive, one of the few times a player blows past his hype, has allowed 1 sack all year. https://247sports.com/Article/Texas-football-offensive-tackle-Kelvin-Banks-247Sports-True-Freshman-of-the-Week-195110445/Amp/

and that was a missed assignment. He has faced guys like Will Anderson (5 sacks), Dallas Turner (2 sacks), Tyree Wilson (6 sacks) and I have not seen him beat for a sack
