The dynamic bw E Hogan and his new sidekick is horrible. Hogan talks the whole the time and the other guy just interjects every 15 or 20 seconds and repeats one or two words Hogan just said.  It reminds me of something I've seen in a movie but I can't put my finger on it.  It's unlistenable.  Are there any podcasts or streams that talk Texas sports?  Is Babers going to go anywhere?  I think he is really good.

Never liked Hogan. He came off as an asshole or arrogant, or often both.

Agree that Godbolt came across much more genuine and down to earth and enjoyable. Even if he was pretty goofy at times.

I used to drive all over for work and the Horn had maybe a few listenable moments back then, but that was many years ago.

The one young guy who was still a student at UT was also entertaining and had a decent radio persona.  Can't remember his name but he moved on a couple years back, and looks to have done so at the right time.

Its been years since I listened to any Austin sports radio, but when I did it was usually Bucky and Erin. Erin was OK when discussing sports, but the problem is they all too frequently ventured off onto popular culture tangents or updates on their own personal lives. If you go that route, you better be entertaining and Erin is boring as fuck and the next funny thing he says will be his first.

Check out the On Texas Football podcasts and YouTube streams. Rod has been doing the daily (afternoon) “Longhorn Livestream” and then does one or two others a week it seems like.

Met and spent a good bit of time talking with him at a wedding weekend two years ago.  Incredibly nice guy.

Ha. I know the Lone Star guys. Runnnnn.

On Austin sports radio, when I moved back to Austin I tried to listen to the various shows but they were all so bad as compared to The Ticket in Dallas I couldn’t take them. I can’t even keep any of the broadcasters straight except for Babers. Anyway, Austin Sports radio sucks and that’s a shame. It shouldn’t.

How much time did he spend on telling you what was coming up?
He spent a lot of time on that at the Zone.

Hit ESPN on the way home now and Jeff Ward spent the entire segment talking about a school volunteer who got let go because a busybody mom found the volunteer's OnlyFans.

Motherfucker thinks he's still on 590AM.

BK and Bucky Godbolt have a morning show every weekday from 8-10 AM on the Texas Sports Unfiltered app. They have other shows throughout the day as well. https://texassportsunfiltered.com

The unfiltered part adds some entertainment value for me. Bucky has some pretty funny stories that probably he wouldn't have been able to tell on terrestrial radio.

Ward has been bad for a long time. Rest of the crowd can't hold a candle to his greatness and tiresome spiels about how fly fishing is the end-all, end-all. Spends an inordinate amount of time railing on the looks of others as an insecure old man now must be pushing 65. Still insists on playing crappy AC / DC for his bumper music without the awareness that it's really not making him look that cool. And on.

Used to be a good listen back in the day. Just a beating now.

Interestingly enough, so did my pledge brother Charlie Hodge, who’s one of the funniest people on the planet.

I'd be surprised if he's 60.  He was kicking for UT when I was in grad school, and he was drafted in 87.

Randomly partied with him and a bachelor party group he was with July Fourth weekend in South Padre around 2003ish.  He was super nice and pretty chill actually compared to others in the group.  Or he just wasn’t coked out of his mind like a few of the others were.

I thought his senior year was the year of the Georgia Cotton Bowl. 83-84.

Good to know there were some weekends off for the young lad at the time. I bet you were with an old Austin High crew. Those boys are wild. Like, they had contests on who could get thrown in jail faster.

Heh. I'm a Sooner so that's why I posted that. I was a junior in college and at the game. Just miserable weather.

If he was presumably 22 when drafted in 1987, then he's at least 59.

He kicked the tieing FG against OU in 84

He also missed 2 FGs against Georgia in a one-point loss.

People always shit on Curry. There was plenty of blame to go around.

Well it’s a good thing we got that out of our system in the 80s and don’t have to worry about missing multiple FGs to lose to Georgia anymore.
