Sturgill's ACL taping is on Monday. Giveaway link is here: https://acltv.com/tapings/. Actually went to my first ACL taping a couple weeks ago to see Carin Leon while he was in town for the festival. That venue is awesome, the show was great, and I would be incredibly stoked to see Sturgill on that stage (even after catching him at the fest), so fingers crossed and if anybody wins with an unused+1........

Damn, didn't know he was back with Sturgill.  He was still a mess last time I saw him with Drivn'n'Cryin.  They were hiding the bottle of vodka from him from the time they showed up at the venue.

I always thought Sturgill did more him because Sturgill was an asshole. You’re telling me it was because of the drinking? Wow.

Damn Isbell sold out quick.  I wanted 6 tix so I ordered the limit of 4 up front of the balcony and turned around to get two more and the whole theater was sold out.

Wasn't today just the presale? The rest of us losers have to buy on Friday

I don't know where else to put this, but the "other good stuff" would apply.  I found the Red Clay Strays a few weeks ago and they are pretty damn good.  Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but search didn't find anything.

aren't those the guys that are always on the "Landman" soundtrack?  If so, yeah, they are pretty solid.

At my company Christmas party the other week, my office manager's husband was trying to tell me about a good band he just found, Red Dirt Something or other, and I was like you mean Red Clay Strays? Yeah that's it ! Ha. I was like yeah they kick ass.

Anyway, also in the other good stuff category, I just heard one of the best covers of Rhinestone Cowboy ever last month when I stumbled on Orville Peck's new album.

Well, Vince Gill is truly a "sing the phone book" kind of guy, not to mention an absolutely first rate player.  Throw in Alison Brown and Steve Martin . . . dang.

that's quite nice; thank you.

it's weird with Steve Martin.  Obviously he enjoys playing because he can do whatever the fuck he wants and he chose to get really good at that, but he never really shows any joy when he's playing.

That's what I always LOVED about Jerry Reed.  When he was shredding, he was grinning and laughing like a kid at Disneyland.

That’s as good as anything out there.  Fantastic.

Ironically reminds me of this old bit from Steve in the ‘70’s.

Just paid what was probably a stupid amount for my boys and me to see Stephen Wilson Jr. play about five songs as an opener last night.

This was the first opportunity to see him here, so it was worth it regardless.  Seriously tempted to pay for a Sunday at Two Step Inn to see him, Sturgill, and a handful of others -- but I so want to see him play a full show at an appropriately sized place.

He's so fucking good.

Stephen Wilson is excellent.  “American Gothic” absolutely slays me and hits very close to home.  “Year to Be Young” is such an excellent snapshot of being a kid in the 90’s.

"Save It For A Rainy Day" is a fantastic record. I LOVE all of their recordings but that one is about perfect to me.

Met him at sxsw before that came out. I had it from the internets. Told him I loved the new record and he was nonplussed.

@Damor Stephen Wilson Jr. just added shows for Houston 4/5 and Fort Worth 3/29 on sale tomorrow. Houston show at a pretty small venue.

Thanks!  Somehow I was not signed up for him on Bands In Town.  Picked up a couple in Houston, hopefully I can make it, if not I'll offer them up to Surly.
