I view Kelly much like I did Shaka from this past season.

Just by typing this you agree, she should not be leading our team.

Missimo is a game changer.  Add in the new recruits and it's a UT-Solar team.  Just drive the bus and not park it.

Byars too...good thing with Byars is she has more little sisters..i think 3 more or so lol

We have already taken the first two Byars, might as well sign up all four or five.

Kelly is lucky to have know Missimo's dad from their days at UNC. She has good connections in Canada. Outside of those two areas, her recruiting and performance have been abysmal. We will see if Missimo and Byars stuck around long enough to make an impression, an illusion of a job well done, on the alumni.

One thing that seems to be kept fairly quiet, Kelly is a bona-fide asshole to just about everyone she doesn't take a shine too.  So, it's not like she will have a line of people fighting for her.

That's pretty awesome.  Hope she brings some wisdom back to Austin, maybe even take over as head coach if possible.

When does that schedule come out?  Unless Covid-19 flares up again in Texas, our first match should be in about 6 weeks.

Grosso just kicked the gold medal winning penalty for Canada! She’s coming back to Austin a national hero

She can rest up from the Olympics.  Our first game is an exhibition against the Texas giant killers of ACU next Friday.  First real match is the two game swing through Florida the week after (UCF on Aug 19 and Gata on Aug 22)

Texas received 1 vote in the preseason poll.   We have to stack some non-conf wins because our non-conf is weak (2 ranked teams) and our Big 12 slate is always tough:

  • Georgetown (in Austin) is #11
  • Rice (in Houston) is #22
  • TCU (in Austin) is #8
  • WV (in Austin) is #12
  • OK State (in Austin) is #16

4 of our 5 ranked matches are all at home.

If Kelly can't win with this roster she's an awful coach.

This roster is loaded-

Grosso (world class midfielder)

Missimo (#1 recruit and will eventually be with the USWNT)

Byars (#2 recruit and will eventually be with the USWNT)

Fung (#9 recruit)

Cox (#10 recruit)

Bluemel (didn't play last year because of injury but she's getting run with the German national team)

This roster has 4 or 5 players that are going to be part of their national team for years to come.

Well she is awful, regardless.  Awful coaches win with good rosters all the time.  They're still awful.

Treasure is the #3 recruit in the '24 class. Her Solar team is the top club team in the country. They're loaded much like this Missimo class that's coming in.

Kelly really has the perfect situation if she starts winning because this Solar connection is going to keep feeding her talent.

So maybe a winning record in conference soon?

Guess I shouldn’t be surprised Grosso is our program’s first ever Olympian in soccer 🤘🏻

Guess first of a handful with Missimo and Byars eventually

The excitement from the Texas players when they see Grosso gets chosen to kick the penalty, followed by death silence, followed by even more excitement in the span of 10 seconds. 🤣

This gives me chills

Sounds like Grosso may play in the scrimmage tonight. If she does, I hope she wears her gold bling on the pitch as an ultimate flex

I must have missed the new coach announcement

Yep. We could have the #1 recruiting class for 4 years but it doesn't mean shit if your coach knows fewer X's and O's of soccer than Ted Lasso. We're never going anywhere with Angela

Yet another disappointing road loss for Angela Kelly.  She needs to go back to Canada to coach soccer, eh.  Our defense, once again, sucks.  UCF's Kristen Scott is putting on a clinic.  The two new coaches that Kelly hired come from spare soccer programs, too.  I guess Del Conte allowed Kelly to hire new assistant coaches as he did for Tom Herman prior to his final season at UT.  This team won't finish above .500.

Time to watch football.

So we have the two highest ranked players in the country, generational talents, and a girl who just made the decisive penalty kick in the Olympic gold medal game, and we lost 4-0 to a mid-major?  Do I have that right?

2011 1st round exit (0-3 loss as 4 seed to unseeded opposition)

2010 Did not make tournament

2009 Did not make tournament

2008 1st round exit (0-2 loss to UNC-Charlotte)

Her extension in 2019 was a worse decision than the Herman extension.  Arguably CDC's worst decision at Texas

He probably didn’t want to come in and mow down half the coaches here immediately, while fundraising for some big capital projects.  My only guess.

1-1 OT FT against Florida.

We gave up the equalizer in the 87th minute after a failed clearance in Floridas box gave Florida an opportunity they converted on.

An Angela Kelly team giving up a goal in the last few min of the match? No way. It’s a hallmark at this point.

With this coach? Yes

We missed a 10 foot shot on goal that was literally a wide open net. Sums up where we are as a program

Agree, teams lack the fine tuning you see from the well coached.

Stat sheets shows a team subject to breakdowns in focus on both ends, breakdowns that lead to quick goals for the other team and poor shots from our team.

38 shots for Texas, crazy to only have the quality for one goal out of that many shots.

I could be wrong, but giving up a goal right after we score seems quite common for Kelly.
