Agora is fun - casual.

Le diplomate is great too, but really loud - try to get somewhere in the back if you want to talk.  Pastis DC over in Union Market - went there for lunch (after National Arboretum) and it was very good.  Same kind of vibe as Le Dip.  Union Market vibe just not as cool as the one over at Logan Circle.

Daughter lives in Mount Pleasant if you want to get into the urban feel.  Not tons up there but Elle is a coffee shop during the day but a nice little intimate place to grab dinner.  A few blocks down above a dentist office is a great speakeasy:  OKPB.

Family likes annabelle over by the Phillips Collection but I wasn't that blown away.  Maybe my main dish.  But nice place to stroll over to if you are in Du Pont.

I'm totally happy having a beer and eating lunch at Kramer's and just walking until my legs give out when I'm over there.  Heading over in a couple of weeks.

This is good advice.  It's a long walk over to Jefferson, but it's still cool with the tidal basin and reflections.

When my wife were still newlyweds we went to a wedding in DC.  We didn't have time to see the monuments so the day we flew out I woke up early and did the early morning nighttime tour by myself.  Was great.  When I got back I told her no one was at the Lincoln so I had crawled up on Lincoln's lap when no one was around.

She was furious and lectured me for climbing up the monument.

We particularly enjoyed the Korean Monument at night as well as the Vietnam Wall (for obvious personal reasons). The entire Mall west of the Washington is really spectacular at night.

My favorite DC food stop used to be Manoosh's hot dog cart on the way home at 2am. There'd typically be a line. Anyone remember him? Great guy.

Hill Country BBQ is closing for good on March 28. Overpriced ‘cue and greasy sausages so I won’t miss it. It’s being replaced with something called Pubkey: “Vibrant bitcoin communities fostering local and global connections through dynamic spaces, creative media, and engaging experiences.” Whatever the fuck that means.

That said, if you do want legit bbq in DC, go to 2Fifty.

Purple Patch had some good Filipino food last time I was up there. And La Tejana is supposed to be legit
