You overlook the seminal word ... "win."

Coach Potato couldn't spell win if you spotted him the "w and the i."

Your defense of Potato as the worst coach in the history of Texas football is ... the very definition of idiocy.

Potato love is a sad thing to see.

Numbers, is that you?

Mack convinced Ricky to return for his senior year. He recruited VY, Colt, Cedric, and many other great Longhorns. He won our only NC of the last 48 years, and should’ve had a second one if not for the Colt injury.

Yeah there were some bad OU losses pre-2005. Yeah we were a train wreck his last 4 seasons. Yeah he was bitter about being forced out and he apparently offered to help recruits who wanted to look elsewhere.

But without Mack’s 1998-2009 years, we are basically Miami or Colorado or Arkansas.

I choose to remember Mack for his positives and forgive his mistakes. Life's too short to harbor bitterness for a guy who loved Texas.

Good luck to him at UNC.

That's right. Mack certainly isn't winning any national titles at UNC, but I wish him a decent swan song.

Mack achieved amazing things.  You didn't mention Gergian GDGD, Fair Park 2004, 2011 & 2012, refusing to step aside after Bama, whether he promised Boom to do so or not, then mailing it in for 2 years to leave us with a smoking crater that took 5 years to clean up.

You clearly didn't attend every Texas v ousux game during his tenure at Texas.

It’s all about your outlook on life. I’d rather remember the good, let go of the bad, and move forward rather than being bitter, spiteful, and petty about every failing (ironically, the very accusations those who can’t let it go hurl against him-funny how that works). To each his own.

Those of you who are in any way happy for Mack, well, I guess you're forgetting that he stole millions of dollars from UT and apparently likes Stoops dick shoved up his ass.

He made the university a shit ton more money than he took and we still print cash to this day. It’s like you don’t remember the 90s

Mack “burning it down” in his worst years somehow was playing for a conference title.  All the while Chuck was discovering the nuances of the coin toss.

He put together a decade of high level success, and after the decade we’ve just experienced (name the top 3 players at each position, it’s sad)......Wake the fuck up. He stayed too long but who gives a shit. All of his success and program building (including a title) were worth it.

Actually I did mention most of those things.

He's the second most successful coach in Texas Longhorns Football history, and we've had a lot of coaches. If you hate every coach for their failures, you will end up hating pretty much everyone in the end.

Mack fucked up with the "we are going to change the offense so we don't depend on the QB so much".  he recovered to being an average P5 program like say Purdue or Virginia Tech. it was time.

Steve Patterson is the one that took the shitshow Mack created/let fester and turned into nuclear Chernobyl like disaster.

Way more pissed at that douchebag than Mack.
