It seems like there has been a rash of questionable wagering lately.  A lot of people who were ahead before final jeopardy have been losing, even after writing the correct question.  Many of these have been in the reruns from last year, but there have been some from the current season as well.  Have the dynamics of wagering strategy changed?

It should be pretty straightforward, at least for the person in the lead - assume everyone will get the answer correct, and bet enough to cover the person in second place.  It seems that many are betting with the assumption that no one will get the correct question.  Are there stats somewhere that indicate that this is the more likely outcome?  Does Rainman post here?  I'm sure he would know.

Discussion of games, tryouts and the like. It's all here.

Next week is the College Championship. Another year with no Longhorns.

Look yer sucking at football, basketball is on life support according to some. Do you really need any more failure  ?

Today and tomorrow are the two day finally for the college tournament. I gotta say that the FJ! for the first two semis were ridiculously easy. Terrible for determining who goes to a final for a tournament.

Booooo!

What is the silly "scratching cat" gesture that the current champion does at every opportunity?

He draws one of the letters in his name so it looks like the paw print - maybe the Cincinnati Bearcats logo?

Current champ is an early AI prototype.

I edited my comment above - what's current champ's silly cat claw gesture? What fanbase claims such foolishness?

I've been catching up and just saw that episode. That tells me 2 things:

1. The guy clearly knows that being a furry is odd

2. He didn't take the time to figure out a good cover story for that that is.

Rookie mistake if you ask me.  He was a nice enough guy and we'll see him in the next TOC.

Loved the shout out we got this week.

The app where you play on Apple TV and with your iPhone is pretty impressive. Only fucked up my response once or twice.

Sorry, what’s the app? I looked but didn’t see anything like that.

Very sad. Statistically he’s a goner. Anyone know somebody who has beaten pancreatic cancer?

Notorious RBG.  Although early stage.

A pathologist at my med school quipped, “Advanced stage pancreatic cancer has a five year survival rate of 2% and those 2% were probably misdiagnosed.” Sad to hear for an icon of TV.
