anything is possible...but the thing auburn has going for it is that they have SEVEN seniors starting on their two lines and the two defensive linemen that aren't seniors are juniors.  that is big imo.  nix is particularly bad at completing deep balls with any accuracy but beyond that, he has been relatively good for a fish in not "fucking it up."  and i simply don't respect florida at all.  their schedule has been atrocious and they haven't performed particularly well throughout.

I will take my medicine here. I knew Florida’s defense was for real but they really took advantage of Nix’s poor performance.  I thought aub would win by 10 but Florida went out and physically got the better of them so props to the gators as they are better than I have given them credit for.

ohio state won by 3 scores but were exposed.  they do not deserve the #1 spot.

so with all of the byes there should be no movement in the top 10 with the exception of barn and florida which one would expect to simply swap spots.

i could see midwest/eastcoast media bias jumping pedder over us.

further down iowa has to drop but michigan should not move up.

smu should move up.

washington and okstate both have to move down after losses.

and lastly, will aggy be able to hang on in the last spot in a bye week for bama's resume?

brett mcmurphy is the biggest fucktard in ap poll history

here is his vote for week 7 + rationale. note he doesn't show the record; 3-2 aggy remain in the mid-teens ranked above undefeated teams.

+++

With Clemson and Alabama off last week, I moved Georgia up to No. 1 on my Associated Press Top 25 ballot this week.

The Bulldogs’ domination of Tennessee on Saturday, plus their earlier win against Notre Dame gives them a slight edge atop my ballot.

After Georgia, I have No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Clemson, No. 4 LSU, No. 5 Ohio State and No. 6 Oklahoma.

I truly believe you could make an argument for any of those six teams as the nation’s best team up to this point based on either their domination of their opponents or top-25 wins/strength of schedule.

Four new teams are on my ballot this week: Michigan returns after a two-week absence following the Wolverines’ win against a top-15 opponent in Iowa, undefeated Baylor comes in at No. 22, Virginia is back at No. 24 and Missouri is No. 25.

Dropping from my rankings is Michigan State after its 24-point loss to Ohio State; Oklahoma State, after its 10-point loss at Texas Tech; and a couple of Pac-12 teams – Cal and Washington, both of whom lost in league play.

My AP ballot (last week):

  1. Georgia (2)
  2. Alabama (3)
  3. Clemson (1)
  4. LSU (4)
  5. Ohio State (6)
  6. Oklahoma (5)
  7. Florida (9)
  8. Wisconsin (8)
  9. Notre Dame (10)
  10. Texas (11)
  11. Penn State (12)
  12. Auburn (7)
  13. Oregon (13)
  14. Memphis (16)
  15. Boise State (17)
  16. Texas A&M (15)
  17. Utah (18)
  18. Arizona State (19)
  19. SMU (22)
  20. Wake Forest (23)
  21. Michigan (NR)
  22. Baylor (NR)
  23. Iowa (14)

I watched Ohio State for the first time last night. They looked damn good to me. I haven't seen Alabama yet, I haven't cared about any of their games. LSU is great. I don't think Clemson has done anything this year to earn a top 5 ranking, but dumbass sports people can't get past that.

It's an interesting year for college ball. I'd guess Ohio State and Clemson make it through the season undefeated. I think Georgia, Alabama, and LSU work out an even exchange of losses.

I'd predict Ohio State and LSU in the final game. Would love to watch that.

Next year, Texas is one of those national monsters. If we find another good QB, we'll stay in that group for quite a while.

Ehh. Without looking into their schedule I don’t have that big of an issue with a 5-0 pennstate jumping us

beat OU and it will all work itself out

You forgot - we got to beat em twice. One in Glory-hole world.

michigan at 16.   ridiculous.

I noted somewhere in this thread it’s all being set up so when Norte Dame beats them, it gets the Irish back in the playoff scenario.   The Media will drive it home to the point the committee will then be blinded again by that hype and pick them over a one loss BIg 12 team or even on the SEC teams with one loss assuming UGA wins out.  They will take a one loss Bama of course, but probably not a one loss LSU.   So Norte Dame gets the nod .

I would put Wiscy ahead of Florida. Beyond that it’s fine. Things are going to shake out over the next few weeks.

Yup, I think Wisky is underrated.   Like you said it doesn't matter  Clempson (lulz ACC)is in, Sec Champ is in, Big10 Champ is in, Big12 Champ is in

All that matters no is winning the games in front of you.  If Wisky does that, they're in.  Same for the Gata, Texas and any other school in the top 19 or so.

Big 12 isn’t necessarily in, particularly if it’s Texas and we lose next week in Cotton Bowl. At that point, I think the LSU-Bama loser would be the 4th team, because OU will have lost too late in the season.

You think they could bump an 11-1 SEC team over a 12-1 Big12 champ?

Maybe if they were exactly LSU and Texas.

The point I was trying to make was that if Texas or OU win the rest of their games, they are going to be in. (I didn't phrase that very well or consistently)  I don't think the same can be said for ND or Pac.

Absolutely they would. No way a two-loss Texas gets in the playoffs, no matter how many viewers we would draw. A one-loss Texas for sure would get in over a one-loss SEC team not named Bama.
