68-69 isn't warm

My thermostat didn't budge off 67/68 all weekend when it got down to -6 at night or 0 during the day.

Our therm is typically set from 65-67 in the colder months. We have warm clothes, blankets, socks(!), etc and the kids learned to use a microwave heatpack if they felt cool in the house. I love the winter months.

Came home and my wife had the thermostat set to 72 (it was 15 degrees outside).  She could have set it to 68-69 but she wanted to get warm faster.

This is easily one of the most common posts on this thread (not complaining).  But why do so many women think this is a logical approach to heating a house quicker.  Do they think it's like adding more logs to a fire to burn bigger and it will heat more/faster if we demand more?

Yup.  65 here in our house. 62 at night.

We live in an older 2 story that only has one unit, so when the thermostat is at 65, it's 127 in our upstairs bedroom.

Our bedroom is on the 2nd floor, directly above the furnace in the basement.  I have a programmable thermostat that's set at 65 at night, 67 in the day.

It's so hot in the bedroom we sleep with the windows open (a bit) during the winter.  It's glorious.

We have a 2 story with 2 units.  She gets cold and jacks up the downstairs heat, and the upstairs thermostat stays the same.  The t-stat feels the warmth coming from downstairs, and doesn't kick on for a few hours, while all the rooms upstairs have the doors closed at night, and they drop like 5-10 degrees before the heat finally engages.  Then the kids get up in the morning and she's wondering why they are shivering.

Luckily, this winter, she's been the opposite of this: too warm downstairs (set at 69) so she'll drop it to 68 or so, then the upstairs turns into an oven.  And getting up to shower in a 66 degree bathroom sucks majorly.

I had a long, tiring day yesterday after doing a bunch of selfless shit.  Several things my wife did throughout the day annoyed the fuck out of me, but I did my best to ignore it and forget about it.  Later in the evening, after I did the whole routine of putting my two younger sons in bed I went to look at all of the thermostats because it was hot as fuck in the house.  I was actually sweating. We have three thermostats in our house; one on each floor.  One of the three was set to "Heat," two others were set to "COOL."  One of the ones set to "COOL" was set to 82 degrees.  The room temperature was 75.  She is the one who reset them all. I was grumbling and cussing when I saw this and apparently she heard me because she texted me this morning:  "I don't appreciate you grumbling and cussing about me.  I am the one who put the thermostats on cool because it was hot as fuck in the house."  Yes.  Yes, it was hot as fuck in the house.  And you still don't know how thermostats work.

Have you ever walked over to one with her and explained how they work?

You mean mansplain?  Tried it a few times on other things.  Not receptive.  She tunes me out and I get criticized.

Same as it ever was - infrequent, lukewarm and scowling.
