It's well past time to go to the helmet radios and all the other things that are on NFL sidelines to simply radio in calls from HC/OC/DC to on-field players.

jokes on you mother fucker...along with being a hell of a vacuum repair specialist, what you don't know about connor stalions is that he was head of signals intelligence at ft. meade for most of his career.

The question remains, who ordered the sign stealing.

I understand the difference in the rules and have clearly stated previously how I feel about Michigan. I agree what they did was above and beyond.

But how is the end result different? If Purdue receives Michigan’s offensive and defensive signs from other schools, they have their signs before the game, correct? They did not have to review game film or decipher the signs during the game.

Rules aside, from an integrity of the game perspective, how are they significantly different? It seems silly that the outcome of a game can be tilted based on whether you receive the opponents signs from another school or not.

It's just muddying up the discussion, which is exactly what michigan wants.  The two scenarios are significantly different in that one is against the rules, and one is not.  How you (or me, or anyone else) feel about coaches talking to their buddies about signs they might have observed during a game just confuses the issue. As soon as people shift over to debating about shit like whether there should be radios, or whether a good christian upstanding man should avert his eyes if he happens to see a signal going in from the opposing sideline or whether stealing signs is "part of the game" or "morally wrong" or whether or not Ryan Day is a scumbag or whatever the fuck else, that means people aren't talking about how there are clearly written rules that michigan broke many times over, and what punishments should be given for breaking those rules.  Which is a discussion that michigan people would absolutely love to delay until after the season after they've ordered their national championship t-shirts.

Every game michigan plays without a punishment right now, this season, is another set of consequences they have escaped.

Has anyone figured out why I'm supposed to give a shit that Day provided info on Harbaugh's cheating? I mean I don't like Day but providing info on your rival cheating is basically your duty. I screamed for decades that Texas needed to stop crying about everyone's recruiting shenanigans unless they were going to do something about it. Well, Day did something about his rival's cheating.

Agree....at this point we can only chalk it up to Michigan what aboutism and deflection. If those two things are your only defense in this I assume the evidence must be monstrous and what is already known is tip of the iceberg type stuff.

Team A is cheating. Team B either reports it (individually or with others) or confirms what they've experienced when asked directly.

Why is Team B the problem here?

Go corded. It's the only way to be sure.

One nice feature is that if there's a turnover, the QB can closeline the guy as he runs by.

Our coaches' sideline headsets were corded. We had a linebacker that used to stand on the cord so that when our (asshole) head coach took off running with a play, he got "yoink!'d"

it is axiomatic that ohio state is always a problem.  always.  they are probably somehow responsible in some way for russia invading ukraine and the israeli-palestinian conflict.

because ohio state is the worst of humanity in every way.

but this is indeed a hilarious deflection by michigan.

So the Michigan position is "Yeah, we raped and murdered them.  Tortured a few animals, and burned down those buildings....but THAT guy called the cops!   He's the real problem!"

You got it, as long as you add in a “pretty much everyone else is having sex so rape is fine” and maybe a “murdering them didn’t actually do anything, those people are still doing fine” for good measure

The notion that the B1G orNCAA either one are seeking the truth so they can mete out justice is hilarious.

It's a problem when the two entities whose financial well-being is directly tied to the success of a school like Michigan are in charge of making sure they follow all the rules, and punishing them if they don't. That is where college sports are broken. Serious question here, why would any school that is watching this all go down follow any rules in the future? There is no downside for not doing so. Literally zero.

You would make a hell of a lobbyist.  Hit me up.

This is how it is done.

According to the Dan Wetzel types today, they aren't that different. Interesting how they all decided this morning to build up this talking point

I refused to click on that link but saw enough to know what was in it.   I really wonder what kind of deal Wetzel cut with Michigan and/or Harbaugh for a future scoop to run with that nonsense.

It was kinder than your mention of Pete Rose deserved. Rose didn't do much less, he violated a major rule that was posted in every clubhouse on a sign that explicitly stated if you do it then you are banned.

It would be like if there was a sign posted in every NCAA locker room that said if a member of your staff attends future opponents' games or arranges for others to do so in order to decode sideline signals then you are banned from the NCAA. Only then would what Michigan did be as obviously bad and punishable as what Rose did. Now STFU about that idiot and let's get back to the Harbaugh idiot.

Colonel Stalion, did you order the sign stealing?

Son, we live in a world that has buckeye receivers, and those receivers have to be guarded by men with signs. Who's gonna do it? You? You, 89horn? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Purdue, and you curse the wolverines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that Ohio states elimination from the playoffs, while tragic, probably saved wins; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves wins.

Straight out of the Astros playbook...

and if the NCAA follows MLB's playbook, they'll fire Harbaugh and then proclaim the rest of the teams are clean as a virgin's honeypot, knowing full well it is a lie.

No more problems.  Nothing to see here...  They was bad.

This is actually the first logical argument on the Michigan side. I mean we know it's BS that Harbaugh didn't know but it's at least a plausible explanation.

Stalions did not acquire the signals of other teams using the “same methodology.” Game film DOES NOT show sideline signals. Broadcasts may show occasional signals, but not enough to give away what an entire team is doing. Stalions may have used game film to decipher signals like everyone else, but he also had the advantage of syncing game film up with his own signals recorded on the sideline. This is not the same thing.

They’re arguing that since other teams somehow stole michigans signs without breaking rules, it wasn’t unreasonable to assume Stallions also stole other teams signs without breaking rules. They way it actually happened is irrelevant to the argument he’s making.
