I feel for kid but at this point shouldn’t he just quit?? Just zero durability.

I don't know about quit, and maybe it's a bit harsh to say, but kind of turning out to be a waste of a scholarship.

To add, our depth at RB just got really really shitty. Keontay needs to stay healthy.

Depth wise what do we have; three?  Keontay, Whittington, and Young?

Was anyone seriously expecting meaningful snaps out of him?

Best case scenario, no, but currently our RB2 is a true frosh, and I've never seen DY run for anything more than what was blocked.

I think we'd prefer not to have to experiment doing things like lining up Smith at RB (even though he was great there in HS)

Obviously Keontay is out in this hypothetical.

If Kirk can heal properly (knock on wood), Kirk could return and play in 8 weeks against West Virginia on October 5th.  That still gives him a shot to play in up to 8 more regular season games including blOU game... 🤘

They are going to need 1-2 more emergency RB’s. Who would that be?

Kirk's injury may hamper plans to use some 2 RB sets for Texas unless Herman uses the TE's in the backfield a little bit.

Hope Horns don't ever get to this point, but B.J. Foster was a decent RB in high school

In my “every white receiver reminds me of Steve Largent” mindset, I will admit I’ve wondered if Jake Smith has a little Christian McCaffrey in him (NTTAWWT). And he’s apparently a legit 5’11-6’, 200ish, so decent size to go with the speed.

That’s a circle drill matchup that needs to happen

Walk-ons, maybe line Jake Smith up in the backfield for a few snaps a game.

Jake Smith should be getting some snaps out of the backfield regardless of injuries. His film at RB might have been more impressive than his film at WR.

They’ll have to field an offense of walk-ons before Orlando let’s them have Foster.
