ESPN GAME DAY

Why this guy, what does he have to do with either team, the SEC, or college football?

Literally nothing - Have family that worked on the film that noted it’s part of his promo package for A Complete Unknown.

Which… fine? But I don’t get it… maybe 5% of the game day audience is in the target demographic.

Desmond is only on that show because he fills the need to balance the crew as the buffoonish stooge. As long a Corso has a pulse and able to sit as the table, he’s much more valuable.

Buffoonish stooge, you say? Desmond - Corso (and, hell, McAfee)

So, this guy is playing a 19-year-old Bob Dylan in a movie. I want Rece Davis to as ask him "How Does it Feel" to pick on your own, like a complete unknown?

I had a buddy at UT, late 80's, who got pissed at Corso for some shit he said on TV and literally called ESPN in Bristol and Corso picked up and was cool and explained his take.

Beano Cook would have answered the phone and told him to go fuck himself.

No idea. Where else would they put it at MB Stadium? It's not like the parking lot of an NFL stadium is an inspiring backdrop.

Lifeless in our hotel too and just down the street from stadium. Cold as f*%$ here. Guessing the tailgating will be sparse.

They would be having a similar issue here in DFW if we were still in the Big 12. Cold and rainy this morning. So happy to be done with that turd of a stadium. Well, I guess we can meet SMU there if we don't win today.

I didn't catch it all, but Saban just said something about "being up to your ears in elephant shit".

Yes.  Was funny. McAfee and Kirk were cracking up.  Not sure if Saban knows or not he can’t say that.  I presume they had the delay to bleep it but they didn’t.

Dez thinks the solution to fights caused by flag planting or players posing in the endzone is leaving it up to the stadiums to employ enough police & security to stop it. What the ever loving fuck? He wants $12/hour security guards running out to stop college football players? Or trigger happy cops to start reaching for their sidearms when they feel threatened?

Yeah I was expecting a bigger turnout. They could have made it look more crowded if they did it in a bingo hall instead.

They seemed to acknowledge the small crowds at the start by saying they're expecting the numbers to grow throughout the broadcast. That's the other big disadvantage about not being on a campus where students can party all night then queue up: the convention center probably only opened up an hour before broadcast.

Maybe people will continue to trickle in.

There was pearl clutching over the bottle throwing and there were few repeats. There will be pearl clutching about flag planting and the only remaining worry is it happening if a team upsets another team at their home when the playoff starts. Flag planting on neutral sites shouldn't be a big deal.

I'll stand by it, somewhere in the past in the football forum I've mentioned sportsmanship/smack talking/stepping over a guy when he's down.  I firmly believe it has no place in the sport.  When allowed to take an inch they'll take a mile next.  IMO, reap what you sow they've allowed this behavior to carry on and it has progressed to what we have now.  I guess drama, good or bad, makes revenue.  The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner.  Carry on.

Did Saban get enough sleep?  He sounds as if he might be a little cranky this morning.

Probably unhappy to be on the outside looking in on another title game

Edit: lulz this sign is pretty funny

Agree that stepping over should be called taunting because it is. But ballcarriers can handle that by just getting up at that moment and "accidentally" putting a helmet into the defender's balls.
