Oh, you started it, I was going to post this in the soccer catch all thread. Since this is here, here are the last games of the playoff round:

Aug 20/28 match-ups:
(C) CFR Cluj v Slavia Prague
(C) APOEL v Ajax
(L) LASK v Club Brugge

Aug 21/27 match-ups:
(C) Dinamo Zagreb v Rosenborg
(C) Young Boys v Red Star Belgrade
(L) Olympiacos v Krasnodar

(C)hampion Path, (L)eague Path

With the results before this, Pots 1 and 2 became set.
Pot 1: Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Man City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG, Zenit St. Petersburg
Pot 2: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, Tottenham, Benfica, Lyon

If my math is right, here is how Pots 3 and 4 are decided:

Qualified:
Pot 3:Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Salzburg, Valencia, Inter Milan, Lokomotiv Moscow, Olympiacos/Krasnodar winner
Pot 4: Galatasaray, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Lille, LASK/Club Brugge winner, Young Boys/Red Star Belgrade winner

Pot 3 has the last 2 spots filled as follows:
Ajax and Dinamo Zagreb with wins
Genk (already in group stage) if Ajax or Dinamo Zagreb lose
Slavia Prague with a win and Ajax and Dinamo Zagreb both lose
APOEL with a win and Slavia Prague and Dinamo Zagreb both loss

CFR Cluj and Rosenborg will only qualify for Pot 4 if they win.

Yeah, turns out I was looking at the wrong UEFA standings. So I think this is the situation

Pot 1(set): Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Man City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG, Zenit St. Petersburg

Pot 2: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, Tottenham, Benfica
Ajax will make Pot 2 by advancing, if not Lyon gets the spot.

Pot 3:Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Salzburg, Valencia, Inter Milan, Lokomotiv Moscow, Olympiacos/Krasnodar winner
Dinamo Zagreb with a win
Lyon with a Ajax win
Genk (already in group stage) if Ajax or Dinamo Zagreb lose
Slavia Prague with a win and Ajax and Dinamo Zagreb both lose
APOEL with a win and Slavia Prague and Dinamo Zagreb both loss

Pot 4: Galatasaray, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Lille, LASK/Club Brugge winner, Young Boys/Red Star Belgrade winner
CFR Cluj and Rosenborg will only qualify for Pot 4 if they win.

Red Bull’s Salzburg & Leipzig can be in the same group?

A the Austrian outfit is in Pot 3, while the German outfit is in Pot 4?!?!

Jesse Marsh will be managing in the Champions League. That’s a pretty big deal in the history of US-born managers.

Home - away

Olympiacos 4 -0 fc krasnodar
Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 rosenburg
Lask 0-1 club brugge
Young boys 2-2 crvena zvezda
Cfr cluj 0-1 slavia praha
Apoel 0-0 Ajax

Draw for group on thursday after final leg wraps up tuesday/Wednesday

Red Star Belgrade’s fans are racist assholes so I’m rooting for Young Boys to pull it out on the road.

YB's tied it up in the 81st min but down on away goals...need 1 more

So through yesterday were:

  • Dinamo Zagreb 3-1 over Rosenborg - their 2-0 home win was too much for Rosenborg to overcome
  • Red Star Belgrade 3-3 over Young Boys - 2 road goals were the difference
  • Olympiacos 6-1 over Krasnodor - a 4-0 home win will end a tie pretty quick

Pot 1: Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Man City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, PSG, Zenit St. Petersburg
Pot 2: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, Tottenham, Benfica, ????
Pot 2/3: Lyon
Pot 3:Bayer Leverkusen, Red Bull Salzburg, Olympiacos, Valencia, Inter Milan, Dinamo Zagreb, ????, ????
Pot 3/4: Lokomotive Moscow
Pot 4: Genk, Galatasaray, RB Leipzig Red Star Belgrade, Atalanta, Lille, ????, ????

So today are the last 3 spots:

  • Slavia Prague v CFR Cluj (SP up 1-0)
  • Ajax v APOEL (0-0)
  • Club Brugge v LASK (CB up 1-0)
All games kick off a 3 PM Eastern / 2 PM Central

The results have these implications:

  • Slavia Prague/CFR Cluj - winner goes into Pot 4.
  • Club Brugge/LASK - Club Brugge wins, they are in Pot 3, LASK wins they are in Pot 4
  • Ajax/APOEL - if Ajax wins, they are in Pot 2. If APOEL wins: Pot 3 with a LASK win, Pot 4 with a Club Brugge win.

Not playing, but scoreboard watching:

  • Lyon - Pot 2 with an APOEL win, Pot 3 with an Ajax win.
  • Lokomotive Moscow - Pot 3 with an APOEL win or LASK win, Pot 4 is both Ajax and Club Brugge win.

Oh boy, I see a Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and whomever in pot 4 is the longest trip.
Bayern forum ran draw simulation 50 million times...and atletico is the favorite for the 3 Epl teams in pot1 with city(16.13%) being highest followed by Liverpool(16.08) then chelsea(15.61%)

Spurs highest chance is barca(21.56%) and zenit (21.05%) psg, bayern and juventus at 19%

Yeah I'm pretty excited. Good group of teams, with France, England, Spain and Netherlands, no significant travelling.
