Maybe think of it more like an arranged marriage where the parties in question have a *real* chance to fall in love and appear in a Hallmark movie based on their story? Perhaps the real commitment is the suitors we meet along the way.

Ha. "Ago" makes it a far less haunting memory. Actually wasn't a bad town, just not much entertainment for a guy in his early 20s. Although it was cool to be able to put a lawn chair on your rooftop on a foggy winter morning and blast snow geese...inside the city limits.

With Claude Mathis back at DeSoto it just seems like those recruiting cycles and that effort would be better spent elsewhere. Hell, I'd rather Banks work his way back into Duncanville vs. the Sooners before getting back into the Mathis bullshit. I've been the circus and I've seen the strings.

Gray, Jerod-Eddie, and Miller never played under Mathis.

  Quote

— I mentioned Thursday that Texas was engaged for 2023 DeSoto wide receiver Johntay Cook along with heavyweights like Oklahoma and Alabama with Ohio State expected to join the fray soon. Shortly after I left DeSoto, Cook had a Zoom call with the Texas staff. The call was run mostly by Steve Sarkisian and Andre Coleman and Sarkisian spent a lot of time presenting for Texas. While that may seem like a given, it's a big change for Texas. I was told by a number of high school coaches that Tom Herman would start Zoom calls with prospects and say a few words and then jump off the call. Cook said they talked about how he could fit in the offense, and how they are changing things to get the ball to speedy playmakers in space and letting them operate. For Cook, that was big news to hear considering he's one of the more electric playmakers in the 2023 class.

Wow we might really have a shot here. Both articles mention Sark/Texas most prominently when talking recruitment

I think we are in the running because of how great of a QB developer Sark is.  Out of all the options, Sark gives him one of the better chances to develop into a first round pick.  I don't think BOB does that.  Maybe Clemson does.  Coach O sure doesn't.

It's been mentioned but Eli could have easily ended up here. The Manning family has always had a solid relationship with UT and things with Arch specifically are aligning pretty nicely. I think you have to take the field over Texas but give me UT's odds as equal or better than any other school right now.

I'm most surprised to see his contact with Ole Miss described as "a little bit". I thought they were one of the biggest threats along with Bama, and Clemson.

Just figure out where Manning's sister is going to school. If she heads to Virginia, it's a non-factor. If she comes to Texas, it could be a big deal. Some will dispute family impact on choices like this, but if the family believes that any of the staffs under consideration can get Arch to the next level, family ties could benefit us. They're a tight unit.

Eli Manning comes to Texas if Chris Simms doesn't commit. If he's never openly stated it to the press, it's something that's been said offline over the years by the family. They're going to be looking for the maximum opportunity comprised between development and public platform. I think Ewers being on the depth chart would matter here, but likely no other QB.
