Yeah, depends on situation. I'll have a Bohemia, chips & salsa, a nacho platter for the table, and the lady will have a large reposado margarita, salt. Make that two Bohemias.

Bohemia….. haven’t thought about that brew in decades.

While living & going to school in Mexico 64 years ago, my classmates impressed upon me that the guys all drank Bohemia and Carta Blanca was strictly for the women.

Dos Equis, Corona, & Tecate were considered donkey piss suitable for the campesinos & pobres.

Bohemia has been my go-to Mexican brew for ... oh, shit ... a good sixty years.

Please help me settle an argument with the Mrs. She's under the impression that, when you go to a restaurant, the normal thing is to order appetizers, keep the menu while you wait, and then after you get your appetizers you order your entrée. I've always ordered everything at once and they naturally bring it out at a good pace. She says the way I do it is weird. I say the way she wants to do it is weird. Who's right?

Sorry the wife is correct. Depending on how quickly the waiter comes, we order our drinks and app. Or if they come really quickly, order the drinks then the app when they drop off the drinks. Then drink and eat app while looking at the menu.

Yep restaurant kitchens are about timing. They need you to order apps first and entrees later so they can space it out

Sometimes my wife will write up a grocery list and asks me to do the shopping while she cleans up the kitchen or whatever.

The Post-It will read “bread, yogurt, sour cream….”

And before I get out the door, she reminds me, “for the bread, make sure its the presliced one from an oval loaf with a brown label; the yogurt it has to be the danon blueberry-cherry 4-pack; sour cream don’t get the high fat one or the very lite one, get the yellow label with the 3 cows on it — last time you bought the WRONG ONE….” and ad infinitum.

What am I, that showoff restaurant server with the super memory trick? Yo, you had the pen and the paper, write that fucking shit down.

I finally conditioned my wife to use the HEB app.  You can actually make a grocery list of the exact items.  Unless it’s closed.

I make my wife text me when she's done with the list, because she will inevitably choose the wrong version or size of an item we get every week.

"WHY DID THEY GIVE US THE GIANT TORTILLAS?" ..... "because that's what you ordered"

My wife is allergic to such tech products and services, like grocery deliveries. Her hypothesis is that the store will select the worst fruits and vegetables to pack. (As if they want to discriminate against online shoppers?).

We also always end up going to the store twice in the same day. I do the bulk of the purchase. And a few hours later she realizes later she wants an extra carton eggs or whatever.

Team Schenker wife. Ordering apps and entrees together is bizarre. You gonna order the dessert, too? Enjoy the meal. Enjoy each other's company. And make it easy on the waitstaff and kitchen. There's nothing worse than the app and entree coming out at the same time then you have a bunch of random, uneaten food all over the place. It doesn't have to be a contest to see how quickly you can eat 1,400 calories and get out the door.

Team Schenker wife here as well. It's the absolute worst to have appetizers and entree presented together. You cannot trust most restaurants to grasp the concept of pacing.

I wish there was a secret code you could send back to the kitchen. Like, “Hey, guys. I’m just here for supper tonight. So crack a beer, take a deep breath, and send our shit out whenever it’s ready. Doesn’t have to be perfect.
And p.s.- My mother-in-law is going to send back her food no matter what. Do with that what you may.”

Team Bohemia here as well, since high school  My local Mexican restaurant/bar stocks it basically for me. I'm glad they haven't gone commercial like Dos, Modelo and Corona.

Man, that's the exact reason I hated curbside / delivery.  We'd order fruit or vegetables, and they'd give us bruised up crap, or green bananas, or something completely wrong.  Also, my biggest complaint is when they're out of an ingredient in a meal you're making, they aren't good enough to know how to pivot from that.  You're making pot roast, e.g., and they're out of beef broth, but they still get you the roast, carrots, gigantic onion that's 3x the size that you need, and 3 carrots when you asked for baby carrots.

The store picker guy definitely dgaf about getting you the perfect piece of produce.

I dont either. So if shes trusting me to buy groceries, and the store is picking items from the same stock, our house is ending up with the same quality of produce.

It's why I love eating outside of the US. You get a table for the evening and just take time. Order a course when you're ready, take whatever time to eat and enjoy, then order something else. The way it should be. Here it's all about turning the table and getting the most butts in the seats.

Yeah but your wife thinks you care, which is the best produce of all.

She's not completely wrong.  They don't select the worst, but they definitely don't select the best.  F & V are the #1 reason why I don't do grocery delivery.

Depends on the produce if we're being honest. Garlic, onions, carrots? Do your worst. Avocados? I'll be damned.

Goes in the things that make u surly thread, but fuck buying avocados.

you can try to pick good ones (which my wife thinks shes good at), but sometimes you still get them with brown chunks.

those fuckers have like a 16-hour peak ripeness window and its all downhill after that.

The best way I have found for handling this is to broaden your avocado eating horizons.

Dumb places might need you to do it for them. Some nice places won't even take an appetizer order first because the chef/kitchen will handle the pacing.

Each one of those carts represent about 20 shoppers and the dumbass shit that goes with that. I prefer the one person with the large cart.

There is definitely an art to the timing of when to eat an avocado.

I usually buy about five. I get one or two that are perfectly ripe and ready to eat that day. A couple that will be ripe in the next couple of days. A third that is still about four days out.

My sister texted last night, inviting us to her place to watch the superbowl. I was camping with my boy, so I texted my wife asking if she wanted to go.

Her: I already have plans. Going to hang out with my sister and bake cookies.

Me: Oh, I didn't know you already had plans. How come you didn't let me know?

Her: I didn't think you were interested. Anyway, you can go to your sister's place.

My boy and I get back from camping I went out to wash the car. When I got home, my wife and daughter were gone, and my son was hanging out watching TV. I called her.

Me: Hey, where are you?

Her: I'm at my sister's place.

Me: So not only did you not tell me you had plans, but also don't tell me you're leaving and just leaving the boy here?

Her: I didn't think you cared. You're over-reacting.

🤬

Is it just my wife, or are any of your wives just really really shitty at communicating?

Ordering strawberries online is just buying a big pile of mold in a strawberry container.

In person isn't much better.  The 4 good strawberries in the pack go bad in 2 days.

you have to be very careful in strawberry and raspberry selection. I have three kids so we mow through fruit but the struggle to find good berries is real.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the issue is. 'Yeah, my wife went to her sisters during the Super Bowl, and as a plus I didn't even have to talk to her before she left."

put them in a closed mason jar with a small paper towel and put in the fridge. You'll get several more days out of them.

You would think. Except there were several women (and at least one guy) who didn't know anything about football and kept asking questions and/or making dumb statements.

After watching the Eagles and Chiefs go 4 and out on their first drives, the guy told one of the women, "we already have 2 turnovers".

The guy needed to turn in his man card.
