Glad we found room. But in todays day and age, it’ll be tough to keep raw, long-term projects like McDonald on campus for ~3 years and reap the rewards. A lot of programs will come knocking each off-season to promise playing time…

Saty?

I was gonna quote the report that I previously glanced over a few posts above, only to realize that quote came from fat Ketch. So never mind. (on a completely unrelated note, I will always initially spell "never mind" as "nevermind" because of Nirvana)

So to preview the last ~36 hours until signings, is there any UT drama other than:

Potential commits from Moore, McDonald, Benton, Pimpton, with Scott not announcing yet.

Possible losses of Spencer (likely), maybe Wisner and Williams. Anyone else at risk of flipping?

247 & TFB are both reporting that UT does have a spot for ATH Jelani McDonald.

Something to note, Ketch mentioned on today’s OB Overreaction Monday show that Jaylon Ford coming backing for next season isn’t as sure a thing as it was a couple weeks ago. Ford is still considering his NFL draft options.

Fuck that fat attention whore.

He said a month ago that he heard Ford was turning pro, then said he heard Ford was returning and now is hedging again.

And we can't forget 2 weeks ago when Anwar said "the only surprise at this point would be if Xavier Worthy returned to Texas"

OB is on a roll.

yeah they have been creating crap for a while now.. I think it was after the TCU loss they amongst themselves started talking about "if I were worthy and I see how SC with Caleb is doing".. then somehow turned that into Worthy is definitely on SCs radar and he's listening within a day.. They were the ones to keep feeding it.  My favorite would be, "look we don't want to spend this show talking about Worthy to SC topic".. then proceed to talk about it for 30 minutes.

I still check in time to time, but I find myself closing the tab after 3 minutes or so..  They are making shit up and trying to will it into existence

Jimbo?

Well if head coaches are on the table I'd pick Shawn Watson. He has a unit of measurement named after him and runs the "just kill yourself" scheme.

I said this during the Miami and aggy game, but Cristobal and Jimbo are mirror images of each other. Both terrible at everything other than just buying mercenaries.

I guess Cristobal as at least decent to good at OL development but the point remains.

Cristobal has about a foot and a half on Jimbo

what were the knocks on Moore? i feel like people in this board were calling him slow. Is he a size match up that we're looking for?

Damn. What % was he committed to Texas?

He's not the 'big catch radius' guy that has been indicated Texas was looking for - that would have been the 6'5" Ja'kobi Lane.  Moore has decent speed - I think he has a PR of 10.86.

He’s not overly fast and not overly big. There have been plenty of successful guys with his measurables though.

St. John Bosco commitment ceremony doesn't list Moore as committed anywhere.  He's also an EE.

Wow! I've been following UT CFB recruiting since the '04 recruiting cycle. This UT '23 recruiting class has got have the biggest amount of EEs since I've been following UT recruiting.

For those unaware:

Early enrollees:

QB Arch Manning, Isidore Newman (New Orleans, LA)
RB Cedric Baxter, Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater
WR Johntay Cook, Desoto
OL Andre Cojoe, Mansfield Timberview
OL Payton Kirkland, Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips
OL Jaydon Chatman, Killeen Harker Heights
IOL Connor Stroh, Frisco Wakeland
DL Sydir MItchell, Oradell (NJ) Bergen Catholic
Edge Colton Vasek, Austin Westlake
LB Liona Lefau, Kahuku (HI)
LB Anthony Hill, Denton Ryan - uncommitted
LB Derion Gullette, Teague - formerly of Marlin
CB Malik Muhammad, South Oak Cliff

Deandre Moore would be the 14th EE.

It’s becoming more common.  Back in the 90’s all I would’ve needed to do was take a semester of English in the summer before my senior year, or double up on English in the fall (not sure if that option was even available as I was not a high level recruit).

I bet we see a lot of portal activity from our staff during the spring transfer window… After they’ve evaluated the 14+ early enrollees and determined which freshmen (if any) can start from day #1.

Miami was fucking horrible this year. Straight putrid. They looked exceptionally worse than we did in 2021 at 5-7. They were completely bullied out of games and also lost close games due to idiotic coaching and player mistakes (aggy game for example). No matter how many mercs they buy I don’t see that team being legit any time soon.

I also have no idea how Cristobal gets a HC job. He's fucking horrible, much like Jimbo. He can, however, coach an o-line. Take away his lone 12-2 record in 2019,

He was 4-3 during the Covid year, and then went 10-3 before leading at Miami to continue the Jimbo element of a great recruiter, but hilariously inept on the field.

Their losses looked a lot worse. They were getting routinely blown out this year by pretty mid teams.

I mean, they lost to fucking aggy, who somehow looked better, Not a fucking person on their team outside of Achane and Moose were worth a shit.
