I just got an advertisement for blazing fast internet, up to 25 mbps for $49.99.  I'm currently on DSL and get about 9 down and 1 up and it costs $120/month.  I don't have any other options because where I live.  Anyone have any experience with this?  I need very high reliability/uptime.  I assume like satellite tv, service would degrade in bad weather?

You really need to check on bandwidth limits.  I think HughesNet has a 20 gig cap and you'll get to the easily if you watch Netflix or stream much content.

The advertisement says unlimited data...I work from home and do a lot of calls via skype.  I assume the lag would impact this.

Probably so.  If you are happy with your service now other than the price, I would stick with it.  Satellite internet is pretty much a last resort deal.

yes, its paying $120 for 9 down when most people are getting 100 to 200 down much less.  That's how it goes.

Just out of curiosity, who is the service through?  I am pretty much stuck with satellite or line of sight microwave (which I have) and $110 is about what I'm paying
