Michigan seems like it is picking the wrong battle.  Ultimately this is a fairly limp wristed rap on the back of the thighs and they have already been without Harbaugh for multiple games this year.  Seems like you would make your statement strenuously objecting and then take the punishment and let it all die down knowing the NCAA ain't likely to do dick and even if they were to do dick it would move so slow that the rest of the season could simply play out.

Michigan calls this a hasty action. The only hasty action that I've seen so far is that Stalions resigned or was asked to resigned from Michigan.

And if UM and Harbaugh want to defend themselves, put Harbaugh and Minter in a press conference where they agree to answer any and all questions from the national media. This doesn't appear to meet the standards of any state or federal crime, so they have nothing to fear if they're truly innocent.

would they be in the big 10 title? Does big still do divisions this year or would Penn St/Ohio St be the championship if both win out?

In that scenario it would roll down to the 5th tie breaker which is the cumulative conference record of cross division opponents.

PSU - Iowa, Illinois, NW 8-10

UM - Minn, Pur, Neb 7-11

OSU - Wisc, Minn, Pur 7-11

Too late to edit, but winner of the tie breaker represents the east in the ccg, probably Iowa from the west.

I haven’t read the actual punishment. Sounds like he can’t be on the sidelines for the game. Could he argue a loophole and be in the booth during the game?

I haven’t read it either but from comments I’ve seen, he’s not allowed to be at the venue on game day.

Nah, looks like he got the wording in his post from this article or similar place:

This right here.  He is going to be like Pete Carroll at USC and get out of town before the shit hits the fan.  He and Caleb Williams should work well together.

Both of 'em headed for Cardinals. Caleb and Kyler in the same backfield, ultimate 2QB system.

The NCAA, B1G, and university all have evidence that the staffer/scout behind the scheme provided information that was received by Michigan coaches.

Their arguments include "you can't move because we've not had time to review the evidence" However, they've had the evidence the same length of time as the conference.

The University did not act on any of the information until engaged about this a second time by the conference. Then they suspended Stalions.

And here's the part that I don't understand...

The conference has evidence that the staffer/scout behind the scheme provided information that was received by Michigan coaches.

But this suspension is only for Harbaugh, leaving gameday management of the team to the offensive and defensive coordinators who were most likely working directly Stalions.

Here ya go:

"For the reasons expressed herein, I have determined that the following disciplinary action against the University is appropriate:

Effective immediately, the University football team must compete without its Head Football Coach for the games remaining in the 2023 regular season. This disciplinary action shall not preclude the University or its football team from having its Head Football Coach attend practices or other football team activities other than the game activities to which it applies. For clarity, the Head Football Coach shall not be present at the game venue on the dates of the games to which this disciplinary action applies."

Why should a Federal Court get involved in a conference matter? Gee Mo Neddie, are these not grown ups that have a conference, conference rules, etc. HOAs seem to operate for the most part.

If I were the conference commissioner I would respond to Michigan's insertion comment as "You better believe I'm inserting myself in this issue. I am the commissioner! ".

Untenable precedent? Huh?

Doesn't seem that hard to just suspend any coach ever caught doing this in the future exactly three games. Seems like a pretty tenable precedent to me.

And isn't due process really only applicable to criminal proceedings? There are no laws that were broken outside of competitive rules put in place by the NCAA. The B1G should be able to kick Michigan in the nuts as much as it wants to and tell them to leave if they don't like it.

Agreed I think it is just a stupid and terrible bluff.

Michigan is very quickly burning through their credibility as an institution. They were the anti-shitheads school in the UM/tOSU rivalry. That gap is closing rapidly.

The Rig12? ACC? Pac-2?  Lulz.
The SEC? Sankey basically said he's happy with the current number of schools.

Not to mention other conferences also have these pesky things called rules that Michigan seems to think they’re the only victim of

I’m too lazy to look up the Big 10 bylaws concerning process on suspensions.  But, throwing the term “due process” indicates some constitutional right.  I’m not a Con law expert, but I don’t recall seeing some fundamental right in the U.S. constitution to coach college football as to life, liberty, property.  The government is not infringing on anything here.  Maybe it’s in the Michigan state constitution (sarcasm).

Yea, I take it this suspension isn't even touching whatever/however Khakis gets paid, which makes it even less likely that any court should be involved in this.  I'd also be watching this carefully from the student athlete perspective and how they do or don't get suspended for violation of team/conference/NCAA/etc rules.  I'd love to see some kid suspended for the first half of next weeks game due to targeting make the "that booth review ain't no due process bro" argument (and yea I know it can be appealed....just illustrative for effect).  What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Michigan should be like awesome thanks and let this just be the only thing that comes of it and move on. Instead they are being hilarious and playing the victim when they clearly cheated. The punishment is a huge nothing burger they should eat it with a smile.
