Finally, Rush is in handcuffs. As police escort him to a cop car, he tells Hickman, “You ain’t have to punch me in my face for no reason.”

“You didn’t have to make me,” Hickman says. He adds: “Don’t look at me with your spitty blood face.”

When Sgt. Lisa Taube arrives on scene to take each side of the story, from Hickman and Rush, Rush acknowledges that he shouldn’t have run, “but that don’t give him the right to hit me like that,” he says. “What would have happened if he would’ve killed me? Then what?”

Taube is silent for a moment, before telling him, “Okay. You were in the wrong.”

These people are heros. Anyone that watches that and doesn't agree is crazy. That guy who jaywalked deserved to be arrested and beat/tased. Honestly they should have killed him. Jaywalkers are the scum of the earth. Complete danger to society.

Jaywalking. Serious bidness. All that traffic on that deserted street in the middle of the night - they had no choice. And he was a repeat offender. Lucky they didn't shoot him. Obviously a menace to society.

God dammit, what the fuck is wrong with people?

These heros wanted to beat the shit out of someone. Bottom line. That is their stock in trade. Armed thugs looking for someone to fuck up or kill. Every day of their miserable worthless lives. Fuck the police. One bad apple spoils the bunch. Until the "good" cops start doing something to stop this out of control trend, they all deserve to reap what they sow.

they turned their personal irritation at the guy's disregard for their authority into a crime worthy of a beating. they did everything to escalate that situation, then the one cop snapped and decided to arrest him because the victim had the fucking TEMERITY to complain about them hassling him for no reason.

which they really were. it was an empty street. they weren't out there to increase safety, they were out there looking for a target.

"he's running, he thinks it's funny, what's funny is you are about to get fucked up." <--tells you all you need to know.

A federal law needs to be passed that if you are found guilty of a crime as a peace officer, your penalty is 2x what is on the books. Also, any lawsuits brought because of your crimes, you are personally liable for the judgement.

I disagree.  What's your evidence that they were looking for a target?  Letting the guy off with a warning the first go round?  Initially trying to talk to him calmly while he complains about harassment?  To me that does not equal "everything to escalate that situation" and "looking for a target".  We'd all be annoyed at getting a warning for jaywalking in a mostly dead neighborhood.  But we'd also have enough sense to know that if the cops saw us do it again in a matter of minutes, there will be consequences.  The victim did plenty to escalate the situation.  That doesn't excuse the cop; he was fired and is rightfully facing serious criminal charges.
